,this e,book was produced by ,david ,widger with the help of ,derek ,andrew's text from ,january #aiib and the work of ,bryan ,taylor in ,november #bjjb4 ,book #ag ,esther #ag3jja3jja ,now it came to pass in the days of ,ahasuerus1 7this is ,ahasuerus which reigned1 from ,india even unto ,ethiopia1 over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces37 #ag3jja3jjb ,that in those days1 when the king ,ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom1 which was in ,shushan the palace1 #ag3jja3jjc ,in the third year of his reign1 he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants2 the power of ,persia and ,media1 the nobles and princes of the provinces1 being before him3 #ag3jja3jjd ,when he shewed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days1 even an hundred and fourscore days4 #ag3jja3jje ,and when these days were expired1 the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in ,shushan the palace1 both unto great and small1 seven days1 in the court of the garden of the king's palace2 #ag3jja3jjf ,where were white1 green1 and blue1 hangings1 fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble3 the beds were of gold and silver1 upon a pavement of red1 and blue1 and white1 and black1 marble4 #ag3jja3jjg ,and they gave them drink in vessels of gold1 7the vessels being diverse one from another17 and royal wine in abundance1 according to the state of the king4 #ag3jja3jjh ,and the drinking was according to the law2 none did compel3 for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house1 that they should do according to every man's pleasure4 #ag3jja3jji ,also ,vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king ,ahasuerus4 #ag3jja3jaj ,on the seventh day1 when the heart of the king was merry with wine1 he commanded ,mehuman1 ,biztha1 ,harbona1 ,bigtha1 and ,abagtha1 ,zethar1 and ,carcas1 the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of ,ahasuerus the king1 #ag3jja3jaa ,to bring ,vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal1 to shew the people and the princes her beauty3 for she was fair to look on4 #ag3jja3jab ,but the queen ,vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains3 therefore was the king very wroth1 and his anger burned in him4 #ag3jja3jac ,then the king said to the wise men1 which knew the times1 7for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment3 #ag3jja3jad ,and the next unto him was ,carshena1 ,shethar1 ,admatha1 ,tarshish1 ,meres1 ,marsena1 and ,memucan1 the seven princes of ,persia and ,media1 which saw the king's face1 and which sat the first in the kingdom27 #ag3jja3jae ,what shall we do unto the queen ,vashti according to law1 because she hath not performed the commandment of the king ,ahasuerus by the chamberlains8 #ag3jja3jaf ,and ,memucan answered before the king and the princes1 ,vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only1 but also to all the princes1 and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king ,ahasuerus4 #ag3jja3jag ,for this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women1 so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes1 when it shall be reported1 ,the king ,ahasuerus commanded ,vashti the queen to be brought in before him1 but she came not4 #ag3jja3jah ,likewise shall the ladies of ,persia and ,media say this day unto all the king's princes1 which have heard of the deed of the queen4 ,thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath4 #ag3jja3jai ,if it please the king1 let there go a royal commandment from him1 and let it be written among the laws of the ,persians and the ,medes1 that it be not altered1 ,that ,vashti come no more before king ,ahasuerus2 and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she4 #ag3jja3jbj ,and when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire1 7for it is great17 all the wives shall give to their husbands honour1 both to great and small4 #ag3jja3jba ,and the saying pleased the king and the princes2 and the king did according to the word of ,memucan3 #ag3jja3jbb ,for he sent letters into all the king's provinces1 into every province according to the writing thereof1 and to every people after their language1 that every man should bear rule in his own house1 and that it should be published according to the language of every people4 #ag3jjb3jja ,after these things1 when the wrath of king ,ahasuerus was appeased1 he remembered ,vashti1 and what she had done1 and what was decreed against her4 #ag3jjb3jjb ,then said the king's servants that ministered unto him1 ,let there be fair young virgins sought for the king3 #ag3jjb3jjc ,and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom1 that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto ,shushan the palace1 to the house of the women1 unto the custody of ,hege the king's chamberlain1 keeper of the women2 and let their things for purification be given them3 #ag3jjb3jjd ,and let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of ,vashti4 ,and the thing pleased the king2 and he did so4 #ag3jjb3jje ,now in ,shushan the palace there was a certain ,jew1 whose name was ,mordecai1 the son of ,jair1 the son of ,shimei1 the son of ,kish1 a ,benjamite2 #ag3jjb3jjf ,who had been carried away from ,jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with ,jeconiah king of ,judah1 whom ,nebuchadnezzar the king of ,babylon had carried away4 #ag3jjb3jjg ,and he brought up ,hadassah1 that is1 ,esther1 his uncle's daughter3 for she had neither father nor mother1 and the maid was fair and beautiful2 whom ,mordecai1 when her father and mother were dead1 took for his own daughter4 #ag3jjb3jjh ,so it came to pass1 when the king's commandment and his decree was heard1 and when many maidens were gathered together unto ,shushan the palace1 to the custody of ,hegai1 that ,esther was brought also unto the king's house1 to the custody of ,hegai1 keeper of the women4 #ag3jjb3jji ,and the maiden pleased him1 and she obtained kindness of him2 and he speedily gave her her things for purification1 with such things as belonged to her1 and seven maidens1 which were meet to be given her1 out of the king's house3 and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women4 #ag3jjb3jaj ,esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred3 for ,mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it4 #ag3jjb3jaa ,and ,mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house1 to know how ,esther did1 and what should become of her4 #ag3jjb3jab ,now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king ,ahasuerus1 after that she had been twelve months1 according to the manner of the women1 7for so were the days of their purifications accomplished1 to wit1 six months with oil of myrrh1 and six months with sweet odours1 and with other things for the purifying of the women27 #ag3jjb3jac ,then thus came every maiden unto the king2 whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house4 #ag3jjb3jad ,in the evening she went1 and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women1 to the custody of ,shaashgaz1 the king's chamberlain1 which kept the concubines3 she came in unto the king no more1 except the king delighted in her1 and that she were called by name4 #ag3jjb3jae ,now when the turn of ,esther1 the daughter of ,abihail the uncle of ,mordecai1 who had taken her for his daughter1 was come to go in unto the king1 she required nothing but what ,hegai the king's chamberlain1 the keeper of the women1 appointed4 ,and ,esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her4 #ag3jjb3jaf ,so ,esther was taken unto king ,ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month1 which is the month ,tebeth1 in the seventh year of his reign4 #ag3jjb3jag ,and the king loved ,esther above all the women1 and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins2 so that he set the royal crown upon her head1 and made her queen instead of ,vashti4 #ag3jjb3jah ,then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants1 even ,esther's feast2 and he made a release to the provinces1 and gave gifts1 according to the state of the king4 #ag3jjb3jai ,and when the virgins were gathered together the second time1 then ,mordecai sat in the king's gate4 #ag3jjb3jbj ,esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people2 as ,mordecai had charged her3 for ,esther did the commandment of ,mordecai1 like as when she was brought up with him4 #ag3jjb3jba ,in those days1 while ,mordecai sat in the king's gate1 two of the king's chamberlains1 ,bigthan and ,teresh1 of those which kept the door1 were wroth1 and sought to lay hands on the king ,ahasuerus4 #ag3jjb3jbb ,and the thing was known to ,mordecai1 who told it unto ,esther the queen2 and ,esther certified the king thereof in ,mordecai's name4 #ag3jjb3jbc ,and when inquisition was made of the matter1 it was found out2 therefore they were both hanged on a tree3 and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king4 #ag3jjc3jja ,after these things did king ,ahasuerus promote ,haman the son of ,hammedatha the ,agagite1 and advanced him1 and set his seat above all the princes that were with him4 #ag3jjc3jjb ,and all the king's servants1 that were in the king's gate1 bowed1 and reverenced ,haman3 for the king had so commanded concerning him4 ,but ,mordecai bowed not1 nor did him reverence4 #ag3jjc3jjc ,then the king's servants1 which were in the king's gate1 said unto ,mordecai1 ,why transgressest thou the king's commandment8 #ag3jjc3jjd ,now it came to pass1 when they spake daily unto him1 and he hearkened not unto them1 that they told ,haman1 to see whether ,mordecai's matters would stand3 for he had told them that he was a ,jew4 #ag3jjc3jje ,and when ,haman saw that ,mordecai bowed not1 nor did him reverence1 then was ,haman full of wrath4 #ag3jjc3jjf ,and he thought scorn to lay hands on ,mordecai alone2 for they had shewed him the people of ,mordecai3 wherefore ,haman sought to destroy all the ,jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of ,ahasuerus1 even the people of ,mordecai4 #ag3jjc3jjg ,in the first month1 that is1 the month ,nisan1 in the twelfth year of king ,ahasuerus1 they cast ,pur1 that is1 the lot1 before ,haman from day to day1 and from month to month1 to the twelfth month1 that is1 the month ,adar4 #ag3jjc3jjh ,and ,haman said unto king ,ahasuerus1 ,there is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom2 and their laws are diverse from all people2 neither keep they the king's laws3 therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them4 #ag3jjc3jji ,if it please the king1 let it be written that they may be destroyed3 and ,i will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business1 to bring it into the king's treasuries4 #ag3jjc3jaj ,and the king took his ring from his hand1 and gave it unto ,haman the son of ,hammedatha the ,agagite1 the ,jews' enemy4 #ag3jjc3jaa ,and the king said unto ,haman1 ,the silver is given to thee1 the people also1 to do with them as it seemeth good to thee4 #ag3jjc3jab ,then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month1 and there was written according to all that ,haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants1 and to the governors that were over every province1 and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof1 and to every people after their language2 in the name of king ,ahasuerus was it written1 and sealed with the king's ring4 #ag3jjc3jac ,and the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces1 to destroy1 to kill1 and to cause to perish1 all ,jews1 both young and old1 little children and women1 in one day1 even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month1 which is the month ,adar1 and to take the spoil of them for a prey4 #ag3jjc3jad ,the copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people1 that they should be ready against that day4 #ag3jjc3jae ,the posts went out1 being hastened by the king's commandment1 and the decree was given in ,shushan the palace4 ,and the king and ,haman sat down to drink2 but the city ,shushan was perplexed4 #ag3jjd3jja ,when ,mordecai perceived all that was done1 ,mordecai rent his clothes1 and put on sackcloth with ashes1 and went out into the midst of the city1 and cried with a loud and a bitter cry2 #ag3jjd3jjb ,and came even before the king's gate3 for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth4 #ag3jjd3jjc ,and in every province1 whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came1 there was great mourning among the ,jews1 and fasting1 and weeping1 and wailing2 and many lay in sackcloth and ashes4 #ag3jjd3jjd ,so ,esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her4 ,then was the queen exceedingly grieved2 and she sent raiment to clothe ,mordecai1 and to take away his sackcloth from him3 but he received it not4 #ag3jjd3jje ,then called ,esther for ,hatach1 one of the king's chamberlains1 whom he had appointed to attend upon her1 and gave him a commandment to ,mordecai1 to know what it was1 and why it was4 #ag3jjd3jjf ,so ,hatach went forth to ,mordecai unto the street of the city1 which was before the king's gate4 #ag3jjd3jjg ,and ,mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him1 and of the sum of the money that ,haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the ,jews1 to destroy them4 #ag3jjd3jjh ,also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at ,shushan to destroy them1 to shew it unto ,esther1 and to declare it unto her1 and to charge her that she should go in unto the king1 to make supplication unto him1 and to make request before him for her people4 #ag3jjd3jji ,and ,hatach came and told ,esther the words of ,mordecai4 #ag3jjd3jaj ,again ,esther spake unto ,hatach1 and gave him commandment unto ,mordecai2 #ag3jjd3jaa ,all the king's servants1 and the people of the king's provinces1 do know1 that whosoever1 whether man or women1 shall come unto the king into the inner court1 who is not called1 there is one law of his to put him to death1 except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre1 that he may live3 but ,i have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days4 #ag3jjd3jab ,and they told to ,mordecai ,esther's words4 #ag3jjd3jac ,then ,mordecai commanded to answer ,esther1 ,think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house1 more than all the ,jews4 #ag3jjd3jad ,for if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time1 then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the ,jews from another place2 but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed3 and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this8 #ag3jjd3jae ,then ,esther bade them return ,mordecai this answer1 #ag3jjd3jaf ,go1 gather together all the ,jews that are present in ,shushan1 and fast ye for me1 and neither eat nor drink three days1 night or day3 ,i also and my maidens will fast likewise2 and so will ,i go in unto the king1 which is not according to the law3 and if ,i perish1 ,i perish4 #ag3jjd3jag ,so ,mordecai went his way1 and did according to all that ,esther had commanded him4 #ag3jje3jja ,now it came to pass on the third day1 that ,esther put on her royal apparel1 and stood in the inner court of the king's house1 over against the king's house3 and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house1 over against the gate of the house4 #ag3jje3jjb ,and it was so1 when the king saw ,esther the queen standing in the court1 that she obtained favour in his sight3 and the king held out to ,esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand4 ,so ,esther drew near1 and touched the top of the sceptre4 #ag3jje3jjc ,then said the king unto her1 ,what wilt thou1 queen ,esther8 and what is thy request8 it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom4 #ag3jje3jjd ,and ,esther answered1 ,if it seem good unto the king1 let the king and ,haman come this day unto the banquet that ,i have prepared for him4 #ag3jje3jje ,then the king said1 ,cause ,haman to make haste1 that he may do as ,esther hath said4 ,so the king and ,haman came to the banquet that ,esther had prepared4 #ag3jje3jjf ,and the king said unto ,esther at the banquet of wine1 ,what is thy petition8 and it shall be granted thee3 and what is thy request8 even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed4 #ag3jje3jjg ,then answered ,esther1 and said1 ,my petition and my request is2 #ag3jje3jjh ,if ,i have found favour in the sight of the king1 and if it please the king to grant my petition1 and to perform my request1 let the king and ,haman come to the banquet that ,i shall prepare for them1 and ,i will do to morrow as the king hath said4 #ag3jje3jji ,then went ,haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart3 but when ,haman saw ,mordecai in the king's gate1 that he stood not up1 nor moved for him1 he was full of indignation against ,mordecai4 #ag3jje3jaj ,nevertheless ,haman refrained himself3 and when he came home1 he sent and called for his friends1 and ,zeresh his wife4 #ag3jje3jaa ,and ,haman told them of the glory of his riches1 and the multitude of his children1 and all the things wherein the king had promoted him1 and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king4 #ag3jje3jab ,haman said moreover1 ,yea1 ,esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself2 and to morrow am ,i invited unto her also with the king4 #ag3jje3jac ,yet all this availeth me nothing1 so long as ,i see ,mordecai the ,jew sitting at the king's gate4 #ag3jje3jad ,then said ,zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him1 ,let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high1 and to morrow speak thou unto the king that ,mordecai may be hanged thereon3 then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet4 ,and the thing pleased ,haman2 and he caused the gallows to be made4 #ag3jjf3jja ,on that night could not the king sleep1 and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles2 and they were read before the king4 #ag3jjf3jjb ,and it was found written1 that ,mordecai had told of ,bigthana and ,teresh1 two of the king's chamberlains1 the keepers of the door1 who sought to lay hand on the king ,ahasuerus4 #ag3jjf3jjc ,and the king said1 ,what honour and dignity hath been done to ,mordecai for this8 ,then said the king's servants that ministered unto him1 ,there is nothing done for him4 #ag3jjf3jjd ,and the king said1 ,who is in the court8 ,now ,haman was come into the outward court of the king's house1 to speak unto the king to hang ,mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him4 #ag3jjf3jje ,and the king's servants said unto him1 ,behold1 ,haman standeth in the court4 ,and the king said1 ,let him come in4 #ag3jjf3jjf ,so ,haman came in4 ,and the king said unto him1 ,what shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour8 ,now ,haman thought in his heart1 ,to whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself8 #ag3jjf3jjg ,and ,haman answered the king1 ,for the man whom the king delighteth to honour1 #ag3jjf3jjh ,let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear1 and the horse that the king rideth upon1 and the crown royal which is set upon his head3 #ag3jjf3jji ,and let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes1 that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour1 and bring him on horseback through the street of the city1 and proclaim before him1 ,thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour4 #ag3jjf3jaj ,then the king said to ,haman1 ,make haste1 and take the apparel and the horse1 as thou hast said1 and do even so to ,mordecai the ,jew1 that sitteth at the king's gate3 let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken4 #ag3jjf3jaa ,then took ,haman the apparel and the horse1 and arrayed ,mordecai1 and brought him on horseback through the street of the city1 and proclaimed before him1 ,thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour4 #ag3jjf3jab ,and ,mordecai came again to the king's gate4 ,but ,haman hasted to his house mourning1 and having his head covered4 #ag3jjf3jac ,and ,haman told ,zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him4 ,then said his wise men and ,zeresh his wife unto him1 ,if ,mordecai be of the seed of the ,jews1 before whom thou hast begun to fall1 thou shalt not prevail against him1 but shalt surely fall before him4 #ag3jjf3jad ,and while they were yet talking with him1 came the king's chamberlains1 and hasted to bring ,haman unto the banquet that ,esther had prepared4 #ag3jjg3jja ,so the king and ,haman came to banquet with ,esther the queen4 #ag3jjg3jjb ,and the king said again unto ,esther on the second day at the banquet of wine1 ,what is thy petition1 queen ,esther8 and it shall be granted thee3 and what is thy request8 and it shall be performed1 even to the half of the kingdom4 #ag3jjg3jjc ,then ,esther the queen answered and said1 ,if ,i have found favour in thy sight1 ,o king1 and if it please the king1 let my life be given me at my petition1 and my people at my request3 #ag3jjg3jjd ,for we are sold1 ,i and my people1 to be destroyed1 to be slain1 and to perish4 ,but if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen1 ,i had held my tongue1 although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage4 #ag3jjg3jje ,then the king ,ahasuerus answered and said unto ,esther the queen1 ,who is he1 and where is he1 that durst presume in his heart to do so8 #ag3jjg3jjf ,and ,esther said1 ,the adversary and enemy is this wicked ,haman4 ,then ,haman was afraid before the king and the queen4 #ag3jjg3jjg ,and the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden3 and ,haman stood up to make request for his life to ,esther the queen2 for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king4 #ag3jjg3jjh ,then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine2 and ,haman was fallen upon the bed whereon ,esther was4 ,then said the king1 ,will he force the queen also before me in the house8 ,as the word went out of king's mouth1 they covered ,haman's face4 #ag3jjg3jji ,and ,harbonah1 one of the chamberlains1 said before the king1 ,behold also1 the gallows fifty cubits high1 which ,haman had made for ,mordecai1 who spoken good for the king1 standeth in the house of ,haman4 ,then the king said1 ,hang him thereon4 #ag3jjg3jaj ,so they hanged ,haman on the gallows that he had prepared for ,mordecai4 ,then was the king's wrath pacified4 #ag3jjh3jja ,on that day did the king ,ahasuerus give the house of ,haman the ,jews' enemy unto ,esther the queen4 ,and ,mordecai came before the king2 for ,esther had told what he was unto her4 #ag3jjh3jjb ,and the king took off his ring1 which he had taken from ,haman1 and gave it unto ,mordecai4 ,and ,esther set ,mordecai over the house of ,haman4 #ag3jjh3jjc ,and ,esther spake yet again before the king1 and fell down at his feet1 and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of ,haman the ,agagite1 and his device that he had devised against the ,jews4 #ag3jjh3jjd ,then the king held out the golden sceptre toward ,esther4 ,so ,esther arose1 and stood before the king1 #ag3jjh3jje ,and said1 ,if it please the king1 and if ,i have favour in his sight1 and the thing seem right before the king1 and ,i be pleasing in his eyes1 let it be written to reverse the letters devised by ,haman the son of ,hammedatha the ,agagite1 which he wrote to destroy the ,jews which are in all the king's provinces3 #ag3jjh3jjf ,for how can ,i endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people8 or how can ,i endure to see the destruction of my kindred8 #ag3jjh3jjg ,then the king ,ahasuerus said unto ,esther the queen and to ,mordecai the ,jew1 ,behold1 ,i have given ,esther the house of ,haman1 and him they have hanged upon the gallows1 because he laid his hand upon the ,jews4 #ag3jjh3jjh ,write ye also for the ,jews1 as it liketh you1 in the king's name1 and seal it with the king's ring3 for the writing which is written in the king's name1 and sealed with the king's ring1 may no man reverse4 #ag3jjh3jji ,then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month1 that is1 the month ,sivan1 on the three and twentieth day thereof2 and it was written according to all that ,mordecai commanded unto the ,jews1 and to the lieutenants1 and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from ,india unto ,ethiopia1 an hundred twenty and seven provinces1 unto every province according to the writing thereof1 and unto every people after their language1 and to the ,jews according to their writing1 and according to their language4 #ag3jjh3jaj ,and he wrote in the king ,ahasuerus' name1 and sealed it with the king's ring1 and sent letters by posts on horseback1 and riders on mules1 camels1 and young dromedaries3 #ag3jjh3jaa ,wherein the king granted the ,jews which were in every city to gather themselves together1 and to stand for their life1 to destroy1 to slay and to cause to perish1 all the power of the people and province that would assault them1 both little ones and women1 and to take the spoil of them for a prey1 #ag3jjh3jab ,upon one day in all the provinces of king ,ahasuerus1 namely1 upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month1 which is the month ,adar4 #ag3jjh3jac ,the copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people1 and that the ,jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies4 #ag3jjh3jad ,so the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out1 being hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment4 ,and the decree was given at ,shushan the palace4 #ag3jjh3jae ,and ,mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white1 and with a great crown of gold1 and with a garment of fine linen and purple3 and the city of ,shushan rejoiced and was glad4 #ag3jjh3jaf ,the ,jews had light1 and gladness1 and joy1 and honour4 #ag3jjh3jag ,and in every province1 and in every city1 whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came1 the ,jews had joy and gladness1 a feast and a good day4 ,and many of the people of the land became ,jews2 for the fear of the ,jews fell upon them4 #ag3jji3jja ,now in the twelfth month1 that is1 the month ,adar1 on the thirteenth day of the same1 when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution1 in the day that the enemies of the ,jews hoped to have power over them1 7though it was turned to the contrary1 that the ,jews had rule over them that hated them27 #ag3jji3jjb ,the ,jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king ,ahasuerus1 to lay hand on such as sought their hurt3 and no man could withstand them2 for the fear of them fell upon all people4 #ag3jji3jjc ,and all the rulers of the provinces1 and the lieutenants1 and the deputies1 and officers of the king1 helped the ,jews2 because the fear of ,mordecai fell upon them4 #ag3jji3jjd ,for ,mordecai was great in the king's house1 and his fame went out throughout all the provinces3 for this man ,mordecai waxed greater and greater4 #ag3jji3jje ,thus the ,jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword1 and slaughter1 and destruction1 and did what they would unto those that hated them4 #ag3jji3jjf ,and in ,shushan the palace the ,jews slew and destroyed five hundred men4 #ag3jji3jjg ,and ,parshandatha1 and ,dalphon1 and ,aspatha1 #ag3jji3jjh ,and ,poratha1 and ,adalia1 and ,aridatha1 #ag3jji3jji ,and ,parmashta1 and ,arisai1 and ,aridai1 and ,vajezatha1 #ag3jji3jaj ,the ten sons of ,haman the son of ,hammedatha1 the enemy of the ,jews1 slew they2 but on the spoil laid they not their hand4 #ag3jji3jaa ,on that day the number of those that were slain in ,shushan the palace was brought before the king4 #ag3jji3jab ,and the king said unto ,esther the queen1 ,the ,jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in ,shushan the palace1 and the ten sons of ,haman2 what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces8 now what is thy petition8 and it shall be granted thee3 or what is thy request further8 and it shall be done4 #ag3jji3jac ,then said ,esther1 ,if it please the king1 let it be granted to the ,jews which are in ,shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day's decree1 and let ,haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows4 #ag3jji3jad ,and the king commanded it so to be done3 and the decree was given at ,shushan2 and they hanged ,haman's ten sons4 #ag3jji3jae ,for the ,jews that were in ,shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month ,adar1 and slew three hundred men at ,shushan2 but on the prey they laid not their hand4 #ag3jji3jaf ,but the other ,jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together1 and stood for their lives1 and had rest from their enemies1 and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand1 but they laid not their hands on the prey1 #ag3jji3jag ,on the thirteenth day of the month ,adar2 and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they1 and made it a day of feasting and gladness4 #ag3jji3jah ,but the ,jews that were at ,shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof1 and on the fourteenth thereof2 and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested1 and made it a day of feasting and gladness4 #ag3jji3jai ,therefore the ,jews of the villages1 that dwelt in the unwalled towns1 made the fourteenth day of the month ,adar a day of gladness and feasting1 and a good day1 and of sending portions one to another4 #ag3jji3jbj ,and ,mordecai wrote these things1 and sent letters unto all the ,jews that were in all the provinces of the king ,ahasuerus1 both nigh and far1 #ag3jji3jba ,to stablish this among them1 that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month ,adar1 and the fifteenth day of the same1 yearly1 #ag3jji3jbb ,as the days wherein the ,jews rested from their enemies1 and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy1 and from mourning into a good day3 that they should make them days of feasting and joy1 and of sending portions one to another1 and gifts to the poor4 #ag3jji3jbc ,and the ,jews undertook to do as they had begun1 and as ,mordecai had written unto them2 #ag3jji3jbd ,because ,haman the son of ,hammedatha1 the ,agagite1 the enemy of all the ,jews1 had devised against the ,jews to destroy them1 and had cast ,pur1 that is1 the lot1 to consume them1 and to destroy them2 #ag3jji3jbe ,but when ,esther came before the king1 he commanded by letters that his wicked device1 which he devised against the ,jews1 should return upon his own head1 and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows4 #ag3jji3jbf ,wherefore they called these days ,purim after the name of ,pur4 ,therefore for all the words of this letter1 and of that which they had seen concerning this matter1 and which had come unto them1 #ag3jji3jbg ,the ,jews ordained1 and took upon them1 and upon their seed1 and upon all such as joined themselves unto them1 so as it should not fail1 that they would keep these two days according to their writing1 and according to their appointed time every year2 #ag3jji3jbh ,and that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation1 every family1 every province1 and every city2 and that these days of ,purim should not fail from among the ,jews1 nor the memorial of them perish from their seed4 #ag3jji3jbi ,then ,esther the queen1 the daughter of ,abihail1 and ,mordecai the ,jew1 wrote with all authority1 to confirm this second letter of ,purim4 #ag3jji3jcj ,and he sent the letters unto all the ,jews1 to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of ,ahasuerus1 with words of peace and truth1 #ag3jji3jca ,to confirm these days of ,purim in their times appointed1 according as ,mordecai the ,jew and ,esther the queen had enjoined them1 and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed1 the matters of the fastings and their cry4 #ag3jji3jcb ,and the decree of ,esther confirmed these matters of ,purim2 and it was written in the book4 #ag3jaj3jja ,and the king ,ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land1 and upon the isles of the sea4 #ag3jaj3jjb ,and all the acts of his power and of his might1 and the declaration of the greatness of ,mordecai1 whereunto the king advanced him1 are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of ,media and ,persia8 #ag3jaj3jjc ,for ,mordecai the ,jew was next unto king ,ahasuerus1 and great among the ,jews1 and accepted of the multitude of his brethren1 seeking the wealth of his people1 and speaking peace to all his seed4
