was very displeased with your fathers4  
#jja3jjc ,therefore tell them3  ,thus   
says ,yahweh of ,armies3  ',return to   
me1'          says ,yahweh of ,armies1  
'and ,i will return to you1'            
says ,yahweh of ,armies4  #jja3jjd      
,don't you be like your fathers1 to whom
 the former prophets                    
proclaimed1 saying3  ,thus says ,yahweh 
of ,armies1 ',return now          from  
your evil ways1 and from your evil      
doings2' but they          did not hear1
 nor listen to me1 says ,yahweh4        
#jja3jje ,your fathers1 where are they8 
,and the prophets1          do they live
 forever8  #jja3jjf ,but my words and my
 decrees1 which ,i commanded my servants

          the prophets1 didn't they     
overtake your fathers8          ,then   
they repented and said1 ',just as       
,yahweh of ,armies          determined  
to do to us1 according to our ways1 and 
according          to our practices1 so

 night1 and behold1 a man riding on a   
red horse1          and he stood among  
the myrtle trees that were in a ravine2 
and behind him there were red1 brown1   
and white horses4  #jja3jji ,then ,i    
asked1 ',my lord1 what are these8'  ,the
 angel who talked          with me said 
to me1 ,i will show you what these are4 
#jja3jaj ,the man who stood among the   
myrtle trees answered1 ,they are        
the ones ,yahweh has sent to go back and

 forth through the earth4  #jja3jaa     
,they reported to the angel of ,yahweh  
who stood among the myrtle trees1       
and said1 ,we have walked back and forth
 through the earth1          and behold1
 all the earth is at rest and in peace4 
#jja3jab ,then the angel of ,yahweh     
replied1 ,o ,yahweh of ,armies1 how long
          will you not have mercy on    
,jerusalem and on the cities of ,judah1 
against which you have had indignation  
these seventy years8  #jja3jac ,yahweh  
answered the angel who talked with me   
with kind          and comforting words4

 me said to me1 ,proclaim1 saying1      
',thus says ,yahweh of ,armies3  ,i am  
jealous for ,jerusalem          and for 
,zion with a great jealousy4  #jja3jae  
,i am very angry with the nations that  
are at ease2 for ,i was          but a  
little displeased1 but they added to the
 calamity4  #jja3jaf ,therefore thus    
says ,yahweh3  ,i have returned to      
,jerusalem          with mercy4  ,my    

house shall be built in it1 says ,yahweh
 of ,armies1          and a line shall  
be stretched forth over ,jerusalem4'    
#jja3jag ,proclaim further1 saying1     
',thus says ,yahweh of ,armies3  ,my    
cities          will again overflow with
 prosperity1 and ,yahweh will again     
comfort ,zion1 and will again choose    
,jerusalem4'  #jja3jah ,i lifted up my  
eyes1 and saw1 and behold1 four horns4  
#jja3jai ,i asked the angel who talked  
with me1 ,what are these8          ,he  
answered me1 ,these are the horns which 
have scattered          ,judah1 ,israel1
 and ,jerusalem4  #jja3jbj ,yahweh      
showed me four craftsmen4  #jja3jba     
,then ,i asked1 ,what are these coming  
to do8  ,he said1          ,these are   
the horns which scattered ,judah1 so    
that no man          lifted up his head2
 but these have come to terrify them1   
to cast down the horns of the nations1  
which lifted up their          horn     
against the land of ,judah to scatter   
it4  #jjb3jja ,i lifted up my eyes1 and 

saw1 and behold1 a man with a measuring 
line in his hand4  #jjb3jjb ,then ,i    
asked1 ,where are you going8  ,he said  
to me1          ,to measure ,jerusalem1 
to see what is its breadth and what     
is its length4  #jjb3jjc ,behold1 the   
angel who talked with me went forth1 and
 another          angel went out to meet
 him1  #jjb3jjd and said to him1 ,run1  
speak to this young man1 saying1        
',jerusalem will be inhabited as        
villages without walls1          because
 of the multitude of men and livestock  
in it4  #jjb3jje ,for ,i1' says ,yahweh1
 'will be to her a wall of fire around  
it1          and ,i will be the glory in
 the midst of her4  #jjb3jjf ,come6     
,come6  ,flee from the land of the      
north1' says ,yahweh2          'for ,i  
have spread you abroad as the four winds
 of the sky1'          says ,yahweh4    
#jjb3jjg ',come1 ,zion6  ,escape1 you   
who dwell with the daughter of          
,babylon4'  #jjb3jjh ,for thus says     
,yahweh of ,armies3  ',for honor he has 

sent me          to the nations which   
plundered you2 for he who touches you

,for1 behold1 ,i will shake my hand over
 them1 and they will be          a spoil
 to those who served them2 and you will 
know that ,yahweh          of ,armies   
has sent me4  #jjb3jaj ,sing and        
rejoice1 daughter of ,zion2 for1 behold1
 ,i come1          and ,i will dwell in 
the midst of you1' says ,yahweh4        
#jjb3jaa ,many nations shall join       
themselves to ,yahweh in that day1      
and shall be my people2 and ,i will     
dwell in the midst of you1          and 
you shall know that ,yahweh of ,armies  
has sent me to you4  #jjb3jab ,yahweh   
will inherit ,judah as his portion in   
the holy land1          and will again  
choose ,jerusalem4  #jjb3jac ,be silent1
 all flesh1 before ,yahweh2 for he has  
roused himself          from his holy   
habitation6  #jjc3jja ,he showed me     
,joshua the high priest standing before 
the angel of ,yahweh1 and ,satan        

standing at his right hand          to  
be his adversary4  #jjc3jjb ,yahweh said
 to ,satan1 ,yahweh rebuke you1 ,satan6 
,yes1 ,yahweh who          has chosen   
,jerusalem rebuke you6  ,isn't this a   
burning stick          plucked out of   
the fire8  #jjc3jjc ,now ,joshua was    
clothed with filthy garments1 and was   
standing          before the angel4     
#jjc3jjd ,he answered and spoke to those
 who stood before him1 saying1          
,take the filthy garments off of him4   
,to him he said1          ,behold1 ,i   
have caused your iniquity to pass from  
you1          and ,i will clothe you    
with rich clothing4  #jjc3jje ,i said1  
,let them set a clean turban on his     
head4          ,so they set a clean     
turban on his head1 and clothed him2    
and the angel of ,yahweh was standing   
by4  #jjc3jjf ,the angel of ,yahweh     
protested to ,joshua1 saying1  #jjc3jjg 
,thus says ,yahweh of ,armies3  ',if you
 will walk in my ways1          and if  
you will keep my charge1 then you also  

shall judge          my house1 and shall
 also keep my courts1 and ,i will give  
you          a place of access among    
these who stand by4  #jjc3jjh ,hear now1
 ,joshua the high priest1 you and your  
fellows          who sit before you2 for
 they are men who are a sign3           
for1 behold1 ,i will bring forth my     
servant1 the ,branch4  #jjc3jji ,for1   
behold1 the stone that ,i have set      
before ,joshua2 on one stone            
are seven eyes3  behold1 ,i will engrave
 the engraving of it1'          says    
,yahweh of ,armies1 'and ,i will remove 
the iniquity          of that land in

,yahweh of ,armies1 'you will invite    
every          man his neighbor under   
the vine and under the fig tree4'

came again1 and wakened me1          as 
a man who is wakened out of his sleep4

see8  ,i said1 ,i have seen1            
and behold1 a lampstand all of gold1    

with its bowl on the top          of it1
 and its seven lamps thereon2 there are 
seven pipes          to each of the     
lamps1 which are on the top of it2      
#jjd3jjc and two olive trees by it1 one 
on the right side of the bowl1          
and the other on the left side of it4   
#jjd3jjd ,i answered and spoke to the   
angel who talked with me1 saying1       
,what are these1 my lord8  #jjd3jje     
,then the angel who talked with me      
answered me1 ,don't you know            
what these are8  ,i said1 ,no1 my lord4 
#jjd3jjf ,then he answered and spoke to 
me1 saying1 ,this is the word           
of ,yahweh to ,zerubbabel1 saying1 ',not
 by might1 nor by power1          but by
 my ,spirit1' says ,yahweh of ,armies4  
#jjd3jjg ,who are you1 great mountain8  
,before ,zerubbabel you are a plain2    
and he will bring out the capstone with 
shouts of ',grace1          grace1 to

,the hands of ,zerubbabel have laid the 

foundation of this house4          ,his 
hands shall also finish it2 and you will
 know that ,yahweh          of ,armies

who despises the day of small things8   
,for these seven shall rejoice1 and     
shall see the plumb line          in the
 hand of ,zerubbabel4  ,these are the   
eyes of ,yahweh1          which run back
 and forth through the whole earth4     
#jjd3jaa ,then ,i asked him1 ,what are  
these two olive trees on the right      
side of the lampstand and on the left   
side of it8  #jjd3jab ,i asked him the  
second time1 ,what are these two olive  
branches1          which are beside the 
two golden spouts1 that pour the golden 
oil out of themselves8  #jjd3jac ,he    
answered me1 ,don't you know what these 
are8          ,i said1 ,no1 my lord4    
#jjd3jad ,then he said1 ,these are the  
two anointed ones who stand          by 
the ,lord of the whole earth4  #jje3jja 
,then again ,i lifted up my eyes1 and   
saw1 and behold1          a flying      

scroll4  #jje3jjb ,he said to me1 ,what 
do you see8  ,i answered1 ,i see a      
flying scroll2          its length is   
twenty cubits1 and its breadth ten      
cubits4  #jje3jjc ,then he said to me1  
,this is the curse that goes out over   
the surface of the whole land2 for      
everyone who steals shall          be   
cut off according to it on the one side2
 and everyone          who swears       
falsely shall be cut off according to it
 on          the other side4  #jje3jjd  
,i will cause it to go out1 says ,yahweh
 of ,armies1 and it          will enter 
into the house of the thief1 and into   
the house          of him who swears    
falsely by my name2 and it will remain  
in the midst of his house1 and will     
destroy it with its timber          and 
its stones4  #jje3jje ,then the angel   
who talked with me came forward1 and    
said to me1          ,lift up now your  
eyes1 and see what is this that is      
appearing4  #jje3jjf ,i said1 ,what is  
it8  ,he said1 ,this is the ephah ,an   

ephah          is a measure of volume of
 about #bb litres1 #e4h ,u4 ,s4 gallons1
          #d4h imperial gallons1 or a   
bit more than half a bushel4            
basket that is appearing4  ,he said     
moreover1 ,this is          their       
appearance in all the land  #jje3jjg    
7and behold1 a talent,a talent is a     
weight of about #cd kilograms           
or #ge pounds4 of lead was lifted up72  
and this is a woman          sitting in 
the midst of the ephah basket4  #jje3jjh
 ,he said1 ,this is ,wickedness2 and he 
threw her down into          the midst  
of the ephah basket2 and he threw the   
weight of lead          on its mouth4   
#jje3jji ,then lifted ,i up my eyes1 and
 saw1 and behold1          there were   
two women1 and the wind was in their    
wings4          ,now they had wings like
 the wings of a stork1 and they lifted  
up the ephah basket between earth and   
the sky4  #jje3jaj ,then said ,i to the 
angel who talked with me1 ,where are    
these          carrying the ephah       

basket8  #jje3jaa ,he said to me1 ,to   
build her a house in the land of        
,shinar4          ,when it is prepared1 
she will be set there in her own place4 
#jjf3jja ,again ,i lifted up my eyes1   
and saw1 and behold1 four chariots      
came out from between two mountains2 and
 the mountains were          mountains  
of brass4  #jjf3jjb ,in the first       
chariot were red horses2 in the second  
chariot black horses2  #jjf3jjc in the  
third chariot white horses2 and in the  
fourth chariot          dappled horses1 
all of them powerful4  #jjf3jjd ,then ,i
 asked the angel who talked with me1    
,what are these1 my lord8  #jjf3jje ,the
 angel answered me1 ,these are the four 
winds of the sky1          which go     
forth from standing before the ,lord of 
all the earth4  #jjf3jjf ,the one with  
the black horses goes out toward the    
north country2          and the white   
went out after them2 and the dappled    
went forth          toward the south    
country4  #jjf3jjg ,the strong went out1

 and sought to go that they might walk  
back and forth through the earth3  and  
he said1 ,go around          and through
 the earth6  ,so they walked back and   
forth          through the earth4       
#jjf3jjh ,then he called to me1 and     
spoke to me1 saying1 ,behold1           
those who go toward the north country   
have quieted my spirit          in the  
north country4  #jjf3jji ,the word of   
,yahweh came to me1 saying1  #jjf3jaj   
,take of them of the captivity1 even of 
,heldai1 of ,tobijah1          and of   
,jedaiah2 and come the same day1 and go 
into the house          of ,josiah the  
son of ,zephaniah1 where they have come 
from ,babylon4  #jjf3jaa ,yes1 take     
silver and gold1 and make crowns1 and   
set them on          the head of ,joshua
 the son of ,jehozadak1 the high priest2
  #jjf3jab and speak to him1 saying1    
',thus says ,yahweh of ,armies1 ,behold1
          the man whose name is the     
,branch3  and he shall grow up out      
of his place2 and he shall build the    

temple of ,yahweh2  #jjf3jac even he    
shall build the temple of ,yahweh2 and  
he shall bear          the glory1 and   
shall sit and rule on his throne2 and he
 shall          be a priest on his      
throne2 and the counsel of peace shall

crowns shall be to ,helem1 and to       
,tobijah1 and to ,jedaiah1          and 
to ,hen the son of ,zephaniah1 for a    
memorial in the          temple of      
,yahweh4  #jjf3jae ,those who are far   
off shall come and build in the temple  
of ,yahweh2          and you shall know 
that ,yahweh of ,armies has sent me to  
you4          ,this will happen1 if you 
will diligently obey the voice

happened in the fourth year of king     
,darius that the word          of       
,yahweh came to ,zechariah in the fourth
 day of the ninth month1          the   
month of ,chislev4  #jjg3jjb ,the people
 of ,bethel sent ,sharezer and ,regem   
,melech1 and their men1          to     

entreat ,yahweh's favor1  #jjg3jjc and  
to speak to the priests of the house of 
,yahweh of ,armies1          and to the 
prophets1 saying1 ,should ,i weep in the
 fifth month1          separating       
myself1 as ,i have done these so many   
years8  #jjg3jjd ,then the word of      
,yahweh of ,armies came to me1 saying1  
#jjg3jje ,speak to all the people of the
 land1 and to the priests1 saying1      
',when you fasted and mourned in the    
fifth and in the seventh          month 
for these seventy years1 did you at all 
fast to me1          really to me8      
#jjg3jjf ,when you eat1 and when you    
drink1 don't you eat for yourselves1    
and drink for yourselves8  #jjg3jjg     
,aren't these the words which ,yahweh   
proclaimed by the former prophets1      
when ,jerusalem was inhabited and in    
prosperity1 and its cities              
around her1 and the ,south and the      
lowland were inhabited8'  #jjg3jjh ,the 
word of ,yahweh came to ,zechariah1     
saying1  #jjg3jji ,thus has ,yahweh of  

,armies spoken1 saying1 ',execute true  
judgment1          and show kindness and
 compassion every man to his brother4   
#jjg3jaj ,don't oppress the widow1 nor  
the fatherless1 the foreigner1          
nor the poor2 and let none of you devise
 evil against his          brother in   
your heart4'  #jjg3jaa ,but they refused
 to listen1 and turned their backs1 and 
stopped          their ears1 that they  
might not hear4  #jjg3jab ,yes1 they    
made their hearts as hard as flint1 lest
 they might          hear the law1 and  
the words which ,yahweh of ,armies had  
sent          by his ,spirit by the     
former prophets4  ,therefore great wrath
          came from ,yahweh of ,armies4 
#jjg3jac ,it has come to pass that1 as  
he called1 and they refused          to 
listen1 so they will call1 and ,i will  
not listen1          said ,yahweh of    
,armies2  #jjg3jad but ,i will scatter  
them with a whirlwind among all the     
nations          which they have not    
known4  ,thus the land was desolate     

after them1 so that no man passed       
through nor returned3          for they 
made the pleasant land desolate4

 came to me4  #jjh3jjb ,thus says       
,yahweh of ,armies3  ,i am jealous for  
,zion with          great jealousy1 and 
,i am jealous for her with great wrath4

returned to ,zion1 and will dwell in the
          midst of ,jerusalem4          
,jerusalem shall be called ',the ,city  
of ,truth2'          and the mountain of
 ,yahweh of ,armies1 ',the ,holy

 of ,armies3  ,old men and old women    
will again          dwell in the streets
 of ,jerusalem1 every man with his staff
          in his hand for very age4

be full of boys and girls playing

,yahweh of ,armies3  ,if it is marvelous
 in the eyes          of the remnant of 
this people in those days1 should it    

also be          marvelous in my eyes8  
says ,yahweh of ,armies4  #jjh3jjg ,thus
 says ,yahweh of ,armies3  ,behold1 ,i  
will save my people          from the   
east country1 and from the west country2
  #jjh3jjh and ,i will bring them1 and  
they will dwell in the midst of         
,jerusalem2          and they will be my
 people1 and ,i will be their ,god1     
in truth and in righteousness4  #jjh3jji

your hands be strong1          you who  
hear in these days these words from the 
mouth          of the prophets who were 
in the day that the foundation          
of the house of ,yahweh of ,armies was  
laid1 even the temple1          that it

those days there was no wages for man1  
nor any wages for an animal2 neither was
 there any peace          to him who    
went out or came in1 because of the     
adversary4          ,for ,i set all men 
everyone against his neighbor4  #jjh3jaa
 ,but now ,i will not be to the remnant 

of this people as in          the former
 days1 says ,yahweh of ,armies4         
#jjh3jab ,for the seed of peace and the 
vine will yield its fruit1          and 
the ground will give its increase1 and  
the heavens will          give their    
dew2 and ,i will cause the remnant of   
this people          to inherit all     
these things4  #jjh3jac ,it shall come  
to pass that1 as you were a curse among 
the nations1 house of ,judah and house  
of ,israel1 so will ,i          save    
you1 and you shall be a blessing4       
,don't be afraid4          ,let your    
hands be strong4  #jjh3jad ,for thus    
says ,yahweh of ,armies3  ,as ,i thought
 to do evil to you1          when your  
fathers provoked me to wrath1 says      
,yahweh of ,armies1          and ,i     
didn't repent2  #jjh3jae so again have  
,i thought in these days to do good to  
,jerusalem          and to the house of 
,judah4  ,don't be afraid4  #jjh3jaf    
,these are the things that you shall do3
  speak every man          the truth    

with his neighbor4  ,execute the        
judgment of truth          and peace in 
your gates1  #jjh3jag and let none of   
you devise evil in your hearts against  
his neighbor1 and love no false oath3   
for all these are things          that  
,i hate1 says ,yahweh4  #jjh3jah ,the   
word of ,yahweh of ,armies came to me4  
#jjh3jai ,thus says ,yahweh of ,armies3 
,the fasts of the fourth fifth1         
seventh1 and tenth months shall be for  
the house of ,judah          joy and    
gladness1 and cheerful feasts4          
,therefore love          truth and      
peace4  #jjh3jbj ,thus says ,yahweh of  
,armies3  ,many peoples1 and the        
inhabitants          of many cities will
 yet come2  #jjh3jba and the inhabitants
 of one shall go to another1 saying1    
',let us          go speedily to entreat
 the favor of ,yahweh1 and to seek      
,yahweh          of ,armies4  ,i will go
 also4'  #jjh3jbb ,yes1 many peoples and
 strong nations will come to seek       
,yahweh          of ,armies in          

,jerusalem1 and to entreat the favor of 
,yahweh4  #jjh3jbc ,thus says ,yahweh of
 ,armies3  ,in those days1 ten men will 
take hold1          out of all the      
languages of the nations1 they will take
 hold          of the skirt of him who  
is a ,jew1 saying1 ',we will go with    
you1          for we have heard that    
,god is with you4'  #jji3jja ,an oracle4
  ,the word of ,yahweh is against the   
land of ,hadrach1          and will rest
 upon ,damascus2 for the eye of man and 
of all          the tribes of ,israel is
 toward ,yahweh2  #jji3jjb and ,hamath1 
also1 which borders on it2 ,tyre and    
,sidon1          because they are very  
wise4  #jji3jjc ,tyre built herself a   
stronghold1 and heaped up silver like   
the dust1          and fine gold like   
the mire of the streets4  #jji3jjd      
,behold1 the ,lord will dispossess her1 
and he will strike her          power in
 the sea2 and she will be devoured with 
fire4  #jji3jje ,ashkelon will see it1  
and fear2 ,gaza also1 and will writhe in

 agony2          as will ,ekron1 for her
 expectation will be disappointed2      
and the king will perish from ,gaza1 and
 ,ashkelon will          not be         
inhabited4  #jji3jjf ,foreigners will   
dwell in ,ashdod1 and ,i will cut off   
the pride          of the ,philistines4 
#jji3jjg ,i will take away his blood out
 of his mouth1 and his abominations     
from between his teeth2 and he also will
 be a remnant for our ,god2          and
 he will be as a chieftain in ,judah1   
and ,ekron as a ,jebusite4  #jji3jjh ,i 
will encamp around my house against the 
army1 that none pass          through or
 return2 and no oppressor will pass     
through them any more3          for now 
,i have seen with my eyes4  #jji3jji    
,rejoice greatly1 daughter of ,zion6    
,shout1 daughter          of ,jerusalem6
  ,behold1 your king comes to you6  ,he 
is righteous1          and having       
salvation2 lowly1 and riding on a       
donkey1          even on a colt1 the    
foal of a donkey4  #jji3jaj ,i will cut 

off the chariot from ,ephraim1 and the  
horse from ,jerusalem2          and the 
battle bow will be cut off2 and he will 
speak peace          to the nations3    
and his dominion will be from sea to    
sea1          and from the ,river to the
 ends of the earth4  #jji3jaa ,as for   
you also1 because of the blood of your  
covenant1 ,i have          set free your
 prisoners from the pit in which is no  
water4  #jji3jab ,turn to the           
stronghold1 you prisoners of hope6      
,even today ,i          declare that ,i 
will restore double to you4  #jji3jac   
,for indeed ,i bend ,judah as a bow for 
me4  ,i have filled          the bow    
with ,ephraim2 and ,i will stir up your 
sons1 ,zion1          against your sons1
 ,greece1 and will make you like the    
sword          of a mighty man4         
#jji3jad ,yahweh will be seen over them2
 and his arrow will go flash            
like lightning2 and the ,lord ,yahweh   
will blow the trumpet1          and will
 go with whirlwinds of the south4       

#jji3jae ,yahweh of ,armies will defend 
them2 and they will destroy          and
 overcome with sling stones2 and they   
will drink1          and roar as through
 wine2 and they will be filled like     
bowls1          like the corners of the 
altar4  #jji3jaf ,yahweh their ,god will
 save them in that day as the flock     
of his people2 for they are like the    
jewels of a crown1          lifted on   
high over his land4  #jji3jag ,for how  
great is his goodness1 and how great is 
his beauty6          ,grain will make   
the young men flourish1 and new wine the
 virgins4  #jaj3jja ,ask of ,yahweh rain
 in the spring time1 ,yahweh who makes  
storm clouds1 and he gives rain showers

great panic from ,yahweh          will

everyone on the hand          of his    
neighbor1 and his hand will rise up

fight at ,jerusalem2 and the wealth of  

all          the surrounding nations    
will be gathered together3              
gold1 and silver1 and clothing1 in great

plague of the horse1 of the mule1 of the
 camel1          and of the donkey1 and 
of all the animals that will be in      
those camps1 as that plague4  #jad3jaf  
,it will happen that everyone who is    
left of all the nations that            
came against ,jerusalem will go up from 
year to year to worship          the    
,king1 ,yahweh of ,armies1 and to keep  
the feast of tents4  #jad3jag ,it will  
be1 that whoever of all the families of 
the earth doesn't          go up to     
,jerusalem to worship the ,king1 ,yahweh
 of ,armies1          on them there will
 be no rain4  #jad3jah ,if the family of
 ,egypt doesn't go up1 and doesn't come1
          neither will it rain on them4 
,this will be the plague          with  
which ,yahweh will strike the nations   
that don't go up          to keep the   
feast of tents4  #jad3jai ,this will be 

the punishment of ,egypt1 and the       
punishment of all          the nations

 be on the bells of the horses1

of ,armies2 and all those who sacrifice 
will come and take          of them1 and

no longer          be a ,canaanite in
