,this e,book was produced by ,david ,widger with the help of ,derek ,andrew's text from ,january #aiib and the work of ,bryan ,taylor in ,november #bjjb4 ,book #jg ,judges #jg3jja3jja ,now after the death of ,joshua it came to pass1 that the children of ,israel asked the ,,lord1 saying1 ,who shall go up for us against the ,canaanites first1 to fight against them8 #jg3jja3jjb ,and the ,,lord said1 ,judah shall go up3 behold1 ,i have delivered the land into his hand4 #jg3jja3jjc ,and ,judah said unto ,simeon his brother1 ,come up with me into my lot1 that we may fight against the ,canaanites2 and ,i likewise will go with thee into thy lot4 ,so ,simeon went with him4 #jg3jja3jjd ,and ,judah went up2 and the ,,lord delivered the ,canaanites and the ,perizzites into their hand3 and they slew of them in ,bezek ten thousand men4 #jg3jja3jje ,and they found ,adonibezek in ,bezek3 and they fought against him1 and they slew the ,canaanites and the ,perizzites4 #jg3jja3jjf ,but ,adonibezek fled2 and they pursued after him1 and caught him1 and cut off his thumbs and his great toes4 #jg3jja3jjg ,and ,adonibezek said1 ,threescore and ten kings1 having their thumbs and their great toes cut off1 gathered their meat under my table3 as ,i have done1 so ,god hath requited me4 ,and they brought him to ,jerusalem1 and there he died4 #jg3jja3jjh ,now the children of ,judah had fought against ,jerusalem1 and had taken it1 and smitten it with the edge of the sword1 and set the city on fire4 #jg3jja3jji ,and afterward the children of ,judah went down to fight against the ,canaanites1 that dwelt in the mountain1 and in the south1 and in the valley4 #jg3jja3jaj ,and ,judah went against the ,canaanites that dwelt in ,hebron3 7now the name of ,hebron before was ,kirjatharba37 and they slew ,sheshai1 and ,ahiman1 and ,talmai4 #jg3jja3jaa ,and from thence he went against the inhabitants of ,debir3 and the name of ,debir before was ,kirjathsepher3 #jg3jja3jab ,and ,caleb said1 ,he that smiteth ,kirjathsepher1 and taketh it1 to him will ,i give ,achsah my daughter to wife4 #jg3jja3jac ,and ,othniel the son of ,kenaz1 ,caleb's younger brother1 took it3 and he gave him ,achsah his daughter to wife4 #jg3jja3jad ,and it came to pass1 when she came to him1 that she moved him to ask of her father a field3 and she lighted from off her ass2 and ,caleb said unto her1 ,what wilt thou8 #jg3jja3jae ,and she said unto him1 ,give me a blessing3 for thou hast given me a south land2 give me also springs of water4 ,and ,caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs4 #jg3jja3jaf ,and the children of the ,kenite1 ,moses' father in law1 went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of ,judah into the wilderness of ,judah1 which lieth in the south of ,arad2 and they went and dwelt among the people4 #jg3jja3jag ,and ,judah went with ,simeon his brother1 and they slew the ,canaanites that inhabited ,zephath1 and utterly destroyed it4 ,and the name of the city was called ,hormah4 #jg3jja3jah ,also ,judah took ,gaza with the coast thereof1 and ,askelon with the coast thereof1 and ,ekron with the coast thereof4 #jg3jja3jai ,and the ,,lord was with ,judah2 and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain2 but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley1 because they had chariots of iron4 #jg3jja3jbj ,and they gave ,hebron unto ,caleb1 as ,moses said3 and he expelled thence the three sons of ,anak4 #jg3jja3jba ,and the children of ,benjamin did not drive out the ,jebusites that inhabited ,jerusalem2 but the ,jebusites dwell with the children of ,benjamin in ,jerusalem unto this day4 #jg3jja3jbb ,and the house of ,joseph1 they also went up against ,bethel3 and the ,,lord was with them4 #jg3jja3jbc ,and the house of ,joseph sent to descry ,bethel4 7,now the name of the city before was ,luz47 #jg3jja3jbd ,and the spies saw a man come forth out of the city1 and they said unto him1 ,shew us1 we pray thee1 the entrance into the city1 and we will shew thee mercy4 #jg3jja3jbe ,and when he shewed them the entrance into the city1 they smote the city with the edge of the sword2 but they let go the man and all his family4 #jg3jja3jbf ,and the man went into the land of the ,hittites1 and built a city1 and called the name thereof ,luz3 which is the name thereof unto this day4 #jg3jja3jbg ,neither did ,manasseh drive out the inhabitants of ,bethshean and her towns1 nor ,taanach and her towns1 nor the inhabitants of ,dor and her towns1 nor the inhabitants of ,ibleam and her towns1 nor the inhabitants of ,megiddo and her towns3 but the ,canaanites would dwell in that land4 #jg3jja3jbh ,and it came to pass1 when ,israel was strong1 that they put the ,canaanites to tribute1 and did not utterly drive them out4 #jg3jja3jbi ,neither did ,ephraim drive out the ,canaanites that dwelt in ,gezer2 but the ,canaanites dwelt in ,gezer among them4 #jg3jja3jcj ,neither did ,zebulun drive out the inhabitants of ,kitron1 nor the inhabitants of ,nahalol2 but the ,canaanites dwelt among them1 and became tributaries4 #jg3jja3jca ,neither did ,asher drive out the inhabitants of ,accho1 nor the inhabitants of ,zidon1 nor of ,ahlab1 nor of ,achzib1 nor of ,helbah1 nor of ,aphik1 nor of ,rehob3 #jg3jja3jcb ,but the ,asherites dwelt among the ,canaanites1 the inhabitants of the land3 for they did not drive them out4 #jg3jja3jcc ,neither did ,naphtali drive out the inhabitants of ,bethshemesh1 nor the inhabitants of ,bethanath2 but he dwelt among the ,canaanites1 the inhabitants of the land3 nevertheless the inhabitants of ,bethshemesh and of ,bethanath became tributaries unto them4 #jg3jja3jcd ,and the ,amorites forced the children of ,dan into the mountain3 for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley3 #jg3jja3jce ,but the ,amorites would dwell in mount ,heres in ,aijalon1 and in ,shaalbim3 yet the hand of the house of ,joseph prevailed1 so that they became tributaries4 #jg3jja3jcf ,and the coast of the ,amorites was from the going up to ,akrabbim1 from the rock1 and upward4 #jg3jjb3jja ,and an angel of the ,,lord came up from ,gilgal to ,bochim1 and said1 ,i made you to go up out of ,egypt1 and have brought you unto the land which ,i sware unto your fathers2 and ,i said1 ,i will never break my covenant with you4 #jg3jjb3jjb ,and ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land2 ye shall throw down their altars3 but ye have not obeyed my voice3 why have ye done this8 #jg3jjb3jjc ,wherefore ,i also said1 ,i will not drive them out from before you2 but they shall be as thorns in your sides1 and their gods shall be a snare unto you4 #jg3jjb3jjd ,and it came to pass1 when the angel of the ,,lord spake these words unto all the children of ,israel1 that the people lifted up their voice1 and wept4 #jg3jjb3jje ,and they called the name of that place ,bochim3 and they sacrificed there unto the ,,lord4 #jg3jjb3jjf ,and when ,joshua had let the people go1 the children of ,israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land4 #jg3jjb3jjg ,and the people served the ,,lord all the days of ,joshua1 and all the days of the elders that outlived ,joshua1 who had seen all the great works of the ,,lord1 that he did for ,israel4 #jg3jjb3jjh ,and ,joshua the son of ,nun1 the servant of the ,,lord1 died1 being an hundred and ten years old4 #jg3jjb3jji ,and they buried him in the border of his inheritance in ,timnathheres1 in the mount of ,ephraim1 on the north side of the hill ,gaash4 #jg3jjb3jaj ,and also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers3 and there arose another generation after them1 which knew not the ,,lord1 nor yet the works which he had done for ,israel4 #jg3jjb3jaa ,and the children of ,israel did evil in the sight of the ,,lord1 and served ,baalim3 #jg3jjb3jab ,and they forsook the ,,lord ,god of their fathers1 which brought them out of the land of ,egypt1 and followed other gods1 of the gods of the people that were round about them1 and bowed themselves unto them1 and provoked the ,,lord to anger4 #jg3jjb3jac ,and they forsook the ,,lord1 and served ,baal and ,ashtaroth4 #jg3jjb3jad ,and the anger of the ,,lord was hot against ,israel1 and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them1 and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about1 so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies4 #jg3jjb3jae ,whithersoever they went out1 the hand of the ,,lord was against them for evil1 as the ,,lord had said1 and as the ,,lord had sworn unto them3 and they were greatly distressed4 #jg3jjb3jaf ,nevertheless the ,,lord raised up judges1 which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them4 #jg3jjb3jag ,and yet they would not hearken unto their judges1 but they went a whoring after other gods1 and bowed themselves unto them3 they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in1 obeying the commandments of the ,,lord2 but they did not so4 #jg3jjb3jah ,and when the ,,lord raised them up judges1 then the ,,lord was with the judge1 and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge3 for it repented the ,,lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them4 #jg3jjb3jai ,and it came to pass1 when the judge was dead1 that they returned1 and corrupted themselves more than their fathers1 in following other gods to serve them1 and to bow down unto them2 they ceased not from their own doings1 nor from their stubborn way4 #jg3jjb3jbj ,and the anger of the ,,lord was hot against ,israel2 and he said1 ,because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which ,i commanded their fathers1 and have not hearkened unto my voice2 #jg3jjb3jba ,i also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which ,joshua left when he died3 #jg3jjb3jbb ,that through them ,i may prove ,israel1 whether they will keep the way of the ,,lord to walk therein1 as their fathers did keep it1 or not4 #jg3jjb3jbc ,therefore the ,,lord left those nations1 without driving them out hastily2 neither delivered he them into the hand of ,joshua4 #jg3jjc3jja ,now these are the nations which the ,,lord left1 to prove ,israel by them1 even as many of ,israel as had not known all the wars of ,canaan2 #jg3jjc3jjb ,only that the generations of the children of ,israel might know1 to teach them war1 at the least such as before knew nothing thereof2 #jg3jjc3jjc ,namely1 five lords of the ,philistines1 and all the ,canaanites1 and the ,sidonians1 and the ,hivites that dwelt in mount ,lebanon1 from mount ,baalhermon unto the entering in of ,hamath4 #jg3jjc3jjd ,and they were to prove ,israel by them1 to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the ,,lord1 which he commanded their fathers by the hand of ,moses4 #jg3jjc3jje ,and the children of ,israel dwelt among the ,canaanites1 ,hittites1 and ,amorites1 and ,perizzites1 and ,hivites1 and ,jebusites3 #jg3jjc3jjf ,and they took their daughters to be their wives1 and gave their daughters to their sons1 and served their gods4 #jg3jjc3jjg ,and the children of ,israel did evil in the sight of the ,,lord1 and forgat the ,,lord their ,god1 and served ,baalim and the groves4 #jg3jjc3jjh ,therefore the anger of the ,,lord was hot against ,israel1 and he sold them into the hand of ,chushanrishathaim king of ,mesopotamia3 and the children of ,israel served ,chushanrishathaim eight years4 #jg3jjc3jji ,and when the children of ,israel cried unto the ,,lord1 the ,,lord raised up a deliverer to the children of ,israel1 who delivered them1 even ,othniel the son of ,kenaz1 ,caleb's younger brother4 #jg3jjc3jaj ,and the ,spirit of the ,,lord came upon him1 and he judged ,israel1 and went out to war3 and the ,,lord delivered ,chushanrishathaim king of ,mesopotamia into his hand2 and his hand prevailed against ,chushanrishathaim4 #jg3jjc3jaa ,and the land had rest forty years4 ,and ,othniel the son of ,kenaz died4 #jg3jjc3jab ,and the children of ,israel did evil again in the sight of the ,,lord3 and the ,,lord strengthened ,eglon the king of ,moab against ,israel1 because they had done evil in the sight of the ,,lord4 #jg3jjc3jac ,and he gathered unto him the children of ,ammon and ,amalek1 and went and smote ,israel1 and possessed the city of palm trees4 #jg3jjc3jad ,so the children of ,israel served ,eglon the king of ,moab eighteen years4 #jg3jjc3jae ,but when the children of ,israel cried unto the ,,lord1 the ,,lord raised them up a deliverer1 ,ehud the son of ,gera1 a ,benjamite1 a man lefthanded3 and by him the children of ,israel sent a present unto ,eglon the king of ,moab4 #jg3jjc3jaf ,but ,ehud made him a dagger which had two edges1 of a cubit length2 and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh4 #jg3jjc3jag ,and he brought the present unto ,eglon king of ,moab3 and ,eglon was a very fat man4 #jg3jjc3jah ,and when he had made an end to offer the present1 he sent away the people that bare the present4 #jg3jjc3jai ,but he himself turned again from the quarries that were by ,gilgal1 and said1 ,i have a secret errand unto thee1 ,o king3 who said1 ,keep silence4 ,and all that stood by him went out from him4 #jg3jjc3jbj ,and ,ehud came unto him2 and he was sitting in a summer parlour1 which he had for himself alone4 ,and ,ehud said1 ,i have a message from ,god unto thee4 ,and he arose out of his seat4 #jg3jjc3jba ,and ,ehud put forth his left hand1 and took the dagger from his right thigh1 and thrust it into his belly3 #jg3jjc3jbb ,and the haft also went in after the blade2 and the fat closed upon the blade1 so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly2 and the dirt came out4 #jg3jjc3jbc ,then ,ehud went forth through the porch1 and shut the doors of the parlour upon him1 and locked them4 #jg3jjc3jbd ,when he was gone out1 his servants came2 and when they saw that1 behold1 the doors of the parlour were locked1 they said1 ,surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber4 #jg3jjc3jbe ,and they tarried till they were ashamed3 and1 behold1 he opened not the doors of the parlour2 therefore they took a key1 and opened them3 and1 behold1 their lord was fallen down dead on the earth4 #jg3jjc3jbf ,and ,ehud escaped while they tarried1 and passed beyond the quarries1 and escaped unto ,seirath4 #jg3jjc3jbg ,and it came to pass1 when he was come1 that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of ,ephraim1 and the children of ,israel went down with him from the mount1 and he before them4 #jg3jjc3jbh ,and he said unto them1 ,follow after me3 for the ,,lord hath delivered your enemies the ,moabites into your hand4 ,and they went down after him1 and took the fords of ,jordan toward ,moab1 and suffered not a man to pass over4 #jg3jjc3jbi ,and they slew of ,moab at that time about ten thousand men1 all lusty1 and all men of valour2 and there escaped not a man4 #jg3jjc3jcj ,so ,moab was subdued that day under the hand of ,israel4 ,and the land had rest fourscore years4 #jg3jjc3jca ,and after him was ,shamgar the son of ,anath1 which slew of the ,philistines six hundred men with an ox goad3 and he also delivered ,israel4 #jg3jjd3jja ,and the children of ,israel again did evil in the sight of the ,,lord1 when ,ehud was dead4 #jg3jjd3jjb ,and the ,,lord sold them into the hand of ,jabin king of ,canaan1 that reigned in ,hazor2 the captain of whose host was ,sisera1 which dwelt in ,harosheth of the ,gentiles4 #jg3jjd3jjc ,and the children of ,israel cried unto the ,,lord3 for he had nine hundred chariots of iron2 and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of ,israel4 #jg3jjd3jjd ,and ,deborah1 a prophetess1 the wife of ,lapidoth1 she judged ,israel at that time4 #jg3jjd3jje ,and she dwelt under the palm tree of ,deborah between ,ramah and ,bethel in mount ,ephraim3 and the children of ,israel came up to her for judgment4 #jg3jjd3jjf ,and she sent and called ,barak the son of ,abinoam out of ,kedeshnaphtali1 and said unto him1 ,hath not the ,,lord ,god of ,israel commanded1 saying1 ,go and draw toward mount ,tabor1 and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of ,naphtali and of the children of ,zebulun8 #jg3jjd3jjg ,and ,i will draw unto thee to the river ,kishon ,sisera1 the captain of ,jabin's army1 with his chariots and his multitude2 and ,i will deliver him into thine hand4 #jg3jjd3jjh ,and ,barak said unto her1 ,if thou wilt go with me1 then ,i will go3 but if thou wilt not go with me1 then ,i will not go4 #jg3jjd3jji ,and she said1 ,i will surely go with thee3 notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour2 for the ,,lord shall sell ,sisera into the hand of a woman4 ,and ,deborah arose1 and went with ,barak to ,kedesh4 #jg3jjd3jaj ,and ,barak called ,zebulun and ,naphtali to ,kedesh2 and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet3 and ,deborah went up with him4 #jg3jjd3jaa ,now ,heber the ,kenite1 which was of the children of ,hobab the father in law of ,moses1 had severed himself from the ,kenites1 and pitched his tent unto the plain of ,zaanaim1 which is by ,kedesh4 #jg3jjd3jab ,and they shewed ,sisera that ,barak the son of ,abinoam was gone up to mount ,tabor4 #jg3jjd3jac ,and ,sisera gathered together all his chariots1 even nine hundred chariots of iron1 and all the people that were with him1 from ,harosheth of the ,gentiles unto the river of ,kishon4 #jg3jjd3jad ,and ,deborah said unto ,barak1 ,up2 for this is the day in which the ,,lord hath delivered ,sisera into thine hand3 is not the ,,lord gone out before thee8 ,so ,barak went down from mount ,tabor1 and ten thousand men after him4 #jg3jjd3jae ,and the ,,lord discomfited ,sisera1 and all his chariots1 and all his host1 with the edge of the sword before ,barak2 so that ,sisera lighted down off his chariot1 and fled away on his feet4 #jg3jjd3jaf ,but ,barak pursued after the chariots1 and after the host1 unto ,harosheth of the ,gentiles3 and all the host of ,sisera fell upon the edge of the sword2 and there was not a man left4 #jg3jjd3jag ,howbeit ,sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of ,jael the wife of ,heber the ,kenite3 for there was peace between ,jabin the king of ,hazor and the house of ,heber the ,kenite4 #jg3jjd3jah ,and ,jael went out to meet ,sisera1 and said unto him1 ,turn in1 my lord1 turn in to me2 fear not4 ,and when he had turned in unto her into the tent1 she covered him with a mantle4 #jg3jjd3jai ,and he said unto her1 ,give me1 ,i pray thee1 a little water to drink2 for ,i am thirsty4 ,and she opened a bottle of milk1 and gave him drink1 and covered him4 #jg3jjd3jbj ,again he said unto her1 ,stand in the door of the tent1 and it shall be1 when any man doth come and enquire of thee1 and say1 ,is there any man here8 that thou shalt say1 ,no4 #jg3jjd3jba ,then ,jael ,heber's wife took a nail of the tent1 and took an hammer in her hand1 and went softly unto him1 and smote the nail into his temples1 and fastened it into the ground3 for he was fast asleep and weary4 ,so he died4 #jg3jjd3jbb ,and1 behold1 as ,barak pursued ,sisera1 ,jael came out to meet him1 and said unto him1 ,come1 and ,i will shew thee the man whom thou seekest4 ,and when he came into her tent1 behold1 ,sisera lay dead1 and the nail was in his temples4 #jg3jjd3jbc ,so ,god subdued on that day ,jabin the king of ,canaan before the children of ,israel4 #jg3jjd3jbd ,and the hand of the children of ,israel prospered1 and prevailed against ,jabin the king of ,canaan1 until they had destroyed ,jabin king of ,canaan4 #jg3jje3jja ,then sang ,deborah and ,barak the son of ,abinoam on that day1 saying1 #jg3jje3jjb ,praise ye the ,,lord for the avenging of ,israel1 when the people willingly offered themselves4 #jg3jje3jjc ,hear1 ,o ye kings2 give ear1 ,o ye princes2 ,i1 even ,i1 will sing unto the ,,lord2 ,i will sing praise to the ,,lord ,god of ,israel4 #jg3jje3jjd ,,lord1 when thou wentest out of ,seir1 when thou marchedst out of the field of ,edom1 the earth trembled1 and the heavens dropped1 the clouds also dropped water4 #jg3jje3jje ,the mountains melted from before the ,,lord1 even that ,sinai from before the ,,lord ,god of ,israel4 #jg3jje3jjf ,in the days of ,shamgar the son of ,anath1 in the days of ,jael1 the highways were unoccupied1 and the travellers walked through byways4 #jg3jje3jjg ,the inhabitants of the villages ceased1 they ceased in ,israel1 until that ,i ,deborah arose1 that ,i arose a mother in ,israel4 #jg3jje3jjh ,they chose new gods2 then was war in the gates3 was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in ,israel8 #jg3jje3jji ,my heart is toward the governors of ,israel1 that offered themselves willingly among the people4 ,bless ye the ,,lord4 #jg3jje3jaj ,speak1 ye that ride on white asses1 ye that sit in judgment1 and walk by the way4 #jg3jje3jaa ,they that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water1 there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the ,,lord1 even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in ,israel3 then shall the people of the ,,lord go down to the gates4 #jg3jje3jab ,awake1 awake1 ,deborah3 awake1 awake1 utter a song3 arise1 ,barak1 and lead thy captivity captive1 thou son of ,abinoam4 #jg3jje3jac ,then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people3 the ,,lord made me have dominion over the mighty4 #jg3jje3jad ,out of ,ephraim was there a root of them against ,amalek2 after thee1 ,benjamin1 among thy people2 out of ,machir came down governors1 and out of ,zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer4 #jg3jje3jae ,and the princes of ,issachar were with ,deborah2 even ,issachar1 and also ,barak3 he was sent on foot into the valley4 ,for the divisions of ,reuben there were great thoughts of heart4 #jg3jje3jaf ,why abodest thou among the sheepfolds1 to hear the bleatings of the flocks8 ,for the divisions of ,reuben there were great searchings of heart4 #jg3jje3jag ,gilead abode beyond ,jordan3 and why did ,dan remain in ships8 ,asher continued on the sea shore1 and abode in his breaches4 #jg3jje3jah ,zebulun and ,naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field4 #jg3jje3jai ,the kings came and fought1 then fought the kings of ,canaan in ,taanach by the waters of ,megiddo2 they took no gain of money4 #jg3jje3jbj ,they fought from heaven2 the stars in their courses fought against ,sisera4 #jg3jje3jba ,the river of ,kishon swept them away1 that ancient river1 the river ,kishon4 ,o my soul1 thou hast trodden down strength4 #jg3jje3jbb ,then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings1 the pransings of their mighty ones4 #jg3jje3jbc ,curse ye ,meroz1 said the angel of the ,,lord1 curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof2 because they came not to the help of the ,,lord1 to the help of the ,,lord against the mighty4 #jg3jje3jbd ,blessed above women shall ,jael the wife of ,heber the ,kenite be1 blessed shall she be above women in the tent4 #jg3jje3jbe ,he asked water1 and she gave him milk2 she brought forth butter in a lordly dish4 #jg3jje3jbf ,she put her hand to the nail1 and her right hand to the workmen's hammer2 and with the hammer she smote ,sisera1 she smote off his head1 when she had pierced and stricken through his temples4 #jg3jje3jbg ,at her feet he bowed1 he fell1 he lay down3 at her feet he bowed1 he fell3 where he bowed1 there he fell down dead4 #jg3jje3jbh ,the mother of ,sisera looked out at a window1 and cried through the lattice1 ,why is his chariot so long in coming8 why tarry the wheels of his chariots8 #jg3jje3jbi ,her wise ladies answered her1 yea1 she returned answer to herself1 #jg3jje3jcj ,have they not sped8 have they not divided the prey2 to every man a damsel or two2 to ,sisera a prey of divers colours1 a prey of divers colours of needlework1 of divers colours of needlework on both sides1 meet for the necks of them that take the spoil8 #jg3jje3jca ,so let all thine enemies perish1 ,o ,,lord3 but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might4 ,and the land had rest forty years4 #jg3jjf3jja ,and the children of ,israel did evil in the sight of the ,,lord3 and the ,,lord delivered them into the hand of ,midian seven years4 #jg3jjf3jjb ,and the hand of ,midian prevailed against ,israel3 and because of the ,midianites the children of ,israel made them the dens which are in the mountains1 and caves1 and strong holds4 #jg3jjf3jjc ,and so it was1 when ,israel had sown1 that the ,midianites came up1 and the ,amalekites1 and the children of the east1 even they came up against them2 #jg3jjf3jjd ,and they encamped against them1 and destroyed the increase of the earth1 till thou come unto ,gaza1 and left no sustenance for ,israel1 neither sheep1 nor ox1 nor ass4 #jg3jjf3jje ,for they came up with their cattle and their tents1 and they came as grasshoppers for multitude2 for both they and their camels were without number3 and they entered into the land to destroy it4 #jg3jjf3jjf ,and ,israel was greatly impoverished because of the ,midianites2 and the children of ,israel cried unto the ,,lord4 #jg3jjf3jjg ,and it came to pass1 when the children of ,israel cried unto the ,,lord because of the ,midianites1 #jg3jjf3jjh ,that the ,,lord sent a prophet unto the children of ,israel1 which said unto them1 ,thus saith the ,,lord ,god of ,israel1 ,i brought you up from ,egypt1 and brought you forth out of the house of bondage2 #jg3jjf3jji ,and ,i delivered you out of the hand of the ,egyptians1 and out of the hand of all that oppressed you1 and drave them out from before you1 and gave you their land2 #jg3jjf3jaj ,and ,i said unto you1 ,i am the ,,lord your ,god2 fear not the gods of the ,amorites1 in whose land ye dwell3 but ye have not obeyed my voice4 #jg3jjf3jaa ,and there came an angel of the ,,lord1 and sat under an oak which was in ,ophrah1 that pertained unto ,joash the ,abiezrite3 and his son ,gideon threshed wheat by the winepress1 to hide it from the ,midianites4 #jg3jjf3jab ,and the angel of the ,,lord appeared unto him1 and said unto him1 ,the ,,lord is with thee1 thou mighty man of valour4 #jg3jjf3jac ,and ,gideon said unto him1 ,oh my ,lord1 if the ,,lord be with us1 why then is all this befallen us8 and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of1 saying1 ,did not the ,,lord bring us up from ,egypt8 but now the ,,lord hath forsaken us1 and delivered us into the hands of the ,midianites4 #jg3jjf3jad ,and the ,,lord looked upon him1 and said1 ,go in this thy might1 and thou shalt save ,israel from the hand of the ,midianites3 have not ,i sent thee8 #jg3jjf3jae ,and he said unto him1 ,oh my ,lord1 wherewith shall ,i save ,israel8 behold1 my family is poor in ,manasseh1 and ,i am the least in my father's house4 #jg3jjf3jaf ,and the ,,lord said unto him1 ,surely ,i will be with thee1 and thou shalt smite the ,midianites as one man4 #jg3jjf3jag ,and he said unto him1 ,if now ,i have found grace in thy sight1 then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me4 #jg3jjf3jah ,depart not hence1 ,i pray thee1 until ,i come unto thee1 and bring forth my present1 and set it before thee4 ,and he said1 ,i will tarry until thou come again4 #jg3jjf3jai ,and ,gideon went in1 and made ready a kid1 and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour3 the flesh he put in a basket1 and he put the broth in a pot1 and brought it out unto him under the oak1 and presented it4 #jg3jjf3jbj ,and the angel of ,god said unto him1 ,take the flesh and the unleavened cakes1 and lay them upon this rock1 and pour out the broth4 ,and he did so4 #jg3jjf3jba ,then the angel of the ,,lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand1 and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes2 and there rose up fire out of the rock1 and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes4 ,then the angel of the ,,lord departed out of his sight4 #jg3jjf3jbb ,and when ,gideon perceived that he was an angel of the ,,lord1 ,gideon said1 ,alas1 ,o ,,lord ,god6 for because ,i have seen an angel of the ,,lord face to face4 #jg3jjf3jbc ,and the ,,lord said unto him1 ,peace be unto thee2 fear not3 thou shalt not die4 #jg3jjf3jbd ,then ,gideon built an altar there unto the ,,lord1 and called it ,jehovahshalom3 unto this day it is yet in ,ophrah of the ,abiezrites4 #jg3jjf3jbe ,and it came to pass the same night1 that the ,,lord said unto him1 ,take thy father's young bullock1 even the second bullock of seven years old1 and throw down the altar of ,baal that thy father hath1 and cut down the grove that is by it3 #jg3jjf3jbf ,and build an altar unto the ,,lord thy ,god upon the top of this rock1 in the ordered place1 and take the second bullock1 and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down4 #jg3jjf3jbg ,then ,gideon took ten men of his servants1 and did as the ,,lord had said unto him3 and so it was1 because he feared his father's household1 and the men of the city1 that he could not do it by day1 that he did it by night4 #jg3jjf3jbh ,and when the men of the city arose early in the morning1 behold1 the altar of ,baal was cast down1 and the grove was cut down that was by it1 and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built4 #jg3jjf3jbi ,and they said one to another1 ,who hath done this thing8 ,and when they enquired and asked1 they said1 ,gideon the son of ,joash hath done this thing4 #jg3jjf3jcj ,then the men of the city said unto ,joash1 ,bring out thy son1 that he may die3 because he hath cast down the altar of ,baal1 and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it4 #jg3jjf3jca ,and ,joash said unto all that stood against him1 ,will ye plead for ,baal8 will ye save him8 he that will plead for him1 let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning3 if he be a god1 let him plead for himself1 because one hath cast down his altar4 #jg3jjf3jcb ,therefore on that day he called him ,jerubbaal1 saying1 ,let ,baal plead against him1 because he hath thrown down his altar4 #jg3jjf3jcc ,then all the ,midianites and the ,amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together1 and went over1 and pitched in the valley of ,jezreel4 #jg3jjf3jcd ,but the ,spirit of the ,,lord came upon ,gideon1 and he blew a trumpet2 and ,abiezer was gathered after him4 #jg3jjf3jce ,and he sent messengers throughout all ,manasseh2 who also was gathered after him3 and he sent messengers unto ,asher1 and unto ,zebulun1 and unto ,naphtali2 and they came up to meet them4 #jg3jjf3jcf ,and ,gideon said unto ,god1 ,if thou wilt save ,israel by mine hand1 as thou hast said1 #jg3jjf3jcg ,behold1 ,i will put a fleece of wool in the floor2 and if the dew be on the fleece only1 and it be dry upon all the earth beside1 then shall ,i know that thou wilt save ,israel by mine hand1 as thou hast said4 #jg3jjf3jch ,and it was so3 for he rose up early on the morrow1 and thrust the fleece together1 and wringed the dew out of the fleece1 a bowl full of water4 #jg3jjf3jci ,and ,gideon said unto ,god1 ,let not thine anger be hot against me1 and ,i will speak but this once3 let me prove1 ,i pray thee1 but this once with the fleece2 let it now be dry only upon the fleece1 and upon all the ground let there be dew4 #jg3jjf3jdj ,and ,god did so that night3 for it was dry upon the fleece only1 and there was dew on all the ground4 #jg3jjg3jja ,then ,jerubbaal1 who is ,gideon1 and all the people that were with him1 rose up early1 and pitched beside the well of ,harod3 so that the host of the ,midianites were on the north side of them1 by the hill of ,moreh1 in the valley4 #jg3jjg3jjb ,and the ,,lord said unto ,gideon1 ,the people that are with thee are too many for me to give the ,midianites into their hands1 lest ,israel vaunt themselves against me1 saying1 ,mine own hand hath saved me4 #jg3jjg3jjc ,now therefore go to1 proclaim in the ears of the people1 saying1 ,whosoever is fearful and afraid1 let him return and depart early from mount ,gilead4 ,and there returned of the people twenty and two thousand2 and there remained ten thousand4 #jg3jjg3jjd ,and the ,,lord said unto ,gideon1 ,the people are yet too many2 bring them down unto the water1 and ,i will try them for thee there3 and it shall be1 that of whom ,i say unto thee1 ,this shall go with thee1 the same shall go with thee2 and of whomsoever ,i say unto thee1 ,this shall not go with thee1 the same shall not go4 #jg3jjg3jje ,so he brought down the people unto the water3 and the ,,lord said unto ,gideon1 ,every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue1 as a dog lappeth1 him shalt thou set by himself2 likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink4 #jg3jjg3jjf ,and the number of them that lapped1 putting their hand to their mouth1 were three hundred men3 but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water4 #jg3jjg3jjg ,and the ,,lord said unto ,gideon1 ,by the three hundred men that lapped will ,i save you1 and deliver the ,midianites into thine hand3 and let all the other people go every man unto his place4 #jg3jjg3jjh ,so the people took victuals in their hand1 and their trumpets3 and he sent all the rest of ,israel every man unto his tent1 and retained those three hundred men3 and the host of ,midian was beneath him in the valley4 #jg3jjg3jji ,and it came to pass the same night1 that the ,,lord said unto him1 ,arise1 get thee down unto the host2 for ,i have delivered it into thine hand4 #jg3jjg3jaj ,but if thou fear to go down1 go thou with ,phurah thy servant down to the host3 #jg3jjg3jaa ,and thou shalt hear what they say2 and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host4 ,then went he down with ,phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host4 #jg3jjg3jab ,and the ,midianites and the ,amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude2 and their camels were without number1 as the sand by the sea side for multitude4 #jg3jjg3jac ,and when ,gideon was come1 behold1 there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow1 and said1 ,behold1 ,i dreamed a dream1 and1 lo1 a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of ,midian1 and came unto a tent1 and smote it that it fell1 and overturned it1 that the tent lay along4 #jg3jjg3jad ,and his fellow answered and said1 ,this is nothing else save the sword of ,gideon the son of ,joash1 a man of ,israel3 for into his hand hath ,god delivered ,midian1 and all the host4 #jg3jjg3jae ,and it was so1 when ,gideon heard the telling of the dream1 and the interpretation thereof1 that he worshipped1 and returned into the host of ,israel1 and said1 ,arise2 for the ,,lord hath delivered into your hand the host of ,midian4 #jg3jjg3jaf ,and he divided the three hundred men into three companies1 and he put a trumpet in every man's hand1 with empty pitchers1 and lamps within the pitchers4 #jg3jjg3jag ,and he said unto them1 ,look on me1 and do likewise3 and1 behold1 when ,i come to the outside of the camp1 it shall be that1 as ,i do1 so shall ye do4 #jg3jjg3jah ,when ,i blow with a trumpet1 ,i and all that are with me1 then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp1 and say1 ,the sword of the ,,lord1 and of ,gideon4 #jg3jjg3jai ,so ,gideon1 and the hundred men that were with him1 came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch2 and they had but newly set the watch3 and they blew the trumpets1 and brake the pitchers that were in their hands4 #jg3jjg3jbj ,and the three companies blew the trumpets1 and brake the pitchers1 and held the lamps in their left hands1 and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal3 and they cried1 ,the sword of the ,,lord1 and of ,gideon4 #jg3jjg3jba ,and they stood every man in his place round about the camp2 and all the host ran1 and cried1 and fled4 #jg3jjg3jbb ,and the three hundred blew the trumpets1 and the ,,lord set every man's sword against his fellow1 even throughout all the host3 and the host fled to ,bethshittah in ,zererath1 and to the border of ,abelmeholah1 unto ,tabbath4 #jg3jjg3jbc ,and the men of ,israel gathered themselves together out of ,naphtali1 and out of ,asher1 and out of all ,manasseh1 and pursued after the ,midianites4 #jg3jjg3jbd ,and ,gideon sent messengers throughout all mount ,ephraim1 saying1 come down against the ,midianites1 and take before them the waters unto ,bethbarah and ,jordan4 ,then all the men of ,ephraim gathered themselves together1 and took the waters unto ,bethbarah and ,jordan4 #jg3jjg3jbe ,and they took two princes of the ,midianites1 ,oreb and ,zeeb2 and they slew ,oreb upon the rock ,oreb1 and ,zeeb they slew at the winepress of ,zeeb1 and pursued ,midian1 and brought the heads of ,oreb and ,zeeb to ,gideon on the other side ,jordan4 #jg3jjh3jja ,and the men of ,ephraim said unto him1 ,why hast thou served us thus1 that thou calledst us not1 when thou wentest to fight with the ,midianites8 ,and they did chide with him sharply4 #jg3jjh3jjb ,and he said unto them1 ,what have ,i done now in comparison of you8 ,is not the gleaning of the grapes of ,ephraim better than the vintage of ,abiezer8 #jg3jjh3jjc ,god hath delivered into your hands the princes of ,midian1 ,oreb and ,zeeb3 and what was ,i able to do in comparison of you8 ,then their anger was abated toward him1 when he had said that4 #jg3jjh3jjd ,and ,gideon came to ,jordan1 and passed over1 he1 and the three hundred men that were with him1 faint1 yet pursuing them4 #jg3jjh3jje ,and he said unto the men of ,succoth1 ,give1 ,i pray you1 loaves of bread unto the people that follow me2 for they be faint1 and ,i am pursuing after ,zebah and ,zalmunna1 kings of ,midian4 #jg3jjh3jjf ,and the princes of ,succoth said1 ,are the hands of ,zebah and ,zalmunna now in thine hand1 that we should give bread unto thine army8 #jg3jjh3jjg ,and ,gideon said1 ,therefore when the ,,lord hath delivered ,zebah and ,zalmunna into mine hand1 then ,i will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers4 #jg3jjh3jjh ,and he went up thence to ,penuel1 and spake unto them likewise3 and the men of ,penuel answered him as the men of ,succoth had answered him4 #jg3jjh3jji ,and he spake also unto the men of ,penuel1 saying1 ,when ,i come again in peace1 ,i will break down this tower4 #jg3jjh3jaj ,now ,zebah and ,zalmunna were in ,karkor1 and their hosts with them1 about fifteen thousand men1 all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east3 for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword4 #jg3jjh3jaa ,and ,gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of ,nobah and ,jogbehah1 and smote the host2 for the host was secure4 #jg3jjh3jab ,and when ,zebah and ,zalmunna fled1 he pursued after them1 and took the two kings of ,midian1 ,zebah and ,zalmunna1 and discomfited all the host4 #jg3jjh3jac ,and ,gideon the son of ,joash returned from battle before the sun was up1 #jg3jjh3jad ,and caught a young man of the men of ,succoth1 and enquired of him3 and he described unto him the princes of ,succoth1 and the elders thereof1 even threescore and seventeen men4 #jg3jjh3jae ,and he came unto the men of ,succoth1 and said1 ,behold ,zebah and ,zalmunna1 with whom ye did upbraid me1 saying1 ,are the hands of ,zebah and ,zalmunna now in thine hand1 that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary8 #jg3jjh3jaf ,and he took the elders of the city1 and thorns of the wilderness and briers1 and with them he taught the men of ,succoth4 #jg3jjh3jag ,and he beat down the tower of ,penuel1 and slew the men of the city4 #jg3jjh3jah ,then said he unto ,zebah and ,zalmunna1 ,what manner of men were they whom ye slew at ,tabor8 ,and they answered1 ,as thou art1 so were they2 each one resembled the children of a king4 #jg3jjh3jai ,and he said1 ,they were my brethren1 even the sons of my mother3 as the ,,lord liveth1 if ye had saved them alive1 ,i would not slay you4 #jg3jjh3jbj ,and he said unto ,jether his firstborn1 ,up1 and slay them4 ,but the youth drew not his sword3 for he feared1 because he was yet a youth4 #jg3jjh3jba ,then ,zebah and ,zalmunna said1 ,rise thou1 and fall upon us3 for as the man is1 so is his strength4 ,and ,gideon arose1 and slew ,zebah and ,zalmunna1 and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks4 #jg3jjh3jbb ,then the men of ,israel said unto ,gideon1 ,rule thou over us1 both thou1 and thy son1 and thy son's son also3 for thou hast delivered us from the hand of ,midian4 #jg3jjh3jbc ,and ,gideon said unto them1 ,i will not rule over you1 neither shall my son rule over you3 the ,,lord shall rule over you4 #jg3jjh3jbd ,and ,gideon said unto them1 ,i would desire a request of you1 that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey4 7,for they had golden earrings1 because they were ,ishmaelites47 #jg3jjh3jbe ,and they answered1 ,we will willingly give them4 ,and they spread a garment1 and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey4 #jg3jjh3jbf ,and the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold2 beside ornaments1 and collars1 and purple raiment that was on the kings of ,midian1 and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks4 #jg3jjh3jbg ,and ,gideon made an ephod thereof1 and put it in his city1 even in ,ophrah3 and all ,israel went thither a whoring after it3 which thing became a snare unto ,gideon1 and to his house4 #jg3jjh3jbh ,thus was ,midian subdued before the children of ,israel1 so that they lifted up their heads no more4 ,and the country was in quietness forty years in the days of ,gideon4 #jg3jjh3jbi ,and ,jerubbaal the son of ,joash went and dwelt in his own house4 #jg3jjh3jcj ,and ,gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten3 for he had many wives4 #jg3jjh3jca ,and his concubine that was in ,shechem1 she also bare him a son1 whose name he called ,abimelech4 #jg3jjh3jcb ,and ,gideon the son of ,joash died in a good old age1 and was buried in the sepulchre of ,joash his father1 in ,ophrah of the ,abiezrites4 #jg3jjh3jcc ,and it came to pass1 as soon as ,gideon was dead1 that the children of ,israel turned again1 and went a whoring after ,baalim1 and made ,baalberith their god4 #jg3jjh3jcd ,and the children of ,israel remembered not the ,,lord their ,god1 who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side3 #jg3jjh3jce ,neither shewed they kindness to the house of ,jerubbaal1 namely1 ,gideon1 according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto ,israel4 #jg3jji3jja ,and ,abimelech the son of ,jerubbaal went to ,shechem unto his mother's brethren1 and communed with them1 and with all the family of the house of his mother's father1 saying1 #jg3jji3jjb ,speak1 ,i pray you1 in the ears of all the men of ,shechem1 ,whether is better for you1 either that all the sons of ,jerubbaal1 which are threescore and ten persons1 reign over you1 or that one reign over you8 remember also that ,i am your bone and your flesh4 #jg3jji3jjc ,and his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of ,shechem all these words3 and their hearts inclined to follow ,abimelech2 for they said1 ,he is our brother4 #jg3jji3jjd ,and they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of ,baalberith1 wherewith ,abimelech hired vain and light persons1 which followed him4 #jg3jji3jje ,and he went unto his father's house at ,ophrah1 and slew his brethren the sons of ,jerubbaal1 being threescore and ten persons1 upon one stone3 notwithstanding yet ,jotham the youngest son of ,jerubbaal was left2 for he hid himself4 #jg3jji3jjf ,and all the men of ,shechem gathered together1 and all the house of ,millo1 and went1 and made ,abimelech king1 by the plain of the pillar that was in ,shechem4 #jg3jji3jjg ,and when they told it to ,jotham1 he went and stood in the top of mount ,gerizim1 and lifted up his voice1 and cried1 and said unto them1 ,hearken unto me1 ye men of ,shechem1 that ,god may hearken unto you4 #jg3jji3jjh ,the trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them2 and they said unto the olive tree1 ,reign thou over us4 #jg3jji3jji ,but the olive tree said unto them1 ,should ,i leave my fatness1 wherewith by me they honour ,god and man1 and go to be promoted over the trees8 #jg3jji3jaj ,and the trees said to the fig tree1 ,come thou1 and reign over us4 #jg3jji3jaa ,but the fig tree said unto them1 ,should ,i forsake my sweetness1 and my good fruit1 and go to be promoted over the trees8 #jg3jji3jab ,then said the trees unto the vine1 ,come thou1 and reign over us4 #jg3jji3jac ,and the vine said unto them1 ,should ,i leave my wine1 which cheereth ,god and man1 and go to be promoted over the trees8 #jg3jji3jad ,then said all the trees unto the bramble1 ,come thou1 and reign over us4 #jg3jji3jae ,and the bramble said unto the trees1 ,if in truth ye anoint me king over you1 then come and put your trust in my shadow3 and if not1 let fire come out of the bramble1 and devour the cedars of ,lebanon4 #jg3jji3jaf ,now therefore1 if ye have done truly and sincerely1 in that ye have made ,abimelech king1 and if ye have dealt well with ,jerubbaal and his house1 and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands2 #jg3jji3jag 7,for my father fought for you1 and adventured his life far1 and delivered you out of the hand of ,midian3 #jg3jji3jah ,and ye are risen up against my father's house this day1 and have slain his sons1 threescore and ten persons1 upon one stone1 and have made ,abimelech1 the son of his maidservant1 king over the men of ,shechem1 because he is your brother27 #jg3jji3jai ,if ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with ,jerubbaal and with his house this day1 then rejoice ye in ,abimelech1 and let him also rejoice in you3 #jg3jji3jbj ,but if not1 let fire come out from ,abimelech1 and devour the men of ,shechem1 and the house of ,millo2 and let fire come out from the men of ,shechem1 and from the house of ,millo1 and devour ,abimelech4 #jg3jji3jba ,and ,jotham ran away1 and fled1 and went to ,beer1 and dwelt there1 for fear of ,abimelech his brother4 #jg3jji3jbb ,when ,abimelech had reigned three years over ,israel1 #jg3jji3jbc ,then ,god sent an evil spirit between ,abimelech and the men of ,shechem2 and the men of ,shechem dealt treacherously with ,abimelech3 #jg3jji3jbd ,that the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of ,jerubbaal might come1 and their blood be laid upon ,abimelech their brother1 which slew them2 and upon the men of ,shechem1 which aided him in the killing of his brethren4 #jg3jji3jbe ,and the men of ,shechem set liers in wait for him in the top of the mountains1 and they robbed all that came along that way by them3 and it was told ,abimelech4 #jg3jji3jbf ,and ,gaal the son of ,ebed came with his brethren1 and went over to ,shechem3 and the men of ,shechem put their confidence in him4 #jg3jji3jbg ,and they went out into the fields1 and gathered their vineyards1 and trode the grapes1 and made merry1 and went into the house of their god1 and did eat and drink1 and cursed ,abimelech4 #jg3jji3jbh ,and ,gaal the son of ,ebed said1 ,who is ,abimelech1 and who is ,shechem1 that we should serve him8 is not he the son of ,jerubbaal8 and ,zebul his officer8 serve the men of ,hamor the father of ,shechem3 for why should we serve him8 #jg3jji3jbi ,and would to ,god this people were under my hand6 then would ,i remove ,abimelech4 ,and he said to ,abimelech1 ,increase thine army1 and come out4 #jg3jji3jcj ,and when ,zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of ,gaal the son of ,ebed1 his anger was kindled4 #jg3jji3jca ,and he sent messengers unto ,abimelech privily1 saying1 ,behold1 ,gaal the son of ,ebed and his brethren be come to ,shechem2 and1 behold1 they fortify the city against thee4 #jg3jji3jcb ,now therefore up by night1 thou and the people that is with thee1 and lie in wait in the field3 #jg3jji3jcc ,and it shall be1 that in the morning1 as soon as the sun is up1 thou shalt rise early1 and set upon the city3 and1 behold1 when he and the people that is with him come out against thee1 then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion4 #jg3jji3jcd ,and ,abimelech rose up1 and all the people that were with him1 by night1 and they laid wait against ,shechem in four companies4 #jg3jji3jce ,and ,gaal the son of ,ebed went out1 and stood in the entering of the gate of the city3 and ,abimelech rose up1 and the people that were with him1 from lying in wait4 #jg3jji3jcf ,and when ,gaal saw the people1 he said to ,zebul1 ,behold1 there come people down from the top of the mountains4 ,and ,zebul said unto him1 ,thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men4 #jg3jji3jcg ,and ,gaal spake again1 and said1 ,see there come people down by the middle of the land1 and another company come along by the plain of ,meonenim4 #jg3jji3jch ,then said ,zebul unto him1 ,where is now thy mouth1 wherewith thou saidst1 ,who is ,abimelech1 that we should serve him8 is not this the people that thou hast despised8 go out1 ,i pray now1 and fight with them4 #jg3jji3jci ,and ,gaal went out before the men of ,shechem1 and fought with ,abimelech4 #jg3jji3jdj ,and ,abimelech chased him1 and he fled before him1 and many were overthrown and wounded1 even unto the entering of the gate4 #jg3jji3jda ,and ,abimelech dwelt at ,arumah3 and ,zebul thrust out ,gaal and his brethren1 that they should not dwell in ,shechem4 #jg3jji3jdb ,and it came to pass on the morrow1 that the people went out into the field2 and they told ,abimelech4 #jg3jji3jdc ,and he took the people1 and divided them into three companies1 and laid wait in the field1 and looked1 and1 behold1 the people were come forth out of the city2 and he rose up against them1 and smote them4 #jg3jji3jdd ,and ,abimelech1 and the company that was with him1 rushed forward1 and stood in the entering of the gate of the city3 and the two other companies ran upon all the people that were in the fields1 and slew them4 #jg3jji3jde ,and ,abimelech fought against the city all that day2 and he took the city1 and slew the people that was therein1 and beat down the city1 and sowed it with salt4 #jg3jji3jdf ,and when all the men of the tower of ,shechem heard that1 they entered into an hold of the house of the god ,berith4 #jg3jji3jdg ,and it was told ,abimelech1 that all the men of the tower of ,shechem were gathered together4 #jg3jji3jdh ,and ,abimelech gat him up to mount ,zalmon1 he and all the people that were with him2 and ,abimelech took an axe in his hand1 and cut down a bough from the trees1 and took it1 and laid it on his shoulder1 and said unto the people that were with him1 ,what ye have seen me do1 make haste1 and do as ,i have done4 #jg3jji3jdi ,and all the people likewise cut down every man his bough1 and followed ,abimelech1 and put them to the hold1 and set the hold on fire upon them2 so that all the men of the tower of ,shechem died also1 about a thousand men and women4 #jg3jji3jej ,then went ,abimelech to ,thebez1 and encamped against ,thebez1 and took it4 #jg3jji3jea ,but there was a strong tower within the city1 and thither fled all the men and women1 and all they of the city1 and shut it to them1 and gat them up to the top of the tower4 #jg3jji3jeb ,and ,abimelech came unto the tower1 and fought against it1 and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire4 #jg3jji3jec ,and a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon ,abimelech's head1 and all to brake his skull4 #jg3jji3jed ,then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer1 and said unto him1 ,draw thy sword1 and slay me1 that men say not of me1 ,a women slew him4 ,and his young man thrust him through1 and he died4 #jg3jji3jee ,and when the men of ,israel saw that ,abimelech was dead1 they departed every man unto his place4 #jg3jji3jef ,thus ,god rendered the wickedness of ,abimelech1 which he did unto his father1 in slaying his seventy brethren3 #jg3jji3jeg ,and all the evil of the men of ,shechem did ,god render upon their heads3 and upon them came the curse of ,jotham the son of ,jerubbaal4 #jg3jaj3jja ,and after ,abimelech there arose to defend ,israel ,tola the son of ,puah1 the son of ,dodo1 a man of ,issachar2 and he dwelt in ,shamir in mount ,ephraim4 #jg3jaj3jjb ,and he judged ,israel twenty and three years1 and died1 and was buried in ,shamir4 #jg3jaj3jjc ,and after him arose ,jair1 a ,gileadite1 and judged ,israel twenty and two years4 #jg3jaj3jjd ,and he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts1 and they had thirty cities1 which are called ,havothjair unto this day1 which are in the land of ,gilead4 #jg3jaj3jje ,and ,jair died1 and was buried in ,camon4 #jg3jaj3jjf ,and the children of ,israel did evil again in the sight of the ,,lord1 and served ,baalim1 and ,ashtaroth1 and the gods of ,syria1 and the gods of ,zidon1 and the gods of ,moab1 and the gods of the children of ,ammon1 and the gods of the ,philistines1 and forsook the ,,lord1 and served not him4 #jg3jaj3jjg ,and the anger of the ,,lord was hot against ,israel1 and he sold them into the hands of the ,philistines1 and into the hands of the children of ,ammon4 #jg3jaj3jjh ,and that year they vexed and oppressed the children of ,israel3 eighteen years1 all the children of ,israel that were on the other side ,jordan in the land of the ,amorites1 which is in ,gilead4 #jg3jaj3jji ,moreover the children of ,ammon passed over ,jordan to fight also against ,judah1 and against ,benjamin1 and against the house of ,ephraim2 so that ,israel was sore distressed4 #jg3jaj3jaj ,and the children of ,israel cried unto the ,,lord1 saying1 ,we have sinned against thee1 both because we have forsaken our ,god1 and also served ,baalim4 #jg3jaj3jaa ,and the ,,lord said unto the children of ,israel1 ,did not ,i deliver you from the ,egyptians1 and from the ,amorites1 from the children of ,ammon1 and from the ,philistines8 #jg3jaj3jab ,the ,zidonians also1 and the ,amalekites1 and the ,maonites1 did oppress you2 and ye cried to me1 and ,i delivered you out of their hand4 #jg3jaj3jac ,yet ye have forsaken me1 and served other gods3 wherefore ,i will deliver you no more4 #jg3jaj3jad ,go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen2 let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation4 #jg3jaj3jae ,and the children of ,israel said unto the ,,lord1 ,we have sinned3 do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee2 deliver us only1 we pray thee1 this day4 #jg3jaj3jaf ,and they put away the strange gods from among them1 and served the ,,lord3 and his soul was grieved for the misery of ,israel4 #jg3jaj3jag ,then the children of ,ammon were gathered together1 and encamped in ,gilead4 ,and the children of ,israel assembled themselves together1 and encamped in ,mizpeh4 #jg3jaj3jah ,and the people and princes of ,gilead said one to another1 ,what man is he that will begin to fight against the children of ,ammon8 he shall be head over all the inhabitants of ,gilead4 #jg3jaa3jja ,now ,jephthah the ,gileadite was a mighty man of valour1 and he was the son of an harlot3 and ,gilead begat ,jephthah4 #jg3jaa3jjb ,and ,gilead's wife bare him sons2 and his wife's sons grew up1 and they thrust out ,jephthah1 and said unto him1 ,thou shalt not inherit in our father's house2 for thou art the son of a strange woman4 #jg3jaa3jjc ,then ,jephthah fled from his brethren1 and dwelt in the land of ,tob3 and there were gathered vain men to ,jephthah1 and went out with him4 #jg3jaa3jjd ,and it came to pass in process of time1 that the children of ,ammon made war against ,israel4 #jg3jaa3jje ,and it was so1 that when the children of ,ammon made war against ,israel1 the elders of ,gilead went to fetch ,jephthah out of the land of ,tob3 #jg3jaa3jjf ,and they said unto ,jephthah1 ,come1 and be our captain1 that we may fight with the children of ,ammon4 #jg3jaa3jjg ,and ,jephthah said unto the elders of ,gilead1 ,did not ye hate me1 and expel me out of my father's house8 and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress8 #jg3jaa3jjh ,and the elders of ,gilead said unto ,jephthah1 ,therefore we turn again to thee now1 that thou mayest go with us1 and fight against the children of ,ammon1 and be our head over all the inhabitants of ,gilead4 #jg3jaa3jji ,and ,jephthah said unto the elders of ,gilead1 ,if ye bring me home again to fight against the children of ,ammon1 and the ,,lord deliver them before me1 shall ,i be your head8 #jg3jaa3jaj ,and the elders of ,gilead said unto ,jephthah1 ,the ,,lord be witness between us1 if we do not so according to thy words4 #jg3jaa3jaa ,then ,jephthah went with the elders of ,gilead1 and the people made him head and captain over them3 and ,jephthah uttered all his words before the ,,lord in ,mizpeh4 #jg3jaa3jab ,and ,jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of ,ammon1 saying1 ,what hast thou to do with me1 that thou art come against me to fight in my land8 #jg3jaa3jac ,and the king of the children of ,ammon answered unto the messengers of ,jephthah1 ,because ,israel took away my land1 when they came up out of ,egypt1 from ,arnon even unto ,jabbok1 and unto ,jordan3 now therefore restore those lands again peaceably4 #jg3jaa3jad ,and ,jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of ,ammon3 #jg3jaa3jae ,and said unto him1 ,thus saith ,jephthah1 ,israel took not away the land of ,moab1 nor the land of the children of ,ammon3 #jg3jaa3jaf ,but when ,israel came up from ,egypt1 and walked through the wilderness unto the ,red sea1 and came to ,kadesh2 #jg3jaa3jag ,then ,israel sent messengers unto the king of ,edom1 saying1 ,let me1 ,i pray thee1 pass through thy land3 but the king of ,edom would not hearken thereto4 ,and in like manner they sent unto the king of ,moab3 but he would not consent3 and ,israel abode in ,kadesh4 #jg3jaa3jah ,then they went along through the wilderness1 and compassed the land of ,edom1 and the land of ,moab1 and came by the east side of the land of ,moab1 and pitched on the other side of ,arnon1 but came not within the border of ,moab3 for ,arnon was the border of ,moab4 #jg3jaa3jai ,and ,israel sent messengers unto ,sihon king of the ,amorites1 the king of ,heshbon2 and ,israel said unto him1 ,let us pass1 we pray thee1 through thy land into my place4 #jg3jaa3jbj ,but ,sihon trusted not ,israel to pass through his coast3 but ,sihon gathered all his people together1 and pitched in ,jahaz1 and fought against ,israel4 #jg3jaa3jba ,and the ,,lord ,god of ,israel delivered ,sihon and all his people into the hand of ,israel1 and they smote them3 so ,israel possessed all the land of the ,amorites1 the inhabitants of that country4 #jg3jaa3jbb ,and they possessed all the coasts of the ,amorites1 from ,arnon even unto ,jabbok1 and from the wilderness even unto ,jordan4 #jg3jaa3jbc ,so now the ,,lord ,god of ,israel hath dispossessed the ,amorites from before his people ,israel1 and shouldest thou possess it8 #jg3jaa3jbd ,wilt not thou possess that which ,chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess8 ,so whomsoever the ,,lord our ,god shall drive out from before us1 them will we possess4 #jg3jaa3jbe ,and now art thou any thing better than ,balak the son of ,zippor1 king of ,moab8 did he ever strive against ,israel1 or did he ever fight against them1 #jg3jaa3jbf ,while ,israel dwelt in ,heshbon and her towns1 and in ,aroer and her towns1 and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of ,arnon1 three hundred years8 why therefore did ye not recover them within that time8 #jg3jaa3jbg ,wherefore ,i have not sinned against thee1 but thou doest me wrong to war against me3 the ,,lord the ,judge be judge this day between the children of ,israel and the children of ,ammon4 #jg3jaa3jbh ,howbeit the king of the children of ,ammon hearkened not unto the words of ,jephthah which he sent him4 #jg3jaa3jbi ,then the ,spirit of the ,,lord came upon ,jephthah1 and he passed over ,gilead1 and ,manasseh1 and passed over ,mizpeh of ,gilead1 and from ,mizpeh of ,gilead he passed over unto the children of ,ammon4 #jg3jaa3jcj ,and ,jephthah vowed a vow unto the ,,lord1 and said1 ,if thou shalt without fail deliver the children of ,ammon into mine hands1 #jg3jaa3jca ,then it shall be1 that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me1 when ,i return in peace from the children of ,ammon1 shall surely be the ,,lord's1 and ,i will offer it up for a burnt offering4 #jg3jaa3jcb ,so ,jephthah passed over unto the children of ,ammon to fight against them2 and the ,,lord delivered them into his hands4 #jg3jaa3jcc ,and he smote them from ,aroer1 even till thou come to ,minnith1 even twenty cities1 and unto the plain of the vineyards1 with a very great slaughter4 ,thus the children of ,ammon were subdued before the children of ,israel4 #jg3jaa3jcd ,and ,jephthah came to ,mizpeh unto his house1 and1 behold1 his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances3 and she was his only child2 beside her he had neither son nor daughter4 #jg3jaa3jce ,and it came to pass1 when he saw her1 that he rent his clothes1 and said1 ,alas1 my daughter6 thou hast brought me very low1 and thou art one of them that trouble me3 for ,i have opened my mouth unto the ,,lord1 and ,i cannot go back4 #jg3jaa3jcf ,and she said unto him1 ,my father1 if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the ,,lord1 do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth2 forasmuch as the ,,lord hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies1 even of the children of ,ammon4 #jg3jaa3jcg ,and she said unto her father1 ,let this thing be done for me3 let me alone two months1 that ,i may go up and down upon the mountains1 and bewail my virginity1 ,i and my fellows4 #jg3jaa3jch ,and he said1 ,go4 ,and he sent her away for two months3 and she went with her companions1 and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains4 #jg3jaa3jci ,and it came to pass at the end of two months1 that she returned unto her father1 who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed3 and she knew no man4 ,and it was a custom in ,israel1 #jg3jaa3jdj ,that the daughters of ,israel went yearly to lament the daughter of ,jephthah the ,gileadite four days in a year4 #jg3jab3jja ,and the men of ,ephraim gathered themselves together1 and went northward1 and said unto ,jephthah1 ,wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of ,ammon1 and didst not call us to go with thee8 we will burn thine house upon thee with fire4 #jg3jab3jjb ,and ,jephthah said unto them1 ,i and my people were at great strife with the children of ,ammon2 and when ,i called you1 ye delivered me not out of their hands4 #jg3jab3jjc ,and when ,i saw that ye delivered me not1 ,i put my life in my hands1 and passed over against the children of ,ammon1 and the ,,lord delivered them into my hand3 wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day1 to fight against me8 #jg3jab3jjd ,then ,jephthah gathered together all the men of ,gilead1 and fought with ,ephraim3 and the men of ,gilead smote ,ephraim1 because they said1 ,ye ,gileadites are fugitives of ,ephraim among the ,ephraimites1 and among the ,manassites4 #jg3jab3jje ,and the ,gileadites took the passages of ,jordan before the ,ephraimites3 and it was so1 that when those ,ephraimites which were escaped said1 ,let me go over2 that the men of ,gilead said unto him1 ,art thou an ,ephraimite8 ,if he said1 ,nay2 #jg3jab3jjf ,then said they unto him1 ,say now ,shibboleth3 and he said ,sibboleth3 for he could not frame to pronounce it right4 ,then they took him1 and slew him at the passages of ,jordan3 and there fell at that time of the ,ephraimites forty and two thousand4 #jg3jab3jjg ,and ,jephthah judged ,israel six years4 ,then died ,jephthah the ,gileadite1 and was buried in one of the cities of ,gilead4 #jg3jab3jjh ,and after him ,ibzan of ,bethlehem judged ,israel4 #jg3jab3jji ,and he had thirty sons1 and thirty daughters1 whom he sent abroad1 and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons4 ,and he judged ,israel seven years4 #jg3jab3jaj ,then died ,ibzan1 and was buried at ,bethlehem4 #jg3jab3jaa ,and after him ,elon1 a ,zebulonite1 judged ,israel2 and he judged ,israel ten years4 #jg3jab3jab ,and ,elon the ,zebulonite died1 and was buried in ,aijalon in the country of ,zebulun4 #jg3jab3jac ,and after him ,abdon the son of ,hillel1 a ,pirathonite1 judged ,israel4 #jg3jab3jad ,and he had forty sons and thirty nephews1 that rode on threescore and ten ass colts3 and he judged ,israel eight years4 #jg3jab3jae ,and ,abdon the son of ,hillel the ,pirathonite died1 and was buried in ,pirathon in the land of ,ephraim1 in the mount of the ,amalekites4 #jg3jac3jja ,and the children of ,israel did evil again in the sight of the ,,lord2 and the ,,lord delivered them into the hand of the ,philistines forty years4 #jg3jac3jjb ,and there was a certain man of ,zorah1 of the family of the ,danites1 whose name was ,manoah2 and his wife was barren1 and bare not4 #jg3jac3jjc ,and the angel of the ,,lord appeared unto the woman1 and said unto her1 ,behold now1 thou art barren1 and bearest not3 but thou shalt conceive1 and bear a son4 #jg3jac3jjd ,now therefore beware1 ,i pray thee1 and drink not wine nor strong drink1 and eat not any unclean thing3 #jg3jac3jje ,for1 lo1 thou shalt conceive1 and bear a son2 and no razor shall come on his head3 for the child shall be a ,nazarite unto ,god from the womb3 and he shall begin to deliver ,israel out of the hand of the ,philistines4 #jg3jac3jjf ,then the woman came and told her husband1 saying1 ,a man of ,god came unto me1 and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of ,god1 very terrible3 but ,i asked him not whence he was1 neither told he me his name3 #jg3jac3jjg ,but he said unto me1 ,behold1 thou shalt conceive1 and bear a son2 and now drink no wine nor strong drink1 neither eat any unclean thing3 for the child shall be a ,nazarite to ,god from the womb to the day of his death4 #jg3jac3jjh ,then ,manoah intreated the ,,lord1 and said1 ,o my ,lord1 let the man of ,god which thou didst send come again unto us1 and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born4 #jg3jac3jji ,and ,god hearkened to the voice of ,manoah2 and the angel of ,god came again unto the woman as she sat in the field3 but ,manoah her husband was not with her4 #jg3jac3jaj ,and the woman made haste1 and ran1 and shewed her husband1 and said unto him1 ,behold1 the man hath appeared unto me1 that came unto me the other day4 #jg3jac3jaa ,and ,manoah arose1 and went after his wife1 and came to the man1 and said unto him1 ,art thou the man that spakest unto the woman8 ,and he said1 ,i am4 #jg3jac3jab ,and ,manoah said1 ,now let thy words come to pass4 ,how shall we order the child1 and how shall we do unto him8 #jg3jac3jac ,and the angel of the ,,lord said unto ,manoah1 ,of all that ,i said unto the woman let her beware4 #jg3jac3jad ,she may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine1 neither let her drink wine or strong drink1 nor eat any unclean thing3 all that ,i commanded her let her observe4 #jg3jac3jae ,and ,manoah said unto the angel of the ,,lord1 ,i pray thee1 let us detain thee1 until we shall have made ready a kid for thee4 #jg3jac3jaf ,and the angel of the ,,lord said unto ,manoah1 ,though thou detain me1 ,i will not eat of thy bread3 and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering1 thou must offer it unto the ,,lord4 ,for ,manoah knew not that he was an angel of the ,,lord4 #jg3jac3jag ,and ,manoah said unto the angel of the ,,lord1 ,what is thy name1 that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour8 #jg3jac3jah ,and the angel of the ,,lord said unto him1 ,why askest thou thus after my name1 seeing it is secret8 #jg3jac3jai ,so ,manoah took a kid with a meat offering1 and offered it upon a rock unto the ,,lord3 and the angel did wonderously2 and ,manoah and his wife looked on4 #jg3jac3jbj ,for it came to pass1 when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar1 that the angel of the ,,lord ascended in the flame of the altar4 ,and ,manoah and his wife looked on it1 and fell on their faces to the ground4 #jg3jac3jba ,but the angel of the ,,lord did no more appear to ,manoah and to his wife4 ,then ,manoah knew that he was an angel of the ,,lord4 #jg3jac3jbb ,and ,manoah said unto his wife1 ,we shall surely die1 because we have seen ,god4 #jg3jac3jbc ,but his wife said unto him1 ,if the ,,lord were pleased to kill us1 he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands1 neither would he have shewed us all these things1 nor would as at this time have told us such things as these4 #jg3jac3jbd ,and the woman bare a son1 and called his name ,samson3 and the child grew1 and the ,,lord blessed him4 #jg3jac3jbe ,and the ,spirit of the ,,lord began to move him at times in the camp of ,dan between ,zorah and ,eshtaol4 #jg3jad3jja ,and ,samson went down to ,timnath1 and saw a woman in ,timnath of the daughters of the ,philistines4 #jg3jad3jjb ,and he came up1 and told his father and his mother1 and said1 ,i have seen a woman in ,timnath of the daughters of the ,philistines3 now therefore get her for me to wife4 #jg3jad3jjc ,then his father and his mother said unto him1 ,is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren1 or among all my people1 that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised ,philistines8 ,and ,samson said unto his father1 ,get her for me2 for she pleaseth me well4 #jg3jad3jjd ,but his father and his mother knew not that it was of the ,,lord1 that he sought an occasion against the ,philistines3 for at that time the ,philistines had dominion over ,israel4 #jg3jad3jje ,then went ,samson down1 and his father and his mother1 to ,timnath1 and came to the vineyards of ,timnath3 and1 behold1 a young lion roared against him4 #jg3jad3jjf ,and the ,spirit of the ,,lord came mightily upon him1 and he rent him as he would have rent a kid1 and he had nothing in his hand3 but he told not his father or his mother what he had done4 #jg3jad3jjg ,and he went down1 and talked with the woman2 and she pleased ,samson well4 #jg3jad3jjh ,and after a time he returned to take her1 and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion3 and1 behold1 there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion4 #jg3jad3jji ,and he took thereof in his hands1 and went on eating1 and came to his father and mother1 and he gave them1 and they did eat3 but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion4 #jg3jad3jaj ,so his father went down unto the woman3 and ,samson made there a feast2 for so used the young men to do4 #jg3jad3jaa ,and it came to pass1 when they saw him1 that they brought thirty companions to be with him4 #jg3jad3jab ,and ,samson said unto them1 ,i will now put forth a riddle unto you3 if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast1 and find it out1 then ,i will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments3 #jg3jad3jac ,but if ye cannot declare it me1 then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments4 ,and they said unto him1 ,put forth thy riddle1 that we may hear it4 #jg3jad3jad ,and he said unto them1 ,out of the eater came forth meat1 and out of the strong came forth sweetness4 ,and they could not in three days expound the riddle4 #jg3jad3jae ,and it came to pass on the seventh day1 that they said unto ,samson's wife1 ,entice thy husband1 that he may declare unto us the riddle1 lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire3 have ye called us to take that we have8 is it not so8 #jg3jad3jaf ,and ,samson's wife wept before him1 and said1 ,thou dost but hate me1 and lovest me not3 thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people1 and hast not told it me4 ,and he said unto her1 ,behold1 ,i have not told it my father nor my mother1 and shall ,i tell it thee8 #jg3jad3jag ,and she wept before him the seven days1 while their feast lasted3 and it came to pass on the seventh day1 that he told her1 because she lay sore upon him3 and she told the riddle to the children of her people4 #jg3jad3jah ,and the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down1 ,what is sweeter than honey8 ,and what is stronger than a lion8 and he said unto them1 ,if ye had not plowed with my heifer1 ye had not found out my riddle4 #jg3jad3jai ,and the ,spirit of the ,,lord came upon him1 and he went down to ,ashkelon1 and slew thirty men of them1 and took their spoil1 and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle4 ,and his anger was kindled1 and he went up to his father's house4 #jg3jad3jbj ,but ,samson's wife was given to his companion1 whom he had used as his friend4 #jg3jae3jja ,but it came to pass within a while after1 in the time of wheat harvest1 that ,samson visited his wife with a kid2 and he said1 ,i will go in to my wife into the chamber4 ,but her father would not suffer him to go in4 #jg3jae3jjb ,and her father said1 ,i verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her2 therefore ,i gave her to thy companion3 is not her younger sister fairer than she8 take her1 ,i pray thee1 instead of her4 #jg3jae3jjc ,and ,samson said concerning them1 ,now shall ,i be more blameless than the ,philistines1 though ,i do them a displeasure4 #jg3jae3jjd ,and ,samson went and caught three hundred foxes1 and took firebrands1 and turned tail to tail1 and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails4 #jg3jae3jje ,and when he had set the brands on fire1 he let them go into the standing corn of the ,philistines1 and burnt up both the shocks1 and also the standing corn1 with the vineyards and olives4 #jg3jae3jjf ,then the ,philistines said1 ,who hath done this8 ,and they answered1 ,samson1 the son in law of the ,timnite1 because he had taken his wife1 and given her to his companion4 ,and the ,philistines came up1 and burnt her and her father with fire4 #jg3jae3jjg ,and ,samson said unto them1 ,though ye have done this1 yet will ,i be avenged of you1 and after that ,i will cease4 #jg3jae3jjh ,and he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter3 and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock ,etam4 #jg3jae3jji ,then the ,philistines went up1 and pitched in ,judah1 and spread themselves in ,lehi4 #jg3jae3jaj ,and the men of ,judah said1 ,why are ye come up against us8 ,and they answered1 ,to bind ,samson are we come up1 to do to him as he hath done to us4 #jg3jae3jaa ,then three thousand men of ,judah went to the top of the rock ,etam1 and said to ,samson1 ,knowest thou not that the ,philistines are rulers over us8 what is this that thou hast done unto us8 ,and he said unto them1 ,as they did unto me1 so have ,i done unto them4 #jg3jae3jab ,and they said unto him1 ,we are come down to bind thee1 that we may deliver thee into the hand of the ,philistines4 ,and ,samson said unto them1 ,swear unto me1 that ye will not fall upon me yourselves4 #jg3jae3jac ,and they spake unto him1 saying1 ,no2 but we will bind thee fast1 and deliver thee into their hand3 but surely we will not kill thee4 ,and they bound him with two new cords1 and brought him up from the rock4 #jg3jae3jad ,and when he came unto ,lehi1 the ,philistines shouted against him3 and the ,spirit of the ,,lord came mightily upon him1 and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire1 and his bands loosed from off his hands4 #jg3jae3jae ,and he found a new jawbone of an ass1 and put forth his hand1 and took it1 and slew a thousand men therewith4 #jg3jae3jaf ,and ,samson said1 ,with the jawbone of an ass1 heaps upon heaps1 with the jaw of an ass have ,i slain a thousand men4 #jg3jae3jag ,and it came to pass1 when he had made an end of speaking1 that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand1 and called that place ,ramathlehi4 #jg3jae3jah ,and he was sore athirst1 and called on the ,,lord1 and said1 ,thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant3 and now shall ,i die for thirst1 and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised8 #jg3jae3jai ,but ,god clave an hollow place that was in the jaw1 and there came water thereout2 and when he had drunk1 his spirit came again1 and he revived3 wherefore he called the name thereof ,enhakkore1 which is in ,lehi unto this day4 #jg3jae3jbj ,and he judged ,israel in the days of the ,philistines twenty years4 #jg3jaf3jja ,then went ,samson to ,gaza1 and saw there an harlot1 and went in unto her4 #jg3jaf3jjb ,and it was told the ,gazites1 saying1 ,samson is come hither4 ,and they compassed him in1 and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city1 and were quiet all the night1 saying1 ,in the morning1 when it is day1 we shall kill him4 #jg3jaf3jjc ,and ,samson lay till midnight1 and arose at midnight1 and took the doors of the gate of the city1 and the two posts1 and went away with them1 bar and all1 and put them upon his shoulders1 and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before ,hebron4 #jg3jaf3jjd ,and it came to pass afterward1 that he loved a woman in the valley of ,sorek1 whose name was ,delilah4 #jg3jaf3jje ,and the lords of the ,philistines came up unto her1 and said unto her1 ,entice him1 and see wherein his great strength lieth1 and by what means we may prevail against him1 that we may bind him to afflict him2 and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver4 #jg3jaf3jjf ,and ,delilah said to ,samson1 ,tell me1 ,i pray thee1 wherein thy great strength lieth1 and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee4 #jg3jaf3jjg ,and ,samson said unto her1 ,if they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried1 then shall ,i be weak1 and be as another man4 #jg3jaf3jjh ,then the lords of the ,philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried1 and she bound him with them4 #jg3jaf3jji ,now there were men lying in wait1 abiding with her in the chamber4 ,and she said unto him1 ,the ,philistines be upon thee1 ,samson4 ,and he brake the withs1 as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire4 ,so his strength was not known4 #jg3jaf3jaj ,and ,delilah said unto ,samson1 ,behold1 thou hast mocked me1 and told me lies3 now tell me1 ,i pray thee1 wherewith thou mightest be bound4 #jg3jaf3jaa ,and he said unto her1 ,if they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied1 then shall ,i be weak1 and be as another man4 #jg3jaf3jab ,delilah therefore took new ropes1 and bound him therewith1 and said unto him1 ,the ,philistines be upon thee1 ,samson4 ,and there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber4 ,and he brake them from off his arms like a thread4 #jg3jaf3jac ,and ,delilah said unto ,samson1 ,hitherto thou hast mocked me1 and told me lies3 tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound4 ,and he said unto her1 ,if thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web4 #jg3jaf3jad ,and she fastened it with the pin1 and said unto him1 ,the ,philistines be upon thee1 ,samson4 ,and he awaked out of his sleep1 and went away with the pin of the beam1 and with the web4 #jg3jaf3jae ,and she said unto him1 ,how canst thou say1 ,i love thee1 when thine heart is not with me8 thou hast mocked me these three times1 and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth4 #jg3jaf3jaf ,and it came to pass1 when she pressed him daily with her words1 and urged him1 so that his soul was vexed unto death2 #jg3jaf3jag ,that he told her all his heart1 and said unto her1 ,there hath not come a razor upon mine head2 for ,i have been a ,nazarite unto ,god from my mother's womb3 if ,i be shaven1 then my strength will go from me1 and ,i shall become weak1 and be like any other man4 #jg3jaf3jah ,and when ,delilah saw that he had told her all his heart1 she sent and called for the lords of the ,philistines1 saying1 ,come up this once1 for he hath shewed me all his heart4 ,then the lords of the ,philistines came up unto her1 and brought money in their hand4 #jg3jaf3jai ,and she made him sleep upon her knees2 and she called for a man1 and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head2 and she began to afflict him1 and his strength went from him4 #jg3jaf3jbj ,and she said1 ,the ,philistines be upon thee1 ,samson4 ,and he awoke out of his sleep1 and said1 ,i will go out as at other times before1 and shake myself4 ,and he wist not that the ,,lord was departed from him4 #jg3jaf3jba ,but the ,philistines took him1 and put out his eyes1 and brought him down to ,gaza1 and bound him with fetters of brass2 and he did grind in the prison house4 #jg3jaf3jbb ,howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven4 #jg3jaf3jbc ,then the lords of the ,philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto ,dagon their god1 and to rejoice3 for they said1 ,our god hath delivered ,samson our enemy into our hand4 #jg3jaf3jbd ,and when the people saw him1 they praised their god3 for they said1 ,our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy1 and the destroyer of our country1 which slew many of us4 #jg3jaf3jbe ,and it came to pass1 when their hearts were merry1 that they said1 ,call for ,samson1 that he may make us sport4 ,and they called for ,samson out of the prison house2 and he made them sport3 and they set him between the pillars4 #jg3jaf3jbf ,and ,samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand1 ,suffer me that ,i may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth1 that ,i may lean upon them4 #jg3jaf3jbg ,now the house was full of men and women2 and all the lords of the ,philistines were there2 and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women1 that beheld while ,samson made sport4 #jg3jaf3jbh ,and ,samson called unto the ,,lord1 and said1 ,o ,lord ,god1 remember me1 ,i pray thee1 and strengthen me1 ,i pray thee1 only this once1 ,o ,god1 that ,i may be at once avenged of the ,philistines for my two eyes4 #jg3jaf3jbi ,and ,samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood1 and on which it was borne up1 of the one with his right hand1 and of the other with his left4 #jg3jaf3jcj ,and ,samson said1 ,let me die with the ,philistines4 ,and he bowed himself with all his might2 and the house fell upon the lords1 and upon all the people that were therein4 ,so the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life4 #jg3jaf3jca ,then his brethren and all the house of his father came down1 and took him1 and brought him up1 and buried him between ,zorah and ,eshtaol in the buryingplace of ,manoah his father4 ,and he judged ,israel twenty years4 #jg3jag3jja ,and there was a man of mount ,ephraim1 whose name was ,micah4 #jg3jag3jjb ,and he said unto his mother1 ,the eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee1 about which thou cursedst1 and spakest of also in mine ears1 behold1 the silver is with me2 ,i took it4 ,and his mother said1 ,blessed be thou of the ,,lord1 my son4 #jg3jag3jjc ,and when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother1 his mother said1 ,i had wholly dedicated the silver unto the ,,lord from my hand for my son1 to make a graven image and a molten image3 now therefore ,i will restore it unto thee4 #jg3jag3jjd ,yet he restored the money unto his mother2 and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver1 and gave them to the founder1 who made thereof a graven image and a molten image3 and they were in the house of ,micah4 #jg3jag3jje ,and the man ,micah had an house of gods1 and made an ephod1 and teraphim1 and consecrated one of his sons1 who became his priest4 #jg3jag3jjf ,in those days there was no king in ,israel1 but every man did that which was right in his own eyes4 #jg3jag3jjg ,and there was a young man out of ,bethlehemjudah of the family of ,judah1 who was a ,levite1 and he sojourned there4 #jg3jag3jjh ,and the man departed out of the city from ,bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find a place3 and he came to mount ,ephraim to the house of ,micah1 as he journeyed4 #jg3jag3jji ,and ,micah said unto him1 ,whence comest thou8 ,and he said unto him1 ,i am a ,levite of ,bethlehemjudah1 and ,i go to sojourn where ,i may find a place4 #jg3jag3jaj ,and ,micah said unto him1 ,dwell with me1 and be unto me a father and a priest1 and ,i will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year1 and a suit of apparel1 and thy victuals4 ,so the ,levite went in4 #jg3jag3jaa ,and the ,levite was content to dwell with the man2 and the young man was unto him as one of his sons4 #jg3jag3jab ,and ,micah consecrated the ,levite2 and the young man became his priest1 and was in the house of ,micah4 #jg3jag3jac ,then said ,micah1 ,now know ,i that the ,,lord will do me good1 seeing ,i have a ,levite to my priest4 #jg3jah3jja ,in those days there was no king in ,israel3 and in those days the tribe of the ,danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in2 for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of ,israel4 #jg3jah3jjb ,and the children of ,dan sent of their family five men from their coasts1 men of valour1 from ,zorah1 and from ,eshtaol1 to spy out the land1 and to search it2 and they said unto them1 ,go1 search the land3 who when they came to mount ,ephraim1 to the house of ,micah1 they lodged there4 #jg3jah3jjc ,when they were by the house of ,micah1 they knew the voice of the young man the ,levite3 and they turned in thither1 and said unto him1 ,who brought thee hither8 and what makest thou in this place8 and what hast thou here8 #jg3jah3jjd ,and he said unto them1 ,thus and thus dealeth ,micah with me1 and hath hired me1 and ,i am his priest4 #jg3jah3jje ,and they said unto him1 ,ask counsel1 we pray thee1 of ,god1 that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous4 #jg3jah3jjf ,and the priest said unto them1 ,go in peace3 before the ,,lord is your way wherein ye go4 #jg3jah3jjg ,then the five men departed1 and came to ,laish1 and saw the people that were therein1 how they dwelt careless1 after the manner of the ,zidonians1 quiet and secure2 and there was no magistrate in the land1 that might put them to shame in any thing2 and they were far from the ,zidonians1 and had no business with any man4 #jg3jah3jjh ,and they came unto their brethren to ,zorah and ,eshtaol3 and their brethren said unto them1 ,what say ye8 #jg3jah3jji ,and they said1 ,arise1 that we may go up against them3 for we have seen the land1 and1 behold1 it is very good3 and are ye still8 be not slothful to go1 and to enter to possess the land4 #jg3jah3jaj ,when ye go1 ye shall come unto a people secure1 and to a large land3 for ,god hath given it into your hands2 a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth4 #jg3jah3jaa ,and there went from thence of the family of the ,danites1 out of ,zorah and out of ,eshtaol1 six hundred men appointed with weapons of war4 #jg3jah3jab ,and they went up1 and pitched in ,kirjathjearim1 in ,judah3 wherefore they called that place ,mahanehdan unto this day3 behold1 it is behind ,kirjathjearim4 #jg3jah3jac ,and they passed thence unto mount ,ephraim1 and came unto the house of ,micah4 #jg3jah3jad ,then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of ,laish1 and said unto their brethren1 ,do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod1 and teraphim1 and a graven image1 and a molten image8 now therefore consider what ye have to do4 #jg3jah3jae ,and they turned thitherward1 and came to the house of the young man the ,levite1 even unto the house of ,micah1 and saluted him4 #jg3jah3jaf ,and the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war1 which were of the children of ,dan1 stood by the entering of the gate4 #jg3jah3jag ,and the five men that went to spy out the land went up1 and came in thither1 and took the graven image1 and the ephod1 and the teraphim1 and the molten image3 and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war4 #jg3jah3jah ,and these went into ,micah's house1 and fetched the carved image1 the ephod1 and the teraphim1 and the molten image4 ,then said the priest unto them1 ,what do ye8 #jg3jah3jai ,and they said unto him1 ,hold thy peace1 lay thine hand upon thy mouth1 and go with us1 and be to us a father and a priest3 is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man1 or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in ,israel8 #jg3jah3jbj ,and the priest's heart was glad1 and he took the ephod1 and the teraphim1 and the graven image1 and went in the midst of the people4 #jg3jah3jba ,so they turned and departed1 and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them4 #jg3jah3jbb ,and when they were a good way from the house of ,micah1 the men that were in the houses near to ,micah's house were gathered together1 and overtook the children of ,dan4 #jg3jah3jbc ,and they cried unto the children of ,dan4 ,and they turned their faces1 and said unto ,micah1 ,what aileth thee1 that thou comest with such a company8 #jg3jah3jbd ,and he said1 ,ye have taken away my gods which ,i made1 and the priest1 and ye are gone away3 and what have ,i more8 and what is this that ye say unto me1 ,what aileth thee8 #jg3jah3jbe ,and the children of ,dan said unto him1 ,let not thy voice be heard among us1 lest angry fellows run upon thee1 and thou lose thy life1 with the lives of thy household4 #jg3jah3jbf ,and the children of ,dan went their way3 and when ,micah saw that they were too strong for him1 he turned and went back unto his house4 #jg3jah3jbg ,and they took the things which ,micah had made1 and the priest which he had1 and came unto ,laish1 unto a people that were at quiet and secure3 and they smote them with the edge of the sword1 and burnt the city with fire4 #jg3jah3jbh ,and there was no deliverer1 because it was far from ,zidon1 and they had no business with any man2 and it was in the valley that lieth by ,bethrehob4 ,and they built a city1 and dwelt therein4 #jg3jah3jbi ,and they called the name of the city ,dan1 after the name of ,dan their father1 who was born unto ,israel3 howbeit the name of the city was ,laish at the first4 #jg3jah3jcj ,and the children of ,dan set up the graven image3 and ,jonathan1 the son of ,gershom1 the son of ,manasseh1 he and his sons were priests to the tribe of ,dan until the day of the captivity of the land4 #jg3jah3jca ,and they set them up ,micah's graven image1 which he made1 all the time that the house of ,god was in ,shiloh4 #jg3jai3jja ,and it came to pass in those days1 when there was no king in ,israel1 that there was a certain ,levite sojourning on the side of mount ,ephraim1 who took to him a concubine out of ,bethlehemjudah4 #jg3jai3jjb ,and his concubine played the whore against him1 and went away from him unto her father's house to ,bethlehemjudah1 and was there four whole months4 #jg3jai3jjc ,and her husband arose1 and went after her1 to speak friendly unto her1 and to bring her again1 having his servant with him1 and a couple of asses3 and she brought him into her father's house3 and when the father of the damsel saw him1 he rejoiced to meet him4 #jg3jai3jjd ,and his father in law1 the damsel's father1 retained him2 and he abode with him three days3 so they did eat and drink1 and lodged there4 #jg3jai3jje ,and it came to pass on the fourth day1 when they arose early in the morning1 that he rose up to depart3 and the damsel's father said unto his son in law1 ,comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread1 and afterward go your way4 #jg3jai3jjf ,and they sat down1 and did eat and drink both of them together3 for the damsel's father had said unto the man1 ,be content1 ,i pray thee1 and tarry all night1 and let thine heart be merry4 #jg3jai3jjg ,and when the man rose up to depart1 his father in law urged him3 therefore he lodged there again4 #jg3jai3jjh ,and he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart2 and the damsel's father said1 ,comfort thine heart1 ,i pray thee4 ,and they tarried until afternoon1 and they did eat both of them4 #jg3jai3jji ,and when the man rose up to depart1 he1 and his concubine1 and his servant1 his father in law1 the damsel's father1 said unto him1 ,behold1 now the day draweth toward evening1 ,i pray you tarry all night3 behold1 the day groweth to an end1 lodge here1 that thine heart may be merry2 and to morrow get you early on your way1 that thou mayest go home4 #jg3jai3jaj ,but the man would not tarry that night1 but he rose up and departed1 and came over against ,jebus1 which is ,jerusalem2 and there were with him two asses saddled1 his concubine also was with him4 #jg3jai3jaa ,and when they were by ,jebus1 the day was far spent2 and the servant said unto his master1 ,come1 ,i pray thee1 and let us turn in into this city of the ,jebusites1 and lodge in it4 #jg3jai3jab ,and his master said unto him1 ,we will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger1 that is not of the children of ,israel2 we will pass over to ,gibeah4 #jg3jai3jac ,and he said unto his servant1 ,come1 and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night1 in ,gibeah1 or in ,ramah4 #jg3jai3jad ,and they passed on and went their way2 and the sun went down upon them when they were by ,gibeah1 which belongeth to ,benjamin4 #jg3jai3jae ,and they turned aside thither1 to go in and to lodge in ,gibeah3 and when he went in1 he sat him down in a street of the city3 for there was no man that took them into his house to lodging4 #jg3jai3jaf ,and1 behold1 there came an old man from his work out of the field at even1 which was also of mount ,ephraim2 and he sojourned in ,gibeah3 but the men of the place were ,benjamites4 #jg3jai3jag ,and when he had lifted up his eyes1 he saw a wayfaring man in the street of the city3 and the old man said1 ,whither goest thou8 and whence comest thou8 #jg3jai3jah ,and he said unto him1 ,we are passing from ,bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount ,ephraim2 from thence am ,i3 and ,i went to ,bethlehemjudah1 but ,i am now going to the house of the ,,lord2 and there is no man that receiveth me to house4 #jg3jai3jai ,yet there is both straw and provender for our asses2 and there is bread and wine also for me1 and for thy handmaid1 and for the young man which is with thy servants3 there is no want of any thing4 #jg3jai3jbj ,and the old man said1 ,peace be with thee2 howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me2 only lodge not in the street4 #jg3jai3jba ,so he brought him into his house1 and gave provender unto the asses3 and they washed their feet1 and did eat and drink4 #jg3jai3jbb ,now as they were making their hearts merry1 behold1 the men of the city1 certain sons of ,belial1 beset the house round about1 and beat at the door1 and spake to the master of the house1 the old man1 saying1 ,bring forth the man that came into thine house1 that we may know him4 #jg3jai3jbc ,and the man1 the master of the house1 went out unto them1 and said unto them1 ,nay1 my brethren1 nay1 ,i pray you1 do not so wickedly2 seeing that this man is come into mine house1 do not this folly4 #jg3jai3jbd ,behold1 here is my daughter a maiden1 and his concubine2 them ,i will bring out now1 and humble ye them1 and do with them what seemeth good unto you3 but unto this man do not so vile a thing4 #jg3jai3jbe ,but the men would not hearken to him3 so the man took his concubine1 and brought her forth unto them2 and they knew her1 and abused her all the night until the morning3 and when the day began to spring1 they let her go4 #jg3jai3jbf ,then came the woman in the dawning of the day1 and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord was1 till it was light4 #jg3jai3jbg ,and her lord rose up in the morning1 and opened the doors of the house1 and went out to go his way3 and1 behold1 the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house1 and her hands were upon the threshold4 #jg3jai3jbh ,and he said unto her1 ,up1 and let us be going4 ,but none answered4 ,then the man took her up upon an ass1 and the man rose up1 and gat him unto his place4 #jg3jai3jbi ,and when he was come into his house1 he took a knife1 and laid hold on his concubine1 and divided her1 together with her bones1 into twelve pieces1 and sent her into all the coasts of ,israel4 #jg3jai3jcj ,and it was so1 that all that saw it said1 ,there was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of ,israel came up out of the land of ,egypt unto this day3 consider of it1 take advice1 and speak your minds4 #jg3jbj3jja ,then all the children of ,israel went out1 and the congregation was gathered together as one man1 from ,dan even to ,beersheba1 with the land of ,gilead1 unto the ,,lord in ,mizpeh4 #jg3jbj3jjb ,and the chief of all the people1 even of all the tribes of ,israel1 presented themselves in the assembly of the people of ,god1 four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword4 #jg3jbj3jjc 7,now the children of ,benjamin heard that the children of ,israel were gone up to ,mizpeh47 ,then said the children of ,israel1 ,tell us1 how was this wickedness8 #jg3jbj3jjd ,and the ,levite1 the husband of the woman that was slain1 answered and said1 ,i came into ,gibeah that belongeth to ,benjamin1 ,i and my concubine1 to lodge4 #jg3jbj3jje ,and the men of ,gibeah rose against me1 and beset the house round about upon me by night1 and thought to have slain me3 and my concubine have they forced1 that she is dead4 #jg3jbj3jjf ,and ,i took my concubine1 and cut her in pieces1 and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of ,israel3 for they have committed lewdness and folly in ,israel4 #jg3jbj3jjg ,behold1 ye are all children of ,israel2 give here your advice and counsel4 #jg3jbj3jjh ,and all the people arose as one man1 saying1 ,we will not any of us go to his tent1 neither will we any of us turn into his house4 #jg3jbj3jji ,but now this shall be the thing which we will do to ,gibeah2 we will go up by lot against it2 #jg3jbj3jaj ,and we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of ,israel1 and an hundred of a thousand1 and a thousand out of ten thousand1 to fetch victual for the people1 that they may do1 when they come to ,gibeah of ,benjamin1 according to all the folly that they have wrought in ,israel4 #jg3jbj3jaa ,so all the men of ,israel were gathered against the city1 knit together as one man4 #jg3jbj3jab ,and the tribes of ,israel sent men through all the tribe of ,benjamin1 saying1 ,what wickedness is this that is done among you8 #jg3jbj3jac ,now therefore deliver us the men1 the children of ,belial1 which are in ,gibeah1 that we may put them to death1 and put away evil from ,israel4 ,but the children of ,benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of ,israel4 #jg3jbj3jad ,but the children of ,benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto ,gibeah1 to go out to battle against the children of ,israel4 #jg3jbj3jae ,and the children of ,benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword1 beside the inhabitants of ,gibeah1 which were numbered seven hundred chosen men4 #jg3jbj3jaf ,among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded2 every one could sling stones at an hair breadth1 and not miss4 #jg3jbj3jag ,and the men of ,israel1 beside ,benjamin1 were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword3 all these were men of war4 #jg3jbj3jah ,and the children of ,israel arose1 and went up to the house of ,god1 and asked counsel of ,god1 and said1 ,which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of ,benjamin8 ,and the ,,lord said1 ,judah shall go up first4 #jg3jbj3jai ,and the children of ,israel rose up in the morning1 and encamped against ,gibeah4 #jg3jbj3jbj ,and the men of ,israel went out to battle against ,benjamin2 and the men of ,israel put themselves in array to fight against them at ,gibeah4 #jg3jbj3jba ,and the children of ,benjamin came forth out of ,gibeah1 and destroyed down to the ground of the ,israelites that day twenty and two thousand men4 #jg3jbj3jbb ,and the people the men of ,israel encouraged themselves1 and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day4 #jg3jbj3jbc 7,and the children of ,israel went up and wept before the ,,lord until even1 and asked counsel of the ,,lord1 saying1 ,shall ,i go up again to battle against the children of ,benjamin my brother8 ,and the ,,lord said1 ,go up against him47 #jg3jbj3jbd ,and the children of ,israel came near against the children of ,benjamin the second day4 #jg3jbj3jbe ,and ,benjamin went forth against them out of ,gibeah the second day1 and destroyed down to the ground of the children of ,israel again eighteen thousand men2 all these drew the sword4 #jg3jbj3jbf ,then all the children of ,israel1 and all the people1 went up1 and came unto the house of ,god1 and wept1 and sat there before the ,,lord1 and fasted that day until even1 and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the ,,lord4 #jg3jbj3jbg ,and the children of ,israel enquired of the ,,lord1 7for the ark of the covenant of ,god was there in those days1 #jg3jbj3jbh ,and ,phinehas1 the son of ,eleazar1 the son of ,aaron1 stood before it in those days17 saying1 ,shall ,i yet again go out to battle against the children of ,benjamin my brother1 or shall ,i cease8 ,and the ,,lord said1 ,go up2 for to morrow ,i will deliver them into thine hand4 #jg3jbj3jbi ,and ,israel set liers in wait round about ,gibeah4 #jg3jbj3jcj ,and the children of ,israel went up against the children of ,benjamin on the third day1 and put themselves in array against ,gibeah1 as at other times4 #jg3jbj3jca ,and the children of ,benjamin went out against the people1 and were drawn away from the city2 and they began to smite of the people1 and kill1 as at other times1 in the highways1 of which one goeth up to the house of ,god1 and the other to ,gibeah in the field1 about thirty men of ,israel4 #jg3jbj3jcb ,and the children of ,benjamin said1 ,they are smitten down before us1 as at the first4 ,but the children of ,israel said1 ,let us flee1 and draw them from the city unto the highways4 #jg3jbj3jcc ,and all the men of ,israel rose up out of their place1 and put themselves in array at ,baaltamar3 and the liers in wait of ,israel came forth out of their places1 even out of the meadows of ,gibeah4 #jg3jbj3jcd ,and there came against ,gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all ,israel1 and the battle was sore3 but they knew not that evil was near them4 #jg3jbj3jce ,and the ,,lord smote ,benjamin before ,israel3 and the children of ,israel destroyed of the ,benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men3 all these drew the sword4 #jg3jbj3jcf ,so the children of ,benjamin saw that they were smitten3 for the men of ,israel gave place to the ,benjamites1 because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside ,gibeah4 #jg3jbj3jcg ,and the liers in wait hasted1 and rushed upon ,gibeah2 and the liers in wait drew themselves along1 and smote all the city with the edge of the sword4 #jg3jbj3jch ,now there was an appointed sign between the men of ,israel and the liers in wait1 that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city4 #jg3jbj3jci ,and when the men of ,israel retired in the battle1 ,benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of ,israel about thirty persons3 for they said1 ,surely they are smitten down before us1 as in the first battle4 #jg3jbj3jdj ,but when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke1 the ,benjamites looked behind them1 and1 behold1 the flame of the city ascended up to heaven4 #jg3jbj3jda ,and when the men of ,israel turned again1 the men of ,benjamin were amazed3 for they saw that evil was come upon them4 #jg3jbj3jdb ,therefore they turned their backs before the men of ,israel unto the way of the wilderness2 but the battle overtook them2 and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them4 #jg3jbj3jdc ,thus they inclosed the ,benjamites round about1 and chased them1 and trode them down with ease over against ,gibeah toward the sunrising4 #jg3jbj3jdd ,and there fell of ,benjamin eighteen thousand men2 all these were men of valour4 #jg3jbj3jde ,and they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of ,rimmon3 and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men2 and pursued hard after them unto ,gidom1 and slew two thousand men of them4 #jg3jbj3jdf ,so that all which fell that day of ,benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword2 all these were men of valour4 #jg3jbj3jdg ,but six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock ,rimmon1 and abode in the rock ,rimmon four months4 #jg3jbj3jdh ,and the men of ,israel turned again upon the children of ,benjamin1 and smote them with the edge of the sword1 as well the men of every city1 as the beast1 and all that came to hand3 also they set on fire all the cities that they came to4 #jg3jba3jja ,now the men of ,israel had sworn in ,mizpeh1 saying1 ,there shall not any of us give his daughter unto ,benjamin to wife4 #jg3jba3jjb ,and the people came to the house of ,god1 and abode there till even before ,god1 and lifted up their voices1 and wept sore2 #jg3jba3jjc ,and said1 ,o ,,lord ,god of ,israel1 why is this come to pass in ,israel1 that there should be to day one tribe lacking in ,israel8 #jg3jba3jjd ,and it came to pass on the morrow1 that the people rose early1 and built there an altar1 and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings4 #jg3jba3jje ,and the children of ,israel said1 ,who is there among all the tribes of ,israel that came not up with the congregation unto the ,,lord8 ,for they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the ,,lord to ,mizpeh1 saying1 ,he shall surely be put to death4 #jg3jba3jjf ,and the children of ,israel repented them for ,benjamin their brother1 and said1 ,there is one tribe cut off from ,israel this day4 #jg3jba3jjg ,how shall we do for wives for them that remain1 seeing we have sworn by the ,,lord that we will not give them of our daughters to wives8 #jg3jba3jjh ,and they said1 ,what one is there of the tribes of ,israel that came not up to ,mizpeh to the ,,lord8 ,and1 behold1 there came none to the camp from ,jabeshgilead to the assembly4 #jg3jba3jji ,for the people were numbered1 and1 behold1 there were none of the inhabitants of ,jabeshgilead there4 #jg3jba3jaj ,and the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest1 and commanded them1 saying1 ,go and smite the inhabitants of ,jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword1 with the women and the children4 #jg3jba3jaa ,and this is the thing that ye shall do1 ,ye shall utterly destroy every male1 and every woman that hath lain by man4 #jg3jba3jab ,and they found among the inhabitants of ,jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins1 that had known no man by lying with any male3 and they brought them unto the camp to ,shiloh1 which is in the land of ,canaan4 #jg3jba3jac ,and the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of ,benjamin that were in the rock ,rimmon1 and to call peaceably unto them4 #jg3jba3jad ,and ,benjamin came again at that time2 and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of ,jabeshgilead3 and yet so they sufficed them not4 #jg3jba3jae ,and the people repented them for ,benjamin1 because that the ,,lord had made a breach in the tribes of ,israel4 #jg3jba3jaf ,then the elders of the congregation said1 ,how shall we do for wives for them that remain1 seeing the women are destroyed out of ,benjamin8 #jg3jba3jag ,and they said1 ,there must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of ,benjamin1 that a tribe be not destroyed out of ,israel4 #jg3jba3jah ,howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters3 for the children of ,israel have sworn1 saying1 ,cursed be he that giveth a wife to ,benjamin4 #jg3jba3jai ,then they said1 ,behold1 there is a feast of the ,,lord in ,shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of ,bethel1 on the east side of the highway that goeth up from ,bethel to ,shechem1 and on the south of ,lebonah4 #jg3jba3jbj ,therefore they commanded the children of ,benjamin1 saying1 ,go and lie in wait in the vineyards2 #jg3jba3jba ,and see1 and1 behold1 if the daughters of ,shiloh come out to dance in dances1 then come ye out of the vineyards1 and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of ,shiloh1 and go to the land of ,benjamin4 #jg3jba3jbb ,and it shall be1 when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain1 that we will say unto them1 ,be favourable unto them for our sakes3 because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war3 for ye did not give unto them at this time1 that ye should be guilty4 #jg3jba3jbc ,and the children of ,benjamin did so1 and took them wives1 according to their number1 of them that danced1 whom they caught3 and they went and returned unto their inheritance1 and repaired the cities1 and dwelt in them4 #jg3jba3jbd ,and the children of ,israel departed thence at that time1 every man to his tribe and to his family1 and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance4 #jg3jba3jbe ,in those days there was no king in ,israel3 every man did that which was right in his own eyes4
