,joshua1 saying1 ,all that you have

two men out of ,shittim          as     
spies1 saying1 ,go1 view the land1 and  
,jericho4          ,they went and came  
into the house of a prostitute whose    
name          was ,rahab1 and slept     
there4  #jjb3jjb ,the king of ,jericho  
was told1 ,behold1 men of the children  

of ,israel came in here tonight to spy  
out the land4  #jjb3jjc ,the king of    
,jericho sent to ,rahab1 saying1 ,bring 
out the men          who have come to   
you1 who have entered into your house2  
for they have come to spy out all the   
land4  #jjb3jjd ,the woman took the two 
men and hid them4  ,then she said1 ,yes1
          the men came to me1 but ,i    
didn't know where they came from4

the shutting of the gate1 when it       
was dark1 that the men went out4  ,where
 the men went1 ,i don't know4           
,pursue them quickly2 for you will

brought them up to the roof1 and hid    
them with          the stalks of flax1  
which she had laid in order on the roof4

 to the ,jordan to the fords3           
and as soon as those who pursued them   
had gone out1          they shut the

down1 she came up to them on the roof2

know that ,yahweh has given          you
 the land1 and that the fear of you has 
fallen on us1          and that all the 
inhabitants of the land melt away before

,yahweh dried up the water of the       
,red ,seaor1 ,sea of ,reeds before you1 
when you came out of ,egypt2            
and what you did to the two kings of the
 ,amorites1 who were beyond          the
 ,jordan1 to ,sihon and to ,og1 whom you
 utterly destroyed4  #jjb3jaa ,as soon  
as we had heard it1 our hearts melted1  
neither did          there remain any   
more spirit in any man1 because of you3 
for ,yahweh your ,god1 he is ,god in

please swear to me by ,yahweh1 since ,i 
have dealt          kindly with you1    
that you also will deal kindly with my

they have1 and will deliver          our

said to her1 ,our life for yours1 if you
 don't talk          about this business

gives          us the land1 that we will
 deal kindly and truly with you4

cord through the window2          for   
her house was on the side of the wall1  
and she lived          on the wall4

mountain1 lest the pursuers find you2   
and hide yourselves there three days1

returned4  ,afterward1 you may go your

 will be guiltless of this your oath    
which you have made us to swear4

blood will be on his head1 and we will

this business of ours1 then we shall    
be guiltless of your oath which you have

,according to your words1 so be it4     
,she sent them away1          and they  
departed4  ,she tied the scarlet line in

came to the mountain1 and stayed there  
three days1          until the pursuers 
had returned4  ,the pursuers sought them
          throughout all the way1 but   
didn't find them4  #jjb3jbc ,then the   
two men returned1 descended from the    
mountain1          passed over1 and came
 to ,joshua the son of ,nun2 and they   

told          him all that had happened

,joshua1 ,truly ,yahweh has delivered   
into our hands          all the land4   
,moreover1 all the inhabitants of the   
land melt          away before us4

morning2 and they moved from ,shittim1  
and came to the ,jordan1 he and all the 
children of ,israel4          ,they     
lodged there before they passed over4

that the officers went through

they commanded the people1 saying1 ,when

down toward the sea          of the     
,arabah1 even the ,salt ,sea1 were

people passed over right against        
,jericho4  #jjc3jag ,the priests who    
bore the ark of the covenant of ,yahweh 
stood firm on dry ground in the middle  
of the ,jordan2          and all ,israel
 passed over on dry ground1 until all   
the nation          had passed

,it happened1 when all the nation had   
completely passed over          the     
,jordan1 that ,yahweh spoke to ,joshua1

of the people1 out of every tribe a man1

the ,jordan1 out of the place where the

twelve stones1 and carry them over with 
you1 and lay them          down in the  
lodging place1 where you will lodge

 the twelve men1 whom he had prepared   
of the children of ,israel1 out of every
 tribe a man4  #jjd3jje ,joshua said to

pick up          a stone and put it on  
your shoulder1 according to the number

sign among you1 that when your children

',because the waters of the ,jordan

,these stones shall be for a memorial to

,israel did as ,joshua commanded1 and   
took up twelve          stones out of   
the middle of the ,jordan1 as ,yahweh   
spoke to ,joshua1          according to 
the number of the tribes of the children
 of ,israel2          and they carried  
them over with them to the place where  
they lodged1          and laid them down
 there4  #jjd3jji ,joshua set up twelve 
stones in the middle of the ,jordan1    
in the place where the feet of the      
priests who bore the ark          of the
 covenant stood2 and they are there to  
this day4  #jjd3jaj ,for the priests who
 bore the ark stood in the middle of the
 ,jordan1          until everything was 
finished that ,yahweh commanded ,joshua 
to speak          to the people1        
according to all that ,moses commanded  

,joshua2          and the people hurried
 and passed over4  #jjd3jaa ,it         
happened1 when all the people had       
completely passed over1          that   
the ark of ,yahweh passed over1 with the
 priests1          in the presence of   
the people4  #jjd3jab ,the children of  
,reuben1 and the children of ,gad1 and  
the half-tribe          of ,manasseh1   
passed over armed before the children of
 ,israel1          as ,moses spoke to   
them4  #jjd3jac ,about forty thousand   
men1 ready and armed for war passed     
over before ,yahweh to battle1 to the   
plains of ,jericho4  #jjd3jad ,on that

sight of all ,israel2          and they 
feared him1 as they feared ,moses1 all

they come up out of the ,jordan4

stones1 which they took out of

spoke to the children of ,israel1       
saying1 ,when your          children ask

dried up          from before us1 until

the peoples of the earth may know the   
hand of ,yahweh1          that it is    
mighty2 that you may fear ,yahweh your

when all the kings of the ,amorites1 who

westward1 and all the kings of the      
,canaanites1          who were by the   
sea1 heard how that ,yahweh had dried up
          the waters of the ,jordan from

until we had passed over1 that their    
heart melted1 neither was          there
 spirit in them any more1 because of the

 time1 ,yahweh said to ,joshua1 ,make   
flint knives1          and circumcise   
again the children of ,israel the second
 time4  #jje3jjc ,joshua made himself   
flint knives1 and circumcised the       

children          of ,israel at the hill
 of the foreskins4  #jje3jjd ,this is   
the reason ,joshua circumcised3  all the
 people who came          out of ,egypt1
 who were males1 even all the men of    
war1          died in the wilderness by 
the way1 after they came out of ,egypt4

out were circumcised2 but all           
the people who were born in the         
wilderness by the way as they           
came out of ,egypt had not been

 of ,israel walked forty years in the

 of ,egypt1          were consumed1     
because they didn't listen to the voice

their fathers that he would give us1    
a land flowing with milk and honey4

uncircumcised1          because they had
 not circumcised them on the way4

done circumcising all the nation1

 ,i have rolled away the reproach

name of that place          was called

encamped in ,gilgal4  ,they kept        
the ,passover on the fourteenth day of  
the month at evening          in the    
plains of ,jericho4  #jje3jaa ,they ate 
unleavened cakes and parched grain of   
the produce          of the land on the 
next day after the ,passover1 in the    
same day4  #jje3jab ,the manna ceased on
 the next day1 after they had eaten of

children of ,israel didn't have manna   

any more2          but they ate of the  
fruit of the land of ,canaan that year4

his eyes and looked1 and behold1 a man  
stood in front of him          with his

to him1          and said to him1 ,are

your shoes          off of your feet2   
for the place on which you stand is

 trumpets of rams' horns before

when they make a long blast with the

the sound of the trumpet1 all the people

 ,nun called the priests1 and said to   
them1          ,take up the ark of the  
covenant1 and let seven priests bear    
seven trumpets of rams' horns before the

the city1          and let the armed men

 ,it was so1 that when ,joshua had      
spoken to the people1          the seven
 priests bearing the seven trumpets of

advanced1 and blew the trumpets2        
and the ark of the covenant of ,yahweh

went before the priests who blew the    
trumpets1          and the ark went     
after them4  ,the trumpets sounded as

the people1 saying1 ,you shall not      
shout1          nor let your voice be   
heard1 neither shall any word proceed   
out of your mouth1 until the day ,i tell

of ,yahweh to go around the city1       
going about it once4  ,then they came   
into the camp1 and lodged          in

in the morning1 and the priests took up

 priests bearing the seven trumpets of  

rams'          horns before the ark of  
,yahweh went on continually1            
and blew the trumpets3  and the armed   
men went before them4          ,the rear
 guard came after the ark of ,yahweh4   
,the trumpets          sounded as they  
went4  #jjf3jad ,the second day they    
marched around the city once1 and       
returned          into the camp4  ,they 
did this six days4  #jjf3jae ,it        
happened on the seventh day1 that they  
rose early at the dawning          of   
the day1 and marched around the city in 
the same way seven times4          ,only
 on this day they marched around the

blew the trumpets1          ,joshua said
 to the people1 ,shout1 for ,yahweh has

,only ,rahab the prostitute shall live1 
she and all who are with          her in
 the house1 because she hid the

as for you1 only keep yourselves from   
the devoted thing1          lest when   
you have devoted it1 you take of the    
devoted thing2          so would you    
make the camp of ,israel accursed1 and  
trouble it4  #jjf3jai ,but all the      
silver1 and gold1 and vessels of brass  
and iron1          are holy to ,yahweh4 
,they shall come into ,yahweh's         
treasury4  #jjf3jbj ,so the people      
shouted1 and the priests blew the       
trumpets4          ,it happened1 when   
the people heard the sound of the       
trumpet1          that the people       
shouted with a great shout1 and the wall
          fell down flat1 so that the   
people went up into the city1           
every man straight before him1 and they 
took the city4  #jjf3jba ,they utterly  
destroyed all that was in the city1 both
 man          and woman1 both young and 
old1 and ox1 and sheep1 and donkey1     
with the edge of the sword4  #jjf3jbb   
,joshua said to the two men who had     

spied out the land1          ,go into   
the prostitute's house1 and bring out   
from there          the woman and all   
that she has1 as you swore to her4

went in1 and brought out ,rahab         
with her father1 her mother1 her        
brothers1 and all that she had4         
,they also brought out all her          
relatives1 and they set them            
outside of the camp of ,israel4         
#jjf3jbd ,they burnt the city with fire1
 and all that was in it4          ,only 
they put the silver1 the gold1 and the  
vessels of brass          and of iron   
into the treasury of ,yahweh's house4   
#jjf3jbe ,but ,rahab the prostitute1 her
 father's household1 and all            
that she had1 ,joshua saved alive4  ,she
 lived in the midst          of ,israel 
to this day1 because she hid the        
messengers1          whom ,joshua sent  
to spy out ,jericho4  #jjf3jbf ,joshua  
charged them with an oath at that time1 
saying1 ,cursed be          the man     

before ,yahweh1 who rises up and builds 
this city ,jericho4          ,with the  
loss of his firstborn shall he lay its  
foundation1          and with the loss  
of his youngest son shall he set up its

,joshua2 and his fame was in all the

,israel committed a trespass in the     
devoted thing2          for ,achan1 the

and the anger of ,yahweh was kindled    
against the children of ,israel4

drew near1 and came before the city1 and
 encamped          on the north side of

city went out against          ,israel  
to battle1 he and all his people1 at the

all ,israel made as if they were beaten 
before them1          and fled by the

the people who were in the city were    
called together          to pursue after
 them3  and they pursued after ,joshua1 
and were drawn away from the city4

,ai or ,beth ,el1 who didn't          go
 out after ,israel3  and they left the  
city open1          and pursued after

,joshua1 ,stretch out the javelin that  
is in          your hand toward ,ai2 for
 ,i will give it into your hand4        
,joshua stretched out the javelin that  
was in his hand          toward the

quickly out of their place1 and they ran
 as soon          as he had stretched   
out his hand1 and entered into the city1
          and took it2 and they hurried

,when the men of ,ai looked behind them1

 they saw1 and behold1          the     
smoke of the city ascended up to heaven1
 and they had no          power to flee 
this way or that way3  and the people   
who fled          to the wilderness

,when ,joshua and all ,israel saw that  
the ambush had taken the city1          
and that the smoke of the city ascended1
 then they turned again1          and   
killed the men of ,ai4  #jjh3jbb ,the   
others came forth out of the city       
against them2          so they were in  
the midst of ,israel1 some on this side1
          and some on that side3  and   
they struck them1 so that they          
let none of them remain or escape4      
#jjh3jbc ,the king of ,ai they took     
alive1 and brought him to ,joshua4      
#jjh3jbd ,it happened1 when ,israel had 
made an end of killing all the          
inhabitants of ,ai in the field1 in the 
wilderness in which they                
pursued them1 and they were all fallen  
by the edge of the sword1          until

 they were consumed1 that all ,israel   
returned to ,ai1          and struck it 
with the edge of the sword4  #jjh3jbe   
,all that fell that day1 both of men and
 women1 were twelve thousand1           
even all the men of ,ai4  #jjh3jbf ,for 
,joshua didn't draw back his hand1 with 
which he stretched          out the     
javelin1 until he had utterly destroyed

spoil of that city ,israel took         
for prey to themselves1 according to the

 a tree until the evening3          and 
at the going down of the sun ,joshua

body down from the tree1 and cast it at 
the entrance          of the gate of the
 city1 and raised thereon a great heap

,joshua built an altar to ,yahweh1 the  
,god of ,israel1          in ,mount     
,ebal1  #jjh3jca as ,moses the servant  
of ,yahweh commanded the children of

of uncut stones1 on which no man had    
lifted up any iron3          and they   
offered thereon burnt offerings to

to us1 saying1 ,take provision in your  
hand for the journey1          and go to

servants3          and now make you a

bread we took hot for our provision out 
of our houses          on the day we    
came forth to go to you2 but now1       
behold1 it is dry1          and is

wineskins1 which we filled1 were new2   
and behold1          they are torn3  and
 these our garments and our shoes are   
become          old by reason of the

took of their provision1 and didn't ask 
counsel at          the mouth of

with them1 and made a covenant with     
them1          to let them live3  and   
the princes of the congregation         
swore to them4  #jji3jaf ,it happened at
 the end of three days after they had   
made a covenant          with them1 that
 they heard that they were their        
neighbors1          and that they lived 
among them4  #jji3jag ,the children of  
,israel traveled1 and came to their     
cities on          the third day4  ,now 
their cities were ,gibeon1 and          
,chephirah1          and ,beeroth1 and  
,kiriath ,jearim4  #jji3jah ,the        
children of ,israel didn't strike them1 
because the princes          of the     
congregation had sworn to them by       
,yahweh1 the ,god of ,israel4           
,all the congregation murmured against  
the princes4  #jji3jai ,but all the     
princes said to all the congregation1   
,we have sworn to them by ,yahweh1 the  
,god of ,israel3          now therefore 
we may not touch them4  #jji3jbj ,this  
we will do to them1 and let them live2  

lest wrath be on us1          because of
 the oath which we swore to them4

wood cutters and drawers of water to all

,joshua called for them1 and he spoke to

from you2          when you dwell among

cursed1 and there shall never fail to be

 cutters and drawers of water

,because it was certainly          told

,god commanded          his servant     
,moses to give you all the land1 and to 
destroy all the inhabitants of the land

were sore afraid for our lives because  
of you1          and have done this

king of ,jerusalem heard how ,joshua    
had taken ,ai1 and had utterly destroyed
 it2 as he had done          to ,jericho
 and her king1 so he had done to ,ai and

inhabitants of ,gibeon had made peace   
with ,israel1          and were among

greatly1 because ,gibeon was a great    
city1          as one of the royal      
cities1 and because it was greater than

the king of ,eglon1 gathered themselves 
together1 and went up1          they and
 all their armies1 and encamped against 
,gibeon1          and made war against

saying1 ,don't slack your hand from your

,israel1 while they          were at the

cast down          great stones from the
 sky on them to ,azekah1 and they died3 
they were more who died with the        
hailstones than they whom          the  
children of ,israel killed with the     
sword4  #jaj3jab ,then spoke ,joshua to 

,yahweh in the day when ,yahweh         
delivered up the ,amorites before the   
children of ,israel2          and he    
said in the sight of ,israel1 ,sun1     
stand you still          on ,gibeon2    
,you1 ,moon1 in the valley of ,aijalon4

moon stayed1 ,until the nation          
had avenged themselves of their enemies4

listened to the voice of a man3  for

,these five kings fled1 and hid         
themselves in the cave at ,makkedah4

,the five kings are found1              
hidden in the cave at ,makkedah4

stones to the mouth of the cave1        
and set men by it to keep them3

your enemies1 and strike the hindmost   
of them2 don't allow them to enter into

,god has delivered them into your hand4

made an end of killing them with a very 
great slaughter1          until they

remained          of them had entered

that all the people returned to the camp

peace3  none moved his tongue against   
any of          the children of ,israel4

 mouth of the cave1 and bring forth

and encamped against it1 and fought

couldn't drive out the inhabitants

which he swore to give          to their

 trespass          is this that you have

sacrifices1          and with our peace

a snare and a trap to you1 and a scourge
