not a battle1 it is a game4 ,it is a game1 however1 which cannot be played successfully without the knowledge of spiritual law1 and the ,old and the ,new ,testaments give the rules of the game with wonderful clearness4 ,jesus ,christ taught that it was a great game of ,giving and ,receiving4 8,whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap40 ,this means that whatever man sends out in word or deed1 will return to him2 what he gives1 he will receive4 ,if he gives hate1 he will receive hate2 if he gives love1 he will receive love2 if he gives criticism1 he will receive criticism2 if he lies he will be lied to2 if he cheats he will be cheated4 ,we are taught also1 that the imaging faculty plays a leading part in the game of life4 8,keep thy heart 7or imagination7 with all diligence1 for out of it are the issues of life40 7,prov4 #d3bc47 ,this means that what man images1 sooner or later externalizes in his affairs4 ,i know of a man who feared a certain disease4 ,it was a very rare disease and difficult to get1 but he pictured it continually and read about it until it manifested in his body1 and he died1 the victim of distorted imagination4 ,so we see1 to play successfully the game of life1 we must train the imaging faculty4 ,a person with an imaging faculty trained to image only good1 brings into his life 8every righteous desire of his heart0--health1 wealth1 love1 friends1 perfect self-expression1 his highest ideals4 ,the imagination has been called1 8,the ,scissors of ,the ,mind10 and it is ever cutting1 cutting1 day by day1 the pictures man sees there1 and sooner or later he meets his own creations in his outer world4 ,to train the imagination successfully1 man must understand the workings of his mind4 ,the ,greeks said3 8,know ,thyself40 ,there are three departments of the mind1 the subconscious1 conscious and superconscious4 ,the subconscious1 is simply power1 without direction4 ,it is like steam or electricity1 and it does what it is directed to do2 it has no power of induction4 ,whatever man feels deeply or images clearly1 is impressed upon the subconscious mind1 and carried out in minutest detail4 ,for example3 a woman ,i know1 when a child1 always 8made believe0 she was a widow4 ,she 8dressed up0 in black clothes and wore a long black veil1 and people thought she was very clever and amusing4 ,she grew up and married a man with whom she was deeply in love4 ,in a short time he died and she wore black and a sweeping veil for many years4 ,the picture of herself as a widow was impressed upon the subconscious mind1 and in due time worked itself out1 regardless of the havoc created4 ,the conscious mind has been called mortal or carnal mind4 ,it is the human mind and sees life as it appears to be4 ,it sees death1 disaster1 sickness1 poverty and limitation of every kind1 and it impresses the subconscious4 ,the superconscious mind is the ,god ,mind within each man1 and is the realm of perfect ideas4 ,in it1 is the 8perfect pattern0 spoken of by ,plato1 ,the ,divine ,design2 for there is a ,divine ,design for each person4 8,there is a place that you are to fill and no one else can fill1 something you are to do1 which no one else can do40 ,there is a perfect picture of this in the superconscious mind4 ,it usually flashes across the conscious as an unattainable ideal--8something too good to be true40 ,in reality it is man's true destiny 7or destination7 flashed to him from the ,infinite ,intelligence which is within himself4 ,many people1 however1 are in ignorance of their true destinies and are striving for things and situations which do not belong to them1 and would only bring failure and dissatisfaction if attained4 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me and asked me to 8speak the word0 that she would marry a certain man with whom she was very much in love4 7,she called him ,a4 ,b47 ,i replied that this would be a violation of spiritual law1 but that ,i would speak the word for the right man1 the 8divine selection10 the man who belonged to her by divine right4 ,i added1 8,if ,a4 ,b4 is the right man you can't lose him1 and if he isn't1 you will receive his equivalent40 ,she saw ,a4 ,b4 frequently but no headway was made in their friendship4 ,one evening she called1 and said1 8,do you know1 for the last week1 ,a4 ,b4 hasn't seemed so wonderful to me40 ,i replied1 8,maybe he is not the divine selection--another man may be the right one40 ,soon after that1 she met another man who fell in love with her at once1 and who said she was his ideal4 ,in fact1 he said all the things that she had always wished ,a4 ,b4 would say to her4 ,she remarked1 8,it was quite uncanny40 ,she soon returned his love1 and lost all interest in ,a4 ,b4 ,this shows the law of substitution4 ,a right idea was substituted for a wrong one1 therefore there was no loss or sacrifice involved4 ,jesus ,christ said1 8,seek ye first the ,kingdom of ,god and his righteousness2 and all these things shall be added unto you10 and he said the ,kingdom was within man4 ,the ,kingdom is the realm of right ideas1 or the divine pattern4 ,jesus ,christ taught that man's words played a leading part in the game of life4 8,by your words ye are justified and by your words ye are condemned40 ,many people have brought disaster into their lives through idle words4 ,for example3 ,a woman once asked me why her life was now one of poverty of limitation4 ,formerly she had a home1 was surrounded by beautiful things and had plenty of money4 ,we found she had often tired of the management of her home1 and had said repeatedly1 8,i'm sick and tired of things--,i wish ,i lived in a trunk10 and she added3 8,today ,i am living in that trunk40 ,she had spoken herself into a trunk4 ,the subconscious mind has no sense of humor and people often joke themselves into unhappy experiences4 ,for example3 ,a woman who had a great deal of money1 joked continually about 8getting ready for the poorhouse40 ,in a few years she was almost destitute1 having impressed the subconscious mind with a picture of lack and limitation4 ,fortunately the law works both ways1 and a situation of lack may be changed to one of plenty4 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me one hot summer's day for a 8treatment0 for prosperity4 ,she was worn out1 dejected and discouraged4 ,she said she possessed just eight dollars in the world4 ,i said1 8,good1 we'll bless the eight dollars and multiply them as ,jesus ,christ multiplied the loaves and the fishes10 for ,he taught that every man had the power to bless and to multiply1 to heal and to prosper4 ,she said1 8,what shall ,i do next80 ,i replied1 8,follow intuition4 ,have you a #8hunch' to do anything1 or to go anywhere80 ,intuition means1 intuition1 or to be taught from within4 ,it is man's unerring guide1 and ,i will deal more fully with its laws in a following chapter4 ,the woman replied3 8,i don't know--,i seem to have a #8hunch' to go home2 ,i've just enough money for carfare40 ,her home was in a distant city and was one of lack and limitation1 and the reasoning mind 7or intellect7 would have said3 8,stay in ,new ,york and get work and make some money40 ,i replied1 8,then go home--never violate a hunch40 ,i spoke the following words for her3 8,infinite ,spirit open the way for great abundance for ----4 ,she is an irresistible magnet for all that belongs to her by divine right40 ,i told her to repeat it continually also4 ,she left for home immediately4 ,in calling on a woman one day1 she linked up with an old friend of her family4 ,through this friend1 she received thousands of dollars in a most miraculous way4 ,she has said to me often1 8,tell people about the woman who came to you with eight dollars and a hunch40 ,there is always plenty on man's pathway2 but it can only be brought into manifestation through desire1 faith or the spoken word4 ,jesus ,christ brought out clearly that man must make the first move4 8,ask1 and it shall be given you1 seek1 and ye shall find1 knock1 and it shall be opened unto you40 7,mat4 #g3g47 ,in the ,scriptures we read3 8,concerning the works of my hands1 command ye me40 ,infinite ,intelligence1 ,god1 is ever ready to carry out man's smallest or greatest demands4 ,every desire1 uttered or unexpressed1 is a demand4 ,we are often startled by having a wish suddenly fulfilled4 ,for example3 ,one ,easter1 having seen many beautiful rose-trees in the florists' windows1 ,i wished ,i would receive one1 and for an instant saw it mentally being carried in the door4 ,easter came1 and with it a beautiful rose-tree4 ,i thanked my friend the following day1 and told her it was just what ,i had wanted4 ,she replied1 8,i didn't send you a rose-tree1 ,i sent you lilies60 ,the man had mixed the order1 and sent me a rose-tree simply because ,i had started the law in action1 and ,i had to have a rose-tree4 ,nothing stands between man and his highest ideals and every desire of his heart1 but doubt and fear4 ,when man can 8wish without worrying10 every desire will be instantly fulfilled4 ,i will explain more fully in a following chapter the scientific reason for this and how fear must be erased from the consciousness4 ,it is man's only enemy--fear of lack1 fear of failure1 fear of sickness1 fear of loss and a feeling of insecurity on some plane4 ,jesus ,christ said3 8,why are ye fearful1 oh ye of little faith80 7,mat4 #h3bf47 ,so we can see we must substitute faith for fear1 for fear is only inverted faith2 it is faith in evil instead of good4 ,the object of the game of life is to see clearly one's good and to obliterate all mental pictures of evil4 ,this must be done by impressing the subconscious mind with a realization of good4 ,a very brilliant man1 who has attained great success1 told me he had suddenly erased all fear from his consciousness by reading a sign which hung in a room4 ,he saw printed1 in large letters this statement--8,why worry1 it will probably never happen40 ,these words were stamped indelibly upon his subconscious mind1 and he has now a firm conviction that only good can come into his life1 therefore only good can manifest4 ,in the following chapter ,i will deal with the different methods of impressing the subconscious mind4 ,it is man's faithful servant but one must be careful to give it the right orders4 ,man has ever a silent listener at his side--his subconscious mind4 ,every thought1 every word is impressed upon it and carried out in amazing detail4 ,it is like a singer making a record on the sensitive disc of the phonographic plate4 ,every note and tone of the singer's voice is registered4 ,if he coughs or hesitates1 it is registered also4 ,so let us break all the old bad records in the subconscious mind1 the records of our lives which we do not wish to keep1 and make new and beautiful ones4 ,speak these words aloud1 with power and conviction3 8,i now smash and demolish 7by my spoken word7 every untrue record in my subconscious mind4 ,they shall return to the dust-heap of their native nothingness1 for they came from my own vain imaginings4 ,i now make my perfect records through the ,christ within--,the records of ,health1 ,wealth1 ,love and perfect self-,expression40 ,this is the square of life1 ,the ,game completed4 ,in the following chapters1 ,i will show how man can change his conditions by changing his words4 ,any man who does not know the power of the word1 is behind the times4 8,death and ,life are in the power of the tongue40 7,prov4 #ah3ba47 ,,the ,,law ,,of ,,prosperity 8,yea1 the ,almighty shall be thy defense and thou shalt have plenty of silver40 ,one of the greatest messages given to the race through the scriptures is that ,god is man's supply and that man can release1 through his spoken word1 all that belongs to him by divine right4 ,he must1 however1 have perfect faith in his spoken word4 ,isaiah said1 8,my word shall not return unto me void1 but shall accomplish that where unto it is sent40 ,we know now1 that words and thoughts are a tremendous vibratory force1 ever moulding man's body and affairs4 ,a woman came to me in great distress and said she was to be sued on the fifteenth of the month for three thousand dollars4 ,she knew no way of getting the money and was in despair4 ,i told her ,god was her supply1 and that there is a supply for every demand4 ,so ,i spoke the word6 ,i gave thanks that the woman would receive three thousand dollars at the right time in the right way4 ,i told her she must have perfect faith1 and act her perfect faith4 ,the fifteenth came but no money had materialized4 ,she called me on the 'phone and asked what she was to do4 ,i replied1 8,it is ,saturday1 so they won't sue you today4 ,your part is to act rich1 thereby showing perfect faith that you will receive it by ,monday40 ,she asked me to lunch with her to keep up her courage4 ,when ,i joined her at a restaurant1 ,i said1 8,this is no time to economize4 ,order an expensive luncheon1 act as if you have already received the three thousand dollars40 8,all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer1 believing1 ye shall receive40 8,you must act as if you had already received40 ,the next morning she called me on the 'phone and asked me to stay with her during the day4 ,i said 8,no1 you are divinely protected and ,god is never too late40 ,in the evening she 'phoned again1 greatly excited and said1 8,my dear1 a miracle has happened6 ,i was sitting in my room this morning1 when the doorbell rang4 ,i said to the maid3 #8,don't let anyone in4' ,the maid however1 looked out the window and said1 #8,it's your cousin with the long white beard4' ,so ,i said1 #8,call him back4 ,i would like to see him4' ,he was just turning the corner1 when he heard the maid's voice1 and he came back4 ,he talked for about an hour1 and just as he was leaving he said1 #8,oh1 by the way1 how are finances8' ,i told him ,i needed the money1 and he said1 #8,why1 my dear1 ,i will give you three thousand dollars the first of the month4' ,i didn't like to tell him ,i was going to be sued4 ,what shall ,i do8 ,i won't receive it till the first of the month1 and ,i must have it tomorrow40 ,i said1 8,i'll keep on #8treating4'0 ,i said1 8,spirit is never too late4 ,i give thanks she has received the money on the invisible plane and that it manifests on time40 ,the next morning her cousin called her up and said1 8,come to my office this morning and ,i will give you the money40 ,that afternoon1 she had three thousand dollars to her credit in the bank1 and wrote checks as rapidly as her excitement would permit4 ,if one asks for success and prepares for failure1 he will get the situation he has prepared for4 ,for example3 ,a man came to me asking me to speak the word that a certain debt would be wiped out4 ,i found he spent his time planning what he would say to the man when he did not pay his bill1 thereby neutralizing my words4 ,he should have seen himself paying the debt4 ,we have a wonderful illustration of this in the bible1 relating to the three kings who were in the desert1 without water for their men and horses4 ,they consulted the prophet ,elisha1 who gave them this astonishing message3 8,thus saith the ,lord--,ye shall not see wind1 neither shall ye see rain1 yet make this valley full of ditches40 ,man must prepare for the thing he has asked for1 when there isn't the slightest sign of it in sight4 ,for example3 ,a woman found it necessary to look for an apartment during the year when there was a great shortage of apartments in ,new ,york4 ,it was considered almost an impossibility1 and her friends were sorry for her and said1 8,isn't it too bad1 you'll have to store your furniture and live in a hotel40 ,she replied1 8,you needn't feel sorry for me1 ,i'm a superman1 and ,i'll get an apartment40 ,she spoke the words3 8,infinite ,spirit1 open the way for the right apartment40 ,she knew there was a supply for every demand1 and that she was 8unconditioned10 working on the spiritual plane1 and that 8one with ,god is a majority40 ,she had contemplated buying new blankets1 when 8the tempter10 the adverse thought or reasoning mind1 suggested1 8,don't buy the blankets1 perhaps1 after all1 you won't get an apartment and you will have no use for them40 ,she promptly replied 7to herself73 8,i'll dig my ditches by buying the blankets60 ,so she prepared for the apartment--acted as though she already had it4 ,she found one in a miraculous way1 and it was given to her although there were over two hundred other applicants4 ,the blankets showed active faith4 ,it is needless to say that the ditches dug by the three kings in the desert were filled to over-flowing4 7,read1 ,,ii ,kings47 ,getting into the spiritual swing of things is no easy matter for the average person4 ,the adverse thoughts of doubt and fear surge from the subconscious4 ,they are the 8army of the aliens0 which must be put to flight4 ,this explains why it is so often1 8darkest before the dawn40 ,a big demonstration is usually preceded by tormenting thoughts4 ,having made a statement of high spiritual truth one challenges the old beliefs in the subconscious1 and 8error is exposed0 to be put out4 ,this is the time when one must make his affirmations of truth repeatedly1 and rejoice and give thanks that he has already received4 8,before ye call ,i shall answer40 ,this means that 8every good and perfect gift0 is already man's awaiting his recognition4 ,man can only receive what he sees himself receiving4 ,the children of ,israel were told that they could have all the land they could see4 ,this is true of every man4 ,he has only the land within his own mental vision4 ,every great work1 every big accomplishment1 has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision1 and often just before the big achievement1 comes apparent failure and discouragement4 ,the children of ,israel when they reached the 8,promised ,land10 were afraid to go in1 for they said it was filled with giants who made them feel like grasshoppers4 8,and there we saw the giants and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers40 ,this is almost every man's experience4 ,however1 the one who knows spiritual law1 is undisturbed by appearance1 and rejoices while he is 8yet in captivity40 ,that is1 he holds to his vision and gives thanks that the end is accomplished1 he has received4 ,jesus ,christ gave a wonderful example of this4 ,he said to his disciples3 8,say not ye1 there are yet four months and then cometh the harvest8 ,behold1 ,i say unto you1 lift up your eyes and look on the fields2 for they are ripe already to harvest40 ,his clear vision pierced the 8world of matter0 and he saw clearly the fourth dimensional world1 things as they really are1 perfect and complete in ,divine ,mind4 ,so man must ever hold the vision of his journey's end and demand the manifestation of that which he has already received4 ,it may be his perfect health1 love1 supply1 self-expression1 home or friends4 ,they are all finished and perfect ideas registered in ,divine ,mind 7man's own superconscious mind7 and must come through him1 not to him4 ,for example3 ,a man came to me asking for treatments for success4 ,it was imperative that he raise1 within a certain time1 fifty-thousand dollars for his business4 ,the time limit was almost up1 when he came to me in despair4 ,no one wanted to invest in his enterprise1 and the bank had flatly refused a loan4 ,i replied3 8,i suppose you lost your temper while at the bank1 therefore your power4 ,you can control any situation if you first control yourself40 8,go back to the bank10 ,i added1 8and ,i will treat40 ,my treatment was3 8,you are identified in love with the spirit of everyone connected with the bank4 ,let the divine idea come out of this situation40 ,he replied1 8,woman1 you are talking about an impossibility4 ,tomorrow is ,saturday2 the bank closes at twelve1 and my train won't get me there until ten1 and the time limit is up tomorrow1 and anyway they won't do it4 ,it's too late40 ,i replied1 8,god doesn't need any time and is never too late4 ,with ,him all things are possible40 ,i added1 8,i don't know anything about business1 but ,i know all about ,god40 ,he replied3 8,it all sounds fine when ,i sit here listening to you1 but when ,i go out it's terrible40 ,he lived in a distant city1 and ,i did not hear from him for a week1 then came a letter4 ,it read3 8,you were right4 ,i raised the money1 and will never again doubt the truth of all that you told me40 ,i saw him a few weeks later1 and ,i said1 8,what happened8 ,you evidently had plenty of time1 after all40 ,he replied 8,my train was late1 and ,i got there just fifteen minutes to twelve4 ,i walked into the bank quietly and said1 #8,i have come for the loan1' and they gave it to me without a question40 ,it was the last fifteen minutes of the time allotted to him1 and ,infinite ,spirit was not too late4 ,in this instance the man could never have demonstrated alone4 ,he needed someone to help him hold to the vision4 ,this is what one man can do for another4 ,jesus ,christ knew the truth of this when he said3 8,if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask1 it shall be done for them of my ,father which is in heaven40 ,one gets too close to his own affairs and becomes doubtful and fearful4 ,the friend or 8healer0 sees clearly the success1 health1 or prosperity1 and never wavers1 because he is not close to the situation4 ,it is much easier to 8demonstrate0 for someone else than for one's self1 so a person should not hesitate to ask for help1 if he feels himself wavering4 ,a keen observer of life once said1 8no man can fail1 if some one person sees him successful40 ,such is the power of the vision1 and many a great man has owed his success to a wife1 or sister1 or a friend who 8believed in him0 and held without wavering to the perfect pattern6 ,,the ,,power ,,of ,,the ,,word 8,by thy words thou shalt be justified1 and by thy words thou shalt be condemned40 ,a person knowing the power of the word1 becomes very careful of his conversation4 ,he has only to watch the reaction of his words to know that they do 8not return void40 ,through his spoken word1 man is continually making laws for himself4 ,i knew a man who said1 8,i always miss a car4 ,it invariably pulls out just as ,i arrive40 ,his daughter said3 8,i always catch a car4 ,it's sure to come just as ,i get there40 ,this occurred for years4 ,each had made a separate law for himself1 one of failure1 one of success4 ,this is the psychology of superstitions4 ,the horseshoe or rabbit's foot contains no power1 but man's spoken word and belief that it will bring him good luck creates expectancy in the subconscious mind1 and attracts a 8lucky situation40 ,i find however1 this will not 8work0 when man has advanced spiritually and knows a higher law4 ,one cannot turn back1 and must put away 8graven images40 ,for example3 ,two men in my class had had great success in business for several months1 when suddenly everything 8went to smash40 ,we tried to analyze the situation1 and ,i found1 instead of making their affirmations and looking to ,god for success and prosperity1 they had each bought a 8lucky monkey40 ,i said3 8,oh ,i see1 you have been trusting in the lucky monkeys instead of ,god40 8,put away the lucky monkeys and call on the law of forgiveness10 for man has power to forgive or neutralize his mistakes4 ,they decided to throw the lucky monkeys down a coalhole1 and all went well again4 ,this does not mean1 however1 that one should throw away every 8lucky0 ornament or horseshoe about the house1 but he must recognize that the power back of it is the one and only power1 ,god1 and that the object simply gives him a feeling of expectancy4 ,i was with a friend1 one day1 who was in deep despair4 ,in crossing the street1 she picked up a horseshoe4 ,immediately1 she was filled with joy and hope4 ,she said ,god had sent her the horseshoe in order to keep up her courage4 ,it was indeed1 at that moment1 about the only thing that could have registered in her consciousness4 ,her hope became faith1 and she ultimately made a wonderful demonstration4 ,i wish to make the point clear that the men previously mentioned were depending on the monkeys1 alone1 while this woman recognized the power back of the horseshoe4 ,i know1 in my own case1 it took a long while to get out of a belief that a certain thing brought disappointment4 ,if the thing happened1 disappointment invariably followed4 ,i found the only way ,i could make a change in the subconscious1 was by asserting1 8,there are not two powers1 there is only one power1 ,god1 therefore1 there are no disappointments1 and this thing means a happy surprise40 ,i noticed a change at once1 and happy surprises commenced coming my way4 ,i have a friend who said nothing could induce her to walk under a ladder4 ,i said1 8,if you are afraid1 you are giving in to a belief in two powers1 ,good and ,evil1 instead of one4 ,as ,god is absolute1 there can be no opposing power1 unless man makes the false of evil for himself4 ,to show you believe in only ,one ,power1 ,god1 and that there is no power or reality in evil1 walk under the next ladder you see40 ,soon after1 she went to her bank4 ,she wished to open her box in the safe-deposit vault1 and there stood a ladder on her pathway4 ,it was impossible to reach the box without passing under the ladder4 ,she quailed with fear and turned back4 ,she could not face the lion on her pathway4 ,however1 when she reached the street1 my words rang in her ears and she decided to return and walk under it4 ,it was a big moment in her life1 for ladders had held her in bondage for years4 ,she retraced her steps to the vault1 and the ladder was no longer there6 ,this so often happens6 ,if one is willing to do a thing he is afraid to do1 he does not have to4 ,it is the law of nonresistance1 which is so little understood4 ,someone has said that courage contains genius and magic4 ,face a situation fearlessly1 and there is no situation to face2 it falls away of its own weight4 ,the explanation is1 that fear attracted the ladder on the woman's pathway1 and fearlessness removed it4 ,thus the invisible forces are ever working for man who is always 8pulling the strings0 himself1 though he does not know it4 ,owing to the vibratory power of words1 whatever man voices1 he begins to attract4 ,people who continually speak of disease1 invariably attract it4 ,after man knows the truth1 he cannot be too careful of his words4 ,for example3 ,i have a friend who often says on the 'phone1 8,do come to see me and have a fine old-fashioned chat40 ,this 8old-fashioned chat0 means an hour of about five hundred to a thousand destructive words1 the principal topics being loss1 lack1 failure and sickness4 ,i reply3 8,no1 ,i thank you1 ,i've had enough old-fashioned chats in my life1 they are too expensive1 but ,i will be glad to have a new-fashioned chat1 and talk about what we want1 not what we don't want40 ,there is an old saying that man only dares use his words for three purposes1 to 8heal1 bless or prosper40 ,what man says of others will be said of him1 and what he wishes for another1 he is wishing for himself4 8,curses1 like chickens1 come home to roost40 ,if a man wishes someone 8bad luck10 he is sure to attract bad luck himself4 ,if he wishes to aid someone to success1 he is wishing and aiding himself to success4 ,the body may be renewed and transformed through the spoken word and clear vision1 and disease be completely wiped out of the consciousness4 ,the metaphysician knows that all disease has a mental correspondence1 and in order to heal the body one must first 8heal the soul40 ,the soul is the subconscious mind1 and it must be 8saved0 from wrong thinking4 ,in the twenty-third psalm1 we read3 8,he restoreth my soul40 ,this means that the subconscious mind or soul1 must be restored with the right ideas1 and the 8mystical marriage0 is the marriage of the soul and the spirit1 or the subconscious and superconscious mind4 ,they must be one4 ,when the subconscious is flooded with the perfect ideas of the superconscious1 ,god and man are one4 8,i and the ,father are one40 ,that is1 he is one with the realm of perfect ideas2 he is the man made in ,god's likeness and image 7imagination7 and is given power and dominion over all created things1 his mind1 body and affairs4 ,it is safe to say that all sickness and unhappiness come from the violation of the law of love4 ,a new commandment ,i give unto you1 8,love one another10 and in the ,game of ,life1 love or good-will takes every trick4 ,for example3 ,a woman ,i know1 had1 for years an appearance of a terrible skin disease4 ,the doctors told her it was incurable1 and she was in despair4 ,she was on the stage1 and she feared she would soon have to give up her profession1 and she had no other means of support4 ,she1 however1 procured a good engagement1 and on the opening night1 made a great 8hit40 ,she received flattering notices from the critics1 and was joyful and elated4 ,the next day she received a notice of dismissal4 ,a man in the cast had been jealous of her success and had caused her to be sent away4 ,she felt hatred and resentment taking complete possession of her1 and she cried out1 8,oh ,god don't let me hate that man40 ,that night she worked for hours 8in the silence40 ,she said1 8,i soon came into a very deep silence4 ,i seemed to be at peace with myself1 with the man1 and with the whole world4 ,i continued this for two following nights1 and on the third day ,i found ,i was healed completely of the skin disease60 ,in asking for love1 or good will1 she had fulfilled the law1 78for love is the fulfilling of the law07 and the disease 7which came from subconscious resentment7 was wiped out4 ,continual criticism produces rheumatism1 as critical1 inharmonious thoughts cause unnatural deposits in the blood1 which settle in the joints4 ,false growths are caused by jealousy1 hatred1 unforgiveness1 fear1 etc4 ,every disease is caused by a mind not at ease4 ,i said once1 in my class1 8,there is no use asking anyone #8,what's the matter with you8' we might just as well say1 #8,who's the matter with you8'0 ,unforgiveness is the most prolific cause of disease4 ,it will harden arteries or liver1 and affect the eye-sight4 ,in its train are endless ills4 ,i called on a woman1 one day1 who said she was ill from having eaten a poisoned oyster4 ,i replied1 8,oh1 no1 the oyster was harmless1 you poisoned the oyster4 ,what's the matter with you80 ,she answered1 8,oh about nineteen people40 ,she had quarrelled with nineteen people and had become so inharmonious that she attracted the wrong oyster4 ,any inharmony on the external1 indicates there is mental inharmony4 8,as the within1 so the without40 ,man's only enemies are within himself4 8,and a man's foes shall be they of his own household40 ,personality is one of the last enemies to be overcome1 as this planet is taking its initiation in love4 ,it was ,christ's message--8,peace on ,earth1 good will towards man40 ,the enlightened man1 therefore1 endeavors to perfect himself upon his neighbor4 ,his work is with himself1 to send out good-will and blessings to every man1 and the marvelous thing is1 that if one blesses a man he has no power to harm him4 ,for example3 ,a man came to me asking to 8treat0 for success in business4 ,he was selling machinery1 and a rival appeared on the scene with what he proclaimed1 was a better machine1 and my friend feared defeat4 ,i said1 8,first of all1 we must wipe out all fear1 and know that ,god protects your interests1 and that the divine idea must come out of the situation4 ,that is1 the right machine will be sold1 by the right man1 to the right man40 ,and ,i added1 8,don't hold one critical thought towards that man4 ,bless him all day1 and be willing not to sell your machine1 if it isn't the divine idea40 ,so he went to the meeting1 fearless and nonresistant1 and blessing the other man4 ,he said the outcome was very remarkable4 ,the other man's machine refused to work1 and he sold his without the slightest difficulty4 8,but ,i say unto you1 love your enemies1 bless them that curse you1 do good to them that hate you1 and pray for them which spitefully use you and persecute you40 ,good-will produces a great aura of protection about the one who sends it1 and 8,no weapon that is formed against him shall prosper40 ,in other words1 love and good-will destroy the enemies within one's self1 therefore1 one has no enemies on the external6 8,there is peace on earth for him who sends good-will to man60 ,,the ,,law ,,of ,,nonresistance 8,resist not evil4 ,be not overcome of evil1 but overcome evil with good40 ,nothing on earth can resist an absolutely nonresistant person4 ,the ,chinese say that water is the most powerful element1 because it is perfectly nonresistant4 ,it can wear away a rock1 and sweep all before it4 ,jesus ,christ said1 8,resist not evil10 for ,he knew in reality1 there is no evil1 therefore nothing to resist4 ,evil has come of man's 8vain imagination10 or a belief in two powers1 good and evil4 ,there is an old legend1 that ,adam and ,eve ate of 8,maya the ,tree of ,illusion10 and saw two powers instead of one power1 ,god4 ,therefore1 evil is a false law man has made for himself1 through psychoma or soul sleep4 ,soul sleep means1 that man's soul has been hypnotized by the race belief 7of sin1 sickness and death1 etc47 which is carnal or mortal thought1 and his affairs have outpictured his illusions4 ,we have read in a preceding chapter1 that man's soul is his subconscious mind1 and whatever he feels deeply1 good or bad1 is outpictured by that faithful servant4 ,his body and affairs show forth what he has been picturing4 ,the sick man has pictured sickness1 the poor man1 poverty1 the rich man1 wealth4 ,people often say1 8why does a little child attract illness1 when it is too young even to know what it means80 ,i answer that children are sensitive and receptive to the thoughts of others about them1 and often outpicture the fears of their parents4 ,i heard a metaphysician once say1 8,if you do not run your subconscious mind yourself1 someone else will run it for you40 ,mothers often1 unconsciously1 attract illness and disaster to their children1 by continually holding them in thoughts of fear1 and watching for symptoms4 ,for example3 ,a friend asked a woman if her little girl had had the measles4 ,she replied promptly1 8not yet60 ,this implied that she was expecting the illness1 and1 therefore1 preparing the way for what she did not want for herself and child4 ,however1 the man who is centered and established in right thinking1 the man who sends out only good-will to his fellow-man1 and who is without fear1 cannot be touched or influenced by the negative thoughts of others4 ,in fact1 he could then receive only good thoughts1 as he himself1 sends forth only good thoughts4 ,resistance is ,hell1 for it places man in a 8state of torment40 ,a metaphysician once gave me a wonderful recipe for taking every trick in the game of life1 it is the acme of nonresistance4 ,he gave it in this way2 8,at one time in my life1 ,i baptized children1 and of course1 they had many names4 ,now ,i no longer baptize children1 but ,i baptize events1 but ,i give every event the same name4 ,if ,i have a failure ,i baptize it success1 in the name of the ,father1 and of the ,son1 and of the ,holy ,ghost60 ,in this1 we see the great law of transmutation1 founded on nonresistance4 ,through his spoken word1 every failure was transmuted into success4 ,for example3 ,a woman who required money1 and who knew the spiritual law of opulence1 was thrown continually in a business-way1 with a man who made her feel very poor4 ,he talked lack and limitation and she commenced to catch his poverty thoughts1 so she disliked him1 and blamed him for her failure4 ,she knew in order to demonstrate her supply1 she must first feel that she had received--a feeling of opulence must precede its manifestation4 ,it dawned upon her1 one day1 that she was resisting the situation1 and seeing two powers instead of one4 ,so she blessed the man and baptized the situation 8,success06 ,she affirmed1 8,as there is only one power1 ,god1 this man is here for my good and my prosperity0 7just what he did not seem to be there for74 ,soon after that she met1 through this man1 a woman who gave her for a service rendered1 several thousand dollars1 and the man moved to a distant city1 and faded harmoniously from her life4 ,make the statement1 8,every man is a golden link in the chain of my good10 for all men are ,god in manifestation1 awaiting the opportunity given by man1 himself1 to serve the divine plan of his life4 8,bless your enemy1 and you rob him of his ammunition40 ,his arrows will be transmuted into blessings4 ,this law is true of nations as well as individuals4 ,bless a nation1 send love and good-will to every inhabitant1 and it is robbed of its power to harm4 ,man can only get the right idea of nonresistance1 through spiritual understanding4 ,my students have often said3 8,i don't want to be a door-mat40 ,i reply 8when you use nonresistance with wisdom1 no one will ever be able to walk over you40 ,another example3 ,one day ,i was impatiently awaiting an important telephone call4 ,i resisted every call that came in and made no out-going calls myself1 reasoning that it might interfere with the one ,i was awaiting4 ,instead of saying1 8,divine ideas never conflict1 the call will come at the right time10 leaving it to ,infinite ,intelligence to arrange1 ,i commenced to manage things myself--,i made the battle mine1 not ,god's and remained tense and anxious4 ,the bell did not ring for about an hour1 and ,i glanced at the 'phone and found the receiver had been off that length of time1 and the 'phone was disconnected4 ,my anxiety1 fear and belief in interference1 had brought on a total eclipse of the telephone4 ,realizing what ,i had done1 ,i commenced blessing the situation at once2 ,i baptized it 8success10 and affirmed1 8,i cannot lose any call that belongs to me by divine right2 ,i am under grace1 and not under law40 ,a friend rushed out to the nearest telephone1 to notify the ,company to reconnect4 ,she entered a crowded grocery1 but the proprietor left his customers and attended to the call himself4 ,my 'phone was connected at once1 and two minutes later1 ,i received a very important call1 and about an hour afterward1 the one ,i had been awaiting4 ,one's ships come in over a calm sea4 ,so long as man resists a situation1 he will have it with him4 ,if he runs away from it1 it will run after him4 ,for example3 ,i repeated this to a woman one day1 and she replied1 8,how true that is6 ,i was unhappy at home1 ,i disliked my mother1 who was critical and domineering2 so ,i ran away and was married--but ,i married my mother1 for my husband was exactly like my mother1 and ,i had the same situation to face again40 8,agree with thine adversary quickly40 ,that means1 agree that the adverse situation is good1 be undisturbed by it1 and it falls away of its own weight4 8,none of these things move me10 is a wonderful affirmation4 ,the inharmonious situation comes from some inharmony within man himself4 ,when there is1 in him1 no emotional response to an inharmonious situation1 it fades away forever1 from his pathway4 ,so we see man's work is ever with himself4 ,people have said to me1 8,give treatments to change my husband1 or my brother40 ,i reply1 8,no1 ,i will give treatments to change you2 when you change1 your husband and your brother will change40 ,one of my students was in the habit of lying4 ,i told her it was a failure method and if she lied1 she would be lied to4 ,she replied1 8,i don't care1 ,i can't possibly get along without lying40 ,one day she was speaking on the 'phone to a man with whom she was very much in love4 ,she turned to me and said1 8,i don't trust him1 ,i know he's lying to me40 ,i replied1 8,well1 you lie yourself1 so someone has to lie to you1 and you will be sure it will be just the person you want the truth from40 ,some time after that1 ,i saw her1 and she said1 8,i'm cured of lying40 ,i questioned3 8,what cured you80 ,she replied3 8,i have been living with a woman who lied worse than ,i did60 ,one is often cured of his faults by seeing them in others4 ,life is a mirror1 and we find only ourselves reflected in our associates4 ,living in the past is a failure method and a violation of spiritual law4 ,jesus ,christ said1 8,behold1 now is the accepted time40 8,now is the day of ,salvation40 ,lot's wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt4 ,the robbers of time are the past and the future4 ,man should bless the past1 and forget it1 if it keeps him in bondage1 and bless the future1 knowing it has in store for him endless joys1 but live fully in the now4 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me1 complaining that she had no money with which to buy ,christmas gifts4 ,she said1 8,last year was so different2 ,i had plenty of money and gave lovely presents1 and this year ,i have scarcely a cent40 ,i replied1 8,you will never demonstrate money while you are pathetic and live in the past4 ,live fully in the now1 and get ready to give ,christmas presents4 ,dig your ditches1 and the money will come40 ,she exclaimed1 8,i know what to do6 ,i will buy some tinsel twine1 ,christmas seals and wrapping paper40 ,i replied1 8,do that1 and the presents will come and stick themselves to the ,christmas seals40 ,this too1 was showing financial fearlessness and faith in ,god1 as the reasoning mind said1 8,keep every cent you have1 as you are not sure you will get any more40 ,she bought the seals1 paper and twine1 and a few days before ,christmas1 received a gift of several hundred dollars4 ,buying the seals and twine had impressed the subconscious with expectancy1 and opened the way for the manifestation of the money4 ,she purchased all the presents in plenty of time4 ,man must live suspended in the moment4 8,look well1 therefore1 to this ,day6 ,such is the salutation of the ,dawn40 ,he must be spiritually alert1 ever awaiting his leads1 taking advantage of every opportunity4 ,one day1 ,i said continually 7silently71 8,infinite ,spirit1 don't let me miss a trick10 and something very important was told to me that evening4 ,it is most necessary to begin the day with right words4 ,make an affirmation immediately upon waking4 ,for example3 8,thy will be done this day6 ,today is a day of completion2 ,i give thanks for this perfect day1 miracle shall follow miracle and wonders shall never cease40 ,make this a habit1 and one will see wonders and miracles come into his life4 ,one morning ,i picked up a book and read1 8,look with wonder at that which is before you60 ,it seemed to be my message for the day1 so ,i repeated again and again1 8,look with wonder at that which is before you40 ,at about noon1 a large sum of money1 was given me1 which ,i had been desiring for a certain purpose4 ,in a following chapter1 ,i will give affirmations that ,i have found most effective4 ,however1 one should never use an affirmation unless it is absolutely satisfying and convincing to his own consciousness1 and often an affirmative is changed to suit different people4 ,for example3 ,the following has brought success to many3 8,i have a wonderful work1 in a wonderful way1 ,i give wonderful service1 for wonderful pay60 ,i gave the first two lines to one of my students1 and she added the last two4 ,it made a most powerful statement1 as there should always be perfect payment for perfect service1 and a rhyme sinks easily into the subconscious4 ,she went about singing it aloud and soon did receive wonderful work in a wonderful way1 and gave wonderful service for wonderful pay4 ,another student1 a business man1 took it1 and changed the word work to business4 ,he repeated1 8,i have a wonderful business1 in a wonderful way1 and ,i give wonderful service for wonderful pay40 ,that afternoon he made a forty-one-thousand dollar deal1 though there had been no activity in his affairs for months4 ,every affirmation must be carefully worded and completely 8cover the ground40 ,for example3 ,i knew a woman1 who was in great need1 and made a demand for work4 ,she received a great deal of work1 but was never paid anything4 ,she now knows to add1 8wonderful service for wonderful pay40 ,it is man's divine right to have plenty6 ,more than enough6 8,his barns should be full1 and his cup should flow over60 ,this is ,god's idea for man1 and when man breaks down the barriers of lack in his own consciousness1 the ,golden ,age will be his1 and every righteous desire of his heart fulfilled6 ,,the ,,law ,,of ,,karma and ,,the ,,law ,,of ,,forgiveness ,man receives only that which he gives4 ,the ,game of ,life is a game of boomerangs4 ,man's thoughts1 deeds and words1 return to him sooner or later1 with astounding accuracy4 ,this is the law of ,karma1 which is ,sanskrit for 8,comeback40 8,whatsoever a man soweth1 that shall he also reap40 ,for example3 ,a friend told me this story of herself1 illustrating the law4 ,she said1 8,i make all my ,karma on my aunt1 whatever ,i say to her1 some one says to me4 ,i am often irritable at home1 and one day1 said to my aunt1 who was talking to me during dinner4 #8,no more talk1 ,i wish to eat in peace4'0 8,the following day1 ,i was lunching with a woman with whom ,i wished to make a great impression4 ,i was talking animatedly1 when she said3 #8,no more talk1 ,i wish to eat in peace6'0 ,my friend is high in consciousness1 so her ,karma returns much more quickly than to one on the mental plane4 ,the more man knows1 the more he is responsible for1 and a person with a knowledge of ,spiritual ,law1 which he does not practice1 suffers greatly1 in consequence4 8,the fear of the ,lord 7law7 is the beginning of wisdom40 ,if we read the word ,lord1 law1 it will make many passages in the ,bible much clearer4 8,vengeance is mine1 ,i will repay1 saith the ,lord0 7law74 ,it is the law which takes vengeance1 not ,god4 ,god sees man perfect1 8created in his own image10 7imagination7 and given 8power and dominion40 ,this is the perfect idea of man1 registered in ,divine ,mind1 awaiting man's recognition2 for man can only be what he sees himself to be1 and only attain what he sees himself attaining4 8,nothing ever happens without an on-looker0 is an ancient saying4 ,man sees first his failure or success1 his joy or sorrow1 before it swings into visibility from the scenes set in his own imagination4 ,we have observed this in the mother picturing disease for her child1 or a woman seeing success for her husband4 ,jesus ,christ said1 8,and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free40 ,so1 we see freedom 7from all unhappy conditions7 comes through knowledge--a knowledge of ,spiritual ,law4 ,obedience precedes authority1 and the law obeys man when he obeys the law4 ,the law of electricity must be obeyed before it becomes man's servant4 ,when handled ignorantly1 it becomes man's deadly foe4 ,so with the laws of ,mind6 ,for example3 ,a woman with a strong personal will1 wished she owned a house which belonged to an acquaintance1 and she often made mental pictures of herself living in the house4 ,in the course of time1 the man died and she moved into the house4 ,several years afterwards1 coming into the knowledge of ,spiritual ,law1 she said to me3 8,do you think ,i had anything to do with that man's death80 ,i replied3 8,yes1 your desire was so strong1 everything made way for it1 but you paid your ,karmic debt4 ,your husband1 whom you loved devotedly1 died soon after1 and the house was a white elephant on your hands for years40 ,the original owner1 however1 could not have been affected by her thoughts had he been positive in the truth1 nor her husband1 but they were both under ,karmic law4 ,the woman should have said 7feeling the great desire for the house71 8,infinite ,intelligence1 give me the right house1 equally as charming as this1 the house which is mine by divine right40 ,the divine selection would have given perfect satisfaction and brought good to all4 ,the divine pattern is the only safe pattern to work by4 ,desire is a tremendous force1 and must be directed in the right channels2 or chaos ensues4 ,in demonstrating1 the most important step is the first step1 to 8ask aright40 ,man should always demand only that which is his by divine right4 ,to go back to the illustration3 ,had the woman taken this attitude3 8,if this house1 ,i desire1 is mine1 ,i cannot lose it1 if it is not1 give me its equivalent10 the man might have decided to move out1 harmoniously 7had it been the divine selection for her7 or another house would have been substituted4 ,anything forced into manifestation through personal will1 is always 8ill-got10 and has 8ever bad success40 ,man is admonished1 8,my will be done not thine1 and the curious thing is1 man always gets just what he desires when he does relinquish personal will1 thereby enabling ,infinite ,intelligence to work through him40 8,stand ye still and see the salvation of the ,lord0 7law74 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me in great distress4 ,her daughter had determined to take a very hazardous trip1 and the mother was filled with fear4 ,she said she had used every argument1 had pointed out the dangers to be encountered1 and forbidden her to go1 but the daughter became more and more rebellious and determined4 ,i said to the mother1 8,you are forcing your personal will upon your daughter1 which you have no right to do1 and your fear of the trip is only attracting it1 for man attracts what he fears40 ,i added1 8,let go1 and take your mental hands off2 put it in ,god's ,hands1 and use this statement30 8,i put this situation in the hands of ,infinite ,love and ,wisdom2 if this trip is the ,divine plan1 ,i bless it and no longer resist1 but if it is not divinely planned1 ,i give thanks that it is now dissolved and dissipated40 ,a day or two after that1 her daughter said to her1 8,mother1 ,i have given up the trip10 and the situation returned to its 8native nothingness40 ,it is learning to 8stand still10 which seems so difficult for man4 ,i have dealt more fully with this law in the chapter on nonresistance4 ,i will give another example of sowing and reaping1 which came in the most curious way4 ,a woman came to me saying1 she had received a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill1 given to her at the bank4 ,she was much disturbed1 for1 she said1 8,the people at the bank will never acknowledge their mistake40 ,i replied1 8,let us analyze the situation and find out why you attracted it40 ,she thought a few moments and exclaimed3 8,i know it1 ,i sent a friend a lot of stagemoney1 just for a joke40 ,so the law had sent her some stagemoney1 for it doesn't know anything about jokes4 ,i said1 8,now we will call on the law of forgiveness1 and neutralize the situation40 ,christianity is founded upon the law of forgiveness--,christ has redeemed us from the curse of the ,karmic law1 and the ,christ within each man is his ,redeemer and ,salvation from all inharmonious conditions4 ,so ,i said3 8,infinite ,spirit1 we call on the law of forgiveness and give thanks that she is under grace and not under law1 and cannot lose this twenty dollars which is hers by divine right40 8,now10 ,i said1 8,go back to the bank and tell them1 fearlessly1 that it was given you1 there by mistake40 ,she obeyed1 and to her surprise1 they apologized and gave her another bill1 treating her most courteously4 ,so knowledge of the ,law gives man power to 8rub out his mistakes40 ,man cannot force the external to be what he is not4 ,if he desires riches1 he must be rich first in consciousness4 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me asking treatment for prosperity4 ,she did not take much interest in her household affairs1 and her home was in great disorder4 ,i said to her1 8,if you wish to be rich1 you must be orderly4 ,all men with great wealth are orderly--and order is heaven's first law40 ,i added1 8,you will never become rich with a burnt match in the pincushion40 ,she had a good sense of humor and commenced immediately1 putting her house in order4 ,she rearranged furniture1 straightened out bureau drawers1 cleaned rugs1 and soon made a big financial demonstration--a gift from a relative4 ,the woman1 herself1 became made over1 and keeps herself keyed-up financially1 by being ever watchful of the external and expecting prosperity1 knowing ,god is her supply4 ,many people are in ignorance of the fact that gifts and things are investments1 and that hoarding and saving invariably lead to loss4 8,there is that scattereth and yet increaseth2 and there is that withholdeth more than is meet1 but it tendeth to poverty40 ,for example3 ,i knew a man who wanted to buy a fur-lined overcoat4 ,he and his wife went to various shops1 but there was none he wanted4 ,he said they were all too cheap-looking4 ,at last1 he was shown one1 the salesman said was valued at a thousand dollars1 but which the manager would sell him for five-hundred dollars1 as it was late in the season4 ,his financial possessions amounted to about seven hundred dollars4 ,the reasoning mind would have said1 8,you can't afford to spend nearly all you have on a coat10 but he was very intuitive and never reasoned4 ,he turned to his wife and said1 8,if ,i get this coat1 ,i'll make a ton of money60 ,so his wife consented1 weakly4 ,about a month later1 he received a ten-thousand-dollar commission4 ,the coat made him feel so rich1 it linked him with success and prosperity2 without the coat1 he would not have received the commission4 ,it was an investment paying large dividends6 ,if man ignores these leadings to spend or to give1 the same amount of money will go in an uninteresting or unhappy way4 ,for example3 ,a woman told me1 on ,thanksgiving ,day1 she informed her family that they could not afford a ,thanksgiving dinner4 ,she had the money1 but decided to save it4 ,a few days later1 someone entered her room and took from the bureau drawer the exact amount the dinner would have cost4 ,the law always stands back of the man who spends fearlessly1 with wisdom4 ,for example3 ,one of my students was shopping with her little nephew4 ,the child clamored for a toy1 which she told him she could not afford to buy4 ,she realized suddenly that she was seeking lack1 and not recognizing ,god as her supply6 ,so she bought the toy1 and on her way home1 picked up1 in the street1 the exact amount of money she had paid for it4 ,man's supply is inexhaustible and unfailing when fully trusted1 but faith or trust must precede the demonstration4 8,according to your faith be it unto you40 8,faith is the substance of things hoped for1 the evidence of things not seen--0 for faith holds the vision steady1 and the adverse pictures are dissolved and dissipated1 and 8in due season we shall reap1 if we faint not40 ,jesus ,christ brought the good news 7the gospel7 that there was a higher law than the law of ,karma--and that that law transcends the law of ,karma4 ,it is the law of grace1 or forgiveness4 ,it is the law which frees man from the law of cause and effect--the law of consequence4 8,under grace1 and not under law40 ,we are told that on this plane1 man reaps where he has not sown2 the gifts of ,god are simply poured out upon him4 8,all that the ,kingdom affords is his40 ,this continued state of bliss awaits the man who has overcome the race 7or world7 thought4 ,in the world thought there is tribulation1 but ,jesus ,christ said3 8,be of good cheer2 ,i have overcome the world40 ,the world thought is that of sin1 sickness and death4 ,he saw their absolute unreality and said sickness and sorrow shall pass away and death itself1 the last enemy1 be overcome4 ,we know now1 from a scientific standpoint1 that death could be overcome by stamping the subconscious mind with the conviction of eternal youth and eternal life4 ,the subconscious1 being simply power without direction1 carries out orders without questioning4 ,working under the direction of the superconscious 7the ,christ or ,god within man7 the 8resurrection of the body0 would be accomplished4 ,man would no longer throw off his body in death1 it would be transformed into the 8body electric10 sung by ,walt ,whitman1 for ,christianity is founded upon the forgiveness of sins and 8an empty tomb40 ,,casting ,,the ,,burden ,impressing the ,subconscious ,when man knows his own powers and the workings of his mind1 his great desire is to find an easy and quick way to impress the subconscious with good1 for simply an intellectual knowledge of the ,truth will not bring results4 ,in my own case1 ,i found the easiest way is in 8casting the burden40 ,a metaphysician once explained it in this manner4 ,he said1 8,the only thing which gives anything weight in nature1 is the law of gravitation1 and if a boulder could be taken high above the planet1 there would be no weight in that boulder2 and that is what ,jesus ,christ meant when he said3 #8,my yoke is easy and my burden is light4'0 ,he had overcome the world vibration1 and functioned in the fourth dimensional realm1 where there is only perfection1 completion1 life and joy4 ,he said3 8,come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden1 and ,i will give you rest40 8,take my yoke upon you1 for my yoke is easy and my burden is light40 ,we are also told in the fifty-fifth ,psalm1 to 8cast thy burden upon the ,lord40 ,many passages in the ,bible state that the battle is ,god's not man's and that man is always to 8stand still0 and see the ,salvation of the ,lord4 ,this indicates that the superconscious mind 7or ,christ within7 is the department which fights man's battle and relieves him of burdens4 ,we see1 therefore1 that man violates law if he carries a burden1 and a burden is an adverse thought or condition1 and this thought or condition has its root in the subconscious4 ,it seems almost impossible to make any headway directing the subconscious from the conscious1 or reasoning mind1 as the reasoning mind 7the intellect7 is limited in its conceptions1 and filled with doubts and fears4 ,how scientific it then is1 to cast the burden upon the superconscious mind 7or ,christ within7 where it is 8made light10 or dissolved into its 8native nothingness40 ,for example3 ,a woman in urgent need of money1 8made light0 upon the ,christ within1 the superconscious1 with the statement1 8,i cast this burden of lack on the ,christ 7within7 and ,i go free to have plenty60 ,the belief in lack was her burden1 and as she cast it upon the ,superconscious with its belief of plenty1 an avalanche of supply was the result4 ,we read1 8,the ,christ in you the hope of glory40 ,another example3 ,one of my students had been given a new piano1 and there was no room in her studio for it until she had moved out the old one4 ,she was in a state of perplexity4 ,she wanted to keep the old piano1 but knew of no place to send it4 ,she became desperate1 as the new piano was to be sent immediately2 in fact1 was on its way1 with no place to put it4 ,she said it came to her to repeat1 8,i cast this burden on the ,christ within1 and ,i go free40 ,a few moments later1 her 'phone rang1 and a woman friend asked if she might rent her old piano1 and it was moved out1 a few minutes before the new one arrived4 ,i knew a woman1 whose burden was resentment4 ,she said1 8,i cast this burden of resentment on the ,christ within1 and ,i go free1 to be loving1 harmonious and happy40 ,the ,almighty superconscious1 flooded the subconscious with love1 and her whole life was changed4 ,for years1 resentment had held her in a state of torment and imprisoned her soul 7the subconscious mind74 ,the statement should be made over and over and over1 sometimes for hours at a time1 silently or audibly1 with quietness but determination4 ,i have often compared it to winding-up a victrola4 ,we must wind ourselves up with spoken words4 ,i have noticed1 in 8casting the burden10 after a little while1 one seems to see clearly4 ,it is impossible to have clear vision1 while in the throes of carnal mind4 ,doubts and fear poison the mind and body and imagination runs riot1 attracting disaster and disease4 ,in steadily repeating the affirmation1 8,i cast this burden on the ,christ within1 and go free10 the vision clears1 and with it a feeling of relief1 and sooner or later comes the manifestation of good1 be it health1 happiness or supply4 ,one of my students once asked me to explain the 8darkness before the dawn40 ,i referred in a preceding chapter to the fact that often1 before the big demonstration 8everything seems to go wrong10 and deep depression clouds the consciousness4 ,it means that out of the subconscious are rising the doubts and fears of the ages4 ,these old derelicts of the subconscious rise to the surface1 to be put out4 ,it is then1 that man should clap his cymbals1 like ,jehoshaphat1 and give thanks that he is saved1 even though he seems surrounded by the enemy 7the situation of lack or disease74 ,the student continued1 8,how long must one remain in the dark0 and ,i replied1 8until one can see in the dark10 and 8casting the burden enables one to see in the dark40 ,in order to impress the subconscious1 active faith is always essential4 8,faith without works is dead40 ,in these chapters ,i have endeavored to bring out this point4 ,jesus ,christ showed active faith when 8,he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground10 before he gave thanks for the loaves and the fishes4 ,i will give another example showing how necessary this step is4 ,in fact1 active faith is the bridge1 over which man passes to his ,promised ,land4 ,through misunderstanding1 a woman had been separated from her husband1 whom she loved deeply4 ,he refused all offers of reconciliation and would not communicate with her in any way4 ,coming into the knowledge of ,spiritual law1 she denied the appearance of separation4 ,she made this statement3 8,there is no separation in ,divine ,mind1 therefore1 ,i cannot be separated from the love and companionship which are mine by divine right40 ,she showed active faith by arranging a place for him at the table every day2 thereby impressing the subconscious with a picture of his return4 ,over a year passed1 but she never wavered1 and one day he walked in4 ,the subconscious is often impressed through music4 ,music has a fourth dimensional quality and releases the soul from imprisonment4 ,it makes wonderful things seem possible1 and easy of accomplishment6 ,i have a friend who uses her victrola1 daily1 for this purpose4 ,it puts her in perfect harmony and releases the imagination4 ,another woman often dances while making her affirmations4 ,the rhythm and harmony of music and motion carry her words forth with tremendous power4 ,the student must remember also1 not to despise the 8day of small things40 ,invariably1 before a demonstration1 come 8signs of land40 ,before ,columbus reached ,america1 he saw birds and twigs which showed him land was near4 ,so it is with a demonstration2 but often the student mistakes it for the demonstration itself1 and is disappointed4 ,for example3 ,a woman had 8spoken the word0 for a set of dishes4 ,not long afterwards a friend gave her a dish which was old and cracked4 ,she came to me and said1 8,well1 ,i asked for a set of dishes1 and all ,i got was a cracked plate40 ,i replied1 8,the plate was only signs of land4 ,it shows your dishes are coming--look upon it as birds and seaweed10 and not long afterwards the dishes came4 ,continually 8making-believe10 impresses the subconscious4 ,if one makes believe he is rich1 and makes believe he is successful1 in 8due time he will reap40 ,children are always 8making believe10 and 8except ye be converted1 and become as little children1 ye shall not enter the ,kingdom of ,heaven40 ,for example3 ,i know of a woman who was very poor1 but no one could make her feel poor4 ,she earned a small amount of money from rich friends1 who constantly reminded her of her poverty1 and to be careful and saving4 ,regardless of their admonitions1 she would spend all her earnings on a hat1 or make someone a gift1 and be in a rapturous state of mind4 ,her thoughts were always centered on beautiful clothes and 8rings and things10 but without envying others4 ,she lived in the world of the wondrous1 and only riches seemed real to her4 ,before long she married a rich man1 and the rings and things became visible4 ,i do not know whether the man was the 8,divine ,selection10 but opulence had to manifest in her life1 as she had imaged only opulence4 ,there is no peace or happiness for man1 until he has erased all fear from the subconscious4 ,fear is misdirected energy and must be redirected1 or transmuted into ,faith4 ,jesus ,christ said1 8,why are ye fearful1 ,o ye of little faith80 8,all things are possible to him that believeth40 ,i am asked1 so often by my students1 8,how can ,i get rid of fear80 ,i reply1 8,by walking up to the thing you are afraid of40 8,the lion takes its fierceness from your fear40 ,walk up to the lion1 and he will disappear2 run away and he runs after you4 ,i have shown in previous chapters1 how the lion of lack disappeared when the individual spent money fearlessly1 showing faith that ,god was his supply and therefore1 unfailing4 ,many of my students have come out of the bondage of poverty1 and are now bountifully supplied1 through losing all fear of letting money go out4 ,the subconscious is impressed with the truth that ,god is the ,giver and the ,gift2 therefore as one is one with the ,giver1 he is one with the ,gift4 ,a splendid statement is1 8,i now thank ,god the ,giver for ,god the ,gift40 ,man has so long separated himself from his good and his supply1 through thoughts of separation and lack1 that sometimes1 it takes dynamite to dislodge these false ideas from the subconscious1 and the dynamite is a big situation4 ,we see in the foregoing illustration1 how the individual was freed from his bondage by showing fearlessness4 ,man should watch himself hourly to detect if his motive for action is fear or faith4 8,choose ye this day whom we shall serve10 fear or faith4 ,perhaps one's fear is of personality4 ,then do not avoid the people feared2 be willing to meet them cheerfully1 and they will either prove 8golden links in the chain of one's good10 or disappear harmoniously from one's pathway4 ,perhaps one's fear is of disease or germs4 ,then one should be fearless and undisturbed in a germ-laden situation1 and he would be immune4 ,one can only contract germs while vibrating at the same rate as the germ1 and fear drags men down to the level of the germ4 ,of course1 the disease laden germ is the product of carnal mind1 as all thought must objectify4 ,germs do not exist in the superconscious or ,divine ,mind1 therefore are the product of man's 8vain imagination40 8,in the twinkling of an eye10 man's release will come when he realizes there is no power in evil4 ,the material world will fade away1 and the fourth dimensional world1 the 8,world of the ,wondrous10 will swing into manifestation4 8,and ,i saw a new heaven1 and a new earth--and there shall be no more death1 neither sorrow nor crying1 neither shall there be any more pain2 for the former things are passed away40 ,,love ,every man on this planet is taking his initiation in love4 8,a new commandment ,i give unto you1 that ye love one another40 ,ouspensky states1 in 8,tertium ,organum10 that 8love is a cosmic phenomenon10 and opens to man the fourth dimensional world1 8,the ,world of the ,wondrous40 ,real love is selfless and free from fear4 ,it pours itself out upon the object of its affection1 without demanding any return4 ,its joy is in the joy of giving4 ,love is ,god in manifestation1 and the strongest magnetic force in the universe4 ,pure1 unselfish love draws to itself its own2 it does not need to seek or demand4 ,scarcely anyone has the faintest conception of real love4 ,man is selfish1 tyrannical or fearful in his affections1 thereby losing the thing he loves4 ,jealousy is the worst enemy of love1 for the imagination runs riot1 seeing the loved one attracted to another1 and invariably these fears objectify if they are not neutralized4 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me in deep distress4 ,the man she loved had left her for other women1 and said he never intended to marry her4 ,she was torn with jealousy and resentment and said she hoped he would suffer as he had made her suffer2 and added1 8,how could he leave me when ,i loved him so much80 ,i replied1 8,you are not loving that man1 you are hating him10 and added1 8,you can never receive what you have never given4 ,give a perfect love and you will receive a perfect love4 ,perfect yourself on this man4 ,give him a perfect1 unselfish love1 demanding nothing in return1 do not criticise or condemn1 and bless him wherever he is40 ,she replied1 8,no1 ,i won't bless him unless ,i know where he is60 8,well10 ,i said1 8that is not real love40 8,when you send out real love1 real love will return to you1 either from this man or his equivalent1 for if this man is not the divine selection1 you will not want him4 ,as you are one with ,god1 you are one with the love which belongs to you by divine right40 ,several months passed1 and matters remained about the same1 but she was working conscientiously with herself4 ,i said1 8,when you are no longer disturbed by his cruelty1 he will cease to be cruel1 as you are attracting it through your own emotions40 ,then ,i told her of a brotherhood in ,india1 who never said1 8,good morning0 to each other4 ,they used these words3 8,i salute the ,divinity in you40 ,they saluted the divinity in every man1 and in the wild animals in the jungle1 and they were never harmed1 for they saw only ,god in every living thing4 ,i said1 8,salute the divinity in this man1 and say1 #8,i see your divine self only4 ,i see you as ,god sees you1 perfect1 made in ,his image and likeness4'0 ,she found she was becoming more poised1 and gradually losing her resentment4 ,he was a ,captain1 and she always called him 8,the ,cap40 ,one day1 she said1 suddenly1 8,god bless the ,cap wherever he is40 ,i replied3 8,now1 that is real love1 and when you have become a #8complete circle1' and are no longer disturbed by the situation1 you will have his love1 or attract its equivalent40 ,i was moving at this time1 and did not have a telephone1 so was out of touch with her for a few weeks1 when one morning ,i received a letter saying1 8,we are married40 ,at the earliest opportunity1 ,i paid her a call4 ,my first words were1 8,what happened80 8,oh10 she exclaimed1 8a miracle6 ,one day ,i woke up and all suffering had ceased4 ,i saw him that evening and he asked me to marry him4 ,we were married in about a week1 and ,i have never seen a more devoted man40 ,there is an old saying3 8,no man is your enemy1 no man is your friend1 every man is your teacher40 ,so one should become impersonal and learn what each man has to teach him1 and soon he would learn his lessons and be free4 ,the woman's lover was teaching her selfless love1 which every man1 sooner or later1 must learn4 ,suffering is not necessary for man's development2 it is the result of violation of spiritual law1 but few people seem able to rouse themselves from their 8soul sleep0 without it4 ,when people are happy1 they usually become selfish1 and automatically the law of ,karma is set in action4 ,man often suffers loss through lack of appreciation4 ,i knew a woman who had a very nice husband1 but she said often1 8,i don't care anything about being married1 but that is nothing against my husband4 ,i'm simply not interested in married life40 ,she had other interests1 and scarcely remembered she had a husband4 ,she only thought of him when she saw him4 ,one day her husband told her he was in love with another woman1 and left4 ,she came to me in distress and resentment4 ,i replied1 8,it is exactly what you spoke the word for4 ,you said you didn't care anything about being married1 so the subconscious worked to get you unmarried40 ,she said1 8,oh yes1 ,i see4 ,people get what they want1 and then feel very much hurt40 ,she soon became in perfect harmony with the situation1 and knew they were both much happier apart4 ,when a woman becomes indifferent or critical1 and ceases to be an inspiration to her husband1 he misses the stimulus of their early relationship and is restless and unhappy4 ,a man came to me dejected1 miserable and poor4 ,his wife was interested in the 8,science of ,numbers10 and had had him read4 ,it seems the report was not very favorable1 for he said1 8,my wife says ,i'll never amount to anything because ,i am a two40 ,i replied1 8,i don't care what your number is1 you are a perfect idea in divine mind1 and we will demand the success and prosperity which are already planned for you by that ,infinite ,intelligence40 ,within a few weeks1 he had a very fine position1 and a year or two later1 he achieved a brilliant success as a writer4 ,no man is a success in business unless he loves his work4 ,the picture the artist paints for love 7of his art7 is his greatest work4 ,the pot-boiler is always something to live down4 ,no man can attract money if he despises it4 ,many people are kept in poverty by saying3 8,money means nothing to me1 and ,i have a contempt for people who have it40 ,this is the reason so many artists are poor4 ,their contempt for money separates them from it4 ,i remember hearing one artist say of another1 8,he's no good as an artist1 he has money in the bank40 ,this attitude of mind1 of course1 separates man from his supply2 he must be in harmony with a thing in order to attract it4 ,money is ,god in manifestation1 as freedom from want and limitation1 but it must be always kept in circulation and put to right uses4 ,hoarding and saving react with grim vengeance4 ,this does not mean that man should not have houses and lots1 stocks and bonds1 for 8the barns of the righteous man shall be full40 ,it means man should not hoard even the principal1 if an occasion arises1 when money is necessary4 ,in letting it go out fearlessly and cheerfully he opens the way for more to come in1 for ,god is man's unfailing and inexhaustible supply4 ,this is the spiritual attitude towards money and the great ,bank of the ,universal never fails6 ,we see an example of hoarding in the film production of 8,greed40 ,the woman won five thousand dollars in a lottery1 but would not spend it4 ,she hoarded and saved1 let her husband suffer and starve1 and eventually she scrubbed floors for a living4 ,she loved the money itself and put it above everything1 and one night she was murdered and the money taken from her4 ,this is an example of where 8love of money is the root of all evil40 ,money in itself1 is good and beneficial1 but used for destructive purposes1 hoarded and saved1 or considered more important than love1 brings disease and disaster1 and the loss of the money itself4 ,follow the path of love1 and all things are added1 for ,god is love1 and ,god is supply2 follow the path of selfishness and greed1 and the supply vanishes1 or man is separated from it4 ,for example2 ,i knew the case of a very rich woman1 who hoarded her income4 ,she rarely gave anything away1 but bought and bought and bought things for herself4 ,she was very fond of necklaces1 and a friend once asked her how many she possessed4 ,she replied1 8,sixty-seven40 ,she bought them and put them away1 carefully wrapped in tissue paper4 ,had she used the necklaces it would have been quite legitimate1 but she was violating 8the law of use40 ,her closets were filled with clothes she never wore1 and jewels which never saw the light4 ,the woman's arms were gradually becoming paralyzed from holding on to things1 and eventually she was considered incapable of looking after her affairs and her wealth was handed over to others to manage4 ,so man1 in ignorance of the law1 brings about his own destruction4 ,all disease1 all unhappiness1 come from the violation of the law of love4 ,man's boomerangs of hate1 resentment and criticism1 come back laden with sickness and sorrow4 ,love seems almost a lost art1 but the man with the knowledge of spiritual law knows it must be regained1 for without it1 he has 8become as sounding brass and tinkling cymbals40 ,for example3 ,i had a student who came to me1 month after month1 to clean her consciousness of resentment4 ,after a while1 she arrived at the point where she resented only one woman1 but that one woman kept her busy4 ,little by little she became poised and harmonious1 and one day1 all resentment was wiped out4 ,she came in radiant1 and exclaimed 8,you can't understand how ,i feel6 ,the woman said something to me and instead of being furious ,i was loving and kind1 and she apologized and was perfectly lovely to me4 ,no one can understand the marvelous lightness ,i feel within60 ,love and good-will are invaluable in business4 ,for example3 ,a woman came to me1 complaining of her employer4 ,she said she was cold and critical and knew she did not want her in the position4 8,well10 ,i replied1 8,salute the ,divinity in the woman and send her love40 ,she said 8,i can't2 she's a marble woman40 ,i answered1 8,you remember the story of the sculptor who asked for a certain piece of marble4 ,he was asked why he wanted it1 and he replied1 #8because there is an angel in the marble1' and out of it he produced a wonderful work of art40 ,she said1 8,very well1 ,i'll try it40 ,a week later she came back and said1 8,i did what you told me to1 and now the woman is very kind1 and took me out in her car40 ,people are sometimes filled with remorse for having done someone an unkindness1 perhaps years ago4 ,if the wrong cannot be righted1 its effect can be neutralized by doing some one a kindness in the present4 8,this one thing ,i do1 forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before40 ,sorrow1 regret and remorse tear down the cells of the body1 and poison the atmosphere of the individual4 ,a woman said to me in deep sorrow1 8,treat me to be happy and joyous1 for my sorrow makes me so irritable with the members of my family that ,i keep making more ,karma40 ,i was asked to treat a woman who was mourning for her daughter4 ,i denied all belief in loss and separation1 and affirmed that ,god was the woman's joy1 love and peace4 ,the woman gained her poise at once1 but sent word by her son1 not to treat any longer1 because she was 8so happy1 it wasn't respectable40 ,so 8mortal mind0 loves to hang on to its griefs and regrets4 ,i knew a woman who went about bragging of her troubles1 so1 of course1 she always had something to brag about4 ,the old idea was if a woman did not worry about her children1 she was not a good mother4 ,now1 we know that mother-fear is responsible for many of the diseases and accidents which come into the lives of children4 ,for fear pictures vividly the disease or situation feared1 and these pictures objectify1 if not neutralized4 ,happy is the mother who can say sincerely1 that she puts her child in ,god's hands1 and knows therefore1 that he is divinely protected4 ,for example3 ,a woman awoke suddenly1 in the night1 feeling her brother was in great danger4 ,instead of giving in to her fears1 she commenced making statements of ,truth1 saying1 8,man is a perfect idea in ,divine ,mind1 and is always in his right place1 therefore1 my brother is in his right place1 and is divinely protected40 ,the next day she found that her brother had been in close proximity to an explosion in a mine1 but had miraculously escaped4 ,so man is his brother's keeper 7in thought7 and every man should know that the thing he loves dwells in 8the secret place of the most high1 and abides under the shadow of the ,almighty40 8,there shall no evil befall thee1 neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling40 8,perfect love casteth out fear4 ,he that feareth is not made perfect in love10 and 8,love is the fulfilling of the ,law40 ,,intuition ,,or ,,guidance 8,in all thy ways acknowledge ,him and ,he shall direct thy paths40 ,there is nothing too great of accomplishment for the man who knows the power of his word1 and who follows his intuitive leads4 ,by the word he starts in action unseen forces and can rebuild his body or remold his affairs4 ,it is1 therefore1 of the utmost importance to choose the right words1 and the student carefully selects the affirmation he wishes to catapult into the invisible4 ,he knows that ,god is his supply1 that there is a supply for every demand1 and that his spoken word releases this supply4 8,ask and ye shall receive40 ,man must make the first move4 8,draw nigh to ,god and ,he will draw nigh to you40 ,i have often been asked just how to make a demonstration4 ,i reply3 8,speak the word and then do not do anything until you get a definite lead40 ,demand the lead1 saying1 8,infinite ,spirit1 reveal to me the way1 let me know if there is anything for me to do40 ,the answer will come through intuition 7or hunch72 a chance remark from someone1 or a passage in a book1 etc41 etc4 ,the answers are sometimes quite startling in their exactness4 ,for example3 ,a woman desired a large sum of money4 ,she spoke the words3 8,infinite ,spirit1 open the way for my immediate supply1 let all that is mine by divine right now reach me1 in great avalanches of abundance40 ,then she added3 8,give me a definite lead1 let me know if there is anything for me to do40 ,the thought came quickly1 8,give a certain friend0 7who had helped her spiritually7 8a hundred dollars40 ,she told her friend1 who said1 8,wait and get another lead1 before giving it40 ,so she waited1 and that day met a woman who said to her1 8,i gave someone a dollar today2 it was just as much for me1 as it would be for you to give someone a hundred40 ,this was indeed an unmistakable lead1 so she knew she was right in giving the hundred dollars4 ,it was a gift which proved a great investment1 for shortly after that1 a large sum of money came to her in a remarkable way4 ,giving opens the way for receiving4 ,in order to create activity in finances1 one should give4 ,tithing or giving one-tenth of one's income1 is an old ,jewish custom1 and is sure to bring increase4 ,many of the richest men in this country have been tithers1 and ,i have never known it to fail as an investment4 ,the tenth-part goes forth and returns blessed and multiplied4 ,but the gift or tithe must be given with love and cheerfulness1 for 8,god loveth a cheerful giver40 ,bills should be paid cheerfully2 all money should be sent forth fearlessly and with a blessing4 ,this attitude of mind makes man master of money4 ,it is his to obey1 and his spoken word then opens vast reservoirs of wealth4 ,man1 himself1 limits his supply by his limited vision4 ,sometimes the student has a great realization of wealth1 but is afraid to act4 ,the vision and action must go hand in hand1 as in the case of the man who bought the fur-lined overcoat4 ,a woman came to me asking me to 8speak the word0 for a position4 ,so ,i demanded3 8,infinite ,spirit1 open the way for this woman's right position40 ,never ask for just 8a position02 ask for the right position1 the place already planned in ,divine ,mind1 as it is the only one that will give satisfaction4 ,i then gave thanks that she had already received1 and that it would manifest quickly4 ,very soon1 she had three positions offered her1 two in ,new ,york and one in ,palm ,beach1 and she did not know which to choose4 ,i said1 8,ask for a definite lead40 ,the time was almost up and was still undecided1 when one day1 she telephoned1 8,when ,i woke up this morning1 ,i could smell ,palm ,beach40 ,she had been there before and knew its balmy fragrance4 ,i replied3 8,well1 if you can smell ,palm ,beach from here1 it is certainly your lead40 ,she accepted the position1 and it proved a great success4 ,often one's lead comes at an unexpected time4 ,one day1 ,i was walking down the street1 when ,i suddenly felt a strong urge to go to a certain bakery1 a block or two away4 ,the reasoning mind resisted1 arguing1 8,there is nothing there that you want40 ,however1 ,i had learned not to reason1 so ,i went to the bakery1 looked at everything1 and there was certainly nothing there that ,i wanted1 but coming out ,i encountered a woman ,i had thought of often1 and who was in great need of the help which ,i could give her4 ,so often1 one goes for one thing and finds another4 ,intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain1 but simply points the way4 ,a person often receives a lead during a 8treatment40 ,the idea that comes may seem quite irrelevant1 but some of ,god's leadings are 8mysterious40 ,in the class1 one day1 ,i was treating that each individual would receive a definite lead4 ,a woman came to me afterwards1 and said3 8,while you were treating1 ,i got the hunch to take my furniture out of storage and get an apartment40 ,the woman had come to be treated for health4 ,i told her ,i knew in getting a home of her own1 her health would improve1 and ,i added1 8,i believe your trouble1 which is a congestion1 has come from having things stored away4 ,congestion of things causes congestion in the body4 ,you have violated the law of use1 and your body is paying the penalty40 ,so ,i gave thanks that 8,divine order was established in her mind1 body and affairs40 ,people little dream of how their affairs react on the body4 ,there is a mental correspondence for every disease4 ,a person might receive instantaneous healing through the realization of his body being a perfect idea in ,divine ,mind1 and1 therefore1 whole and perfect1 but if he continues his destructive thinking1 hoarding1 hating1 fearing1 condemning1 the disease will return4 ,jesus ,christ knew that all sickness came from sin1 but admonished the leper after the healing1 to go and sin no more1 lest a worse thing come upon him4 ,so man's soul 7or subconscious mind7 must be washed whiter than snow1 for permanent healing2 and the metaphysician is always delving deep for the 8correspondence40 ,jesus ,christ said1 8,condemn not lest ye also be condemned40 8,judge not1 lest ye be judged40 ,many people have attracted disease and unhappiness through condemnation of others4 ,what man condemns in others1 he attracts to himself4 ,for example3 ,a friend came to me in anger and distress1 because her husband had deserted her for another woman4 ,she condemned the other woman1 and said continually1 8,she knew he was a married man1 and had no right to accept his attentions40 ,i replied1 8,stop condemning the woman1 bless her1 and be through with the situation1 otherwise1 you are attracting the same thing to yourself40 ,she was deaf to my words1 and a year or two later1 became deeply interested in a married man1 herself4 ,man picks up a live-wire whenever he criticises or condemns1 and may expect a shock4 ,indecision is a stumbling-block in many a pathway4 ,in order to overcome it1 make the statement1 repeatedly1 8,i am always under direct inspiration2 ,i make right decisions1 quickly40 ,these words impress the subconscious1 and soon one finds himself awake and alert1 making his right moves without hesitation4 ,i have found it destructive to look to the psychic plane for guidance1 as it is the plane of many minds and not 8,the ,one ,mind40 ,as man opens his mind to subjectivity1 he becomes a target for destructive forces4 ,the psychic plane is the result of man's mortal thought1 and is on the 8plane of opposites40 ,he may receive either good or bad messages4 ,the science of numbers and the reading of horoscopes1 keep man down on the mental 7or mortal7 plane1 for they deal only with the ,karmic path4 ,i know of a man who should have been dead1 years ago1 according to his horoscope1 but he is alive and a leader of one of the biggest movements in this country for the uplift of humanity4 ,it takes a very strong mind to neutralize a prophecy of evil4 ,the student should declare1 8,every false prophecy shall come to naught2 every plan my ,father in heaven has not planned1 shall be dissolved and dissipated1 the divine idea now comes to pass40 ,however1 if any good message has ever been given one1 of coming happiness1 or wealth1 harbor and expect it1 and it will manifest sooner or later1 through the law of expectancy4 ,man's will should be used to back the universal will4 8,i will that the will of ,god be done40 ,it is ,god's will to give every man1 every righteous desire of his heart1 and man's will should be used to hold the perfect vision1 without wavering4 ,the prodigal son said3 8,i will arise and go to my ,father40 ,it is1 indeed1 often an effort of the will to leave the husks and swine of mortal thinking4 ,it is so much easier1 for the average person1 to have fear than faith2 so faith is an effort of the will4 ,as man becomes spiritually awakened he recognizes that any external inharmony is the correspondence of mental inharmony4 ,if he stumbles or falls1 he may know he is stumbling or falling in consciousness4 ,one day1 a student was walking along the street condemning someone in her thoughts4 ,she was saying1 mentally1 8,that woman is the most disagreeable woman on earth10 when suddenly three boy scouts rushed around the corner and almost knocked her over4 ,she did not condemn the boy scouts1 but immediately called on the law of forgiveness1 and 8saluted the divinity0 in the woman4 ,wisdom's ways are ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace4 ,when one has made his demands upon the ,universal1 he must be ready for surprises4 ,everything may seem to be going wrong1 when in reality1 it is going right4 ,for example3 ,a woman was told that there was no loss in divine mind1 therefore1 she could not lose anything which belonged to her2 anything lost1 would be returned1 or she would receive its equivalent4 ,several years previously1 she had lost two thousand dollars4 ,she had loaned the money to a relative during her lifetime1 but the relative had died1 leaving no mention of it in her will4 ,the woman was resentful and angry1 and as she had no written statement of the transaction1 she never received the money1 so she determined to deny the loss1 and collect the two thousand dollars from the ,bank of the ,universal4 ,she had to begin by forgiving the woman1 as resentment and unforgiveness close the doors of this wonderful bank4 ,she made this statement1 8,i deny loss1 there is no loss in ,divine ,mind1 therefore1 ,i cannot lose the two thousand dollars1 which belong to me by divine right40 8,as one door shuts another door opens40 ,she was living in an apartment house which was for sale2 and in the lease was a clause1 stating that if the house was sold1 the tenants would be required to move out within ninety days4 ,suddenly1 the landlord broke the leases and raised the rent4 ,again1 injustice was on her pathway1 but this time she was undisturbed4 ,she blessed the landlord1 and said1 8,as the rent has been raised1 it means that ,i'll be that much richer1 for ,god is my supply40 ,new leases were made out for the advanced rent1 but by some divine mistake1 the ninety days clause had been forgotten4 ,soon after1 the landlord had an opportunity to sell the house4 ,on account of the mistake in the new leases1 the tenants held possession for another year4 ,the agent offered each tenant two hundred dollars if he would vacate4 ,several families moved2 three remained1 including the woman4 ,a month or two passed1 and the agent again appeared4 ,this time he said to the woman1 8,will you break your lease for the sum of fifteen hundred dollars80 ,it flashed upon her1 8,here comes the two thousand dollars40 ,she remembered having said to friends in the house1 8,we will all act together if anything more is said about leaving40 ,so her lead was to consult her friends4 ,these friends said3 8,well1 if they have offered you fifteen hundred they will certainly give two thousand40 ,so she received a check for two thousand dollars for giving up the apartment4 ,it was certainly a remarkable working of the law1 and the apparent injustice was merely opening the way for her demonstration4 ,it proved that there is no loss1 and when man takes his spiritual stand1 he collects all that is his from this great ,reservoir of ,good4 8,i will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten40 ,the locusts are the doubts1 fears1 resentments and regrets of mortal thinking4 ,these adverse thoughts1 alone1 rob man2 for 8,no man gives to himself but himself1 and no man takes away from himself1 but himself40 ,man is here to prove ,god and 8to bear witness to the truth10 and he can only prove ,god by bringing plenty out of lack1 and justice out of injustice4 8,prove me now herewith1 saith the ,lord of hosts1 if ,i will not open you the windows of heaven1 and pour out a blessing1 that there shall not be room enough to receive it40 ,,perfect ,,self-,,expression or ,,the ,,divine ,,design 8,no wind can drive my bark astray nor change the tide of destiny40 ,there is for each man1 perfect self-expression4 ,there is a place which he is to fill and no one else can fill1 something which he is to do1 which no one else can do2 it is his destiny6 ,this achievement is held1 a perfect idea in ,divine ,mind1 awaiting man's recognition4 ,as the imaging faculty is the creative faculty1 it is necessary for man to see the idea1 before it can manifest4 ,so man's highest demand is for the ,divine ,design of his life4 ,he may not have the faintest conception of what it is1 for there is1 possibly1 some marvelous talent1 hidden deep within him4 ,his demand should be3 8,infinite ,spirit1 open the way for the ,divine ,design of my life to manifest2 let the genius within me now be released2 let me see clearly the perfect plan40 ,the perfect plan includes health1 wealth1 love and perfect self-expression4 ,this is the square of life1 which brings perfect happiness4 ,when one has made this demand1 he may find great changes taking place in his life1 for nearly every man has wandered far from the ,divine ,design4 ,i know1 in one woman's case1 it was as though a cyclone had struck her affairs1 but readjustments came quickly1 and new and wonderful conditions took the place of old ones4 ,perfect self-expression will never be labor2 but of such absorbing interest that it will seem almost like play4 ,the student knows1 also1 as man comes into the world financed by ,god1 the supply needed for his perfect self-expression will be at hand4 ,many a genius has struggled for years with the problem of supply1 when his spoken word1 and faith1 would have released quickly1 the necessary funds4 ,for example3 ,after the class1 one day1 a man came to me and handed me a cent4 ,he said3 8,i have just seven cents in the world1 and ,i'm going to give you one2 for ,i have faith in the power of your spoken word4 ,i want you to speak the word for my perfect self-expression and prosperity40 ,i 8spoke the word10 and did not see him again until a year later4 ,he came in one day1 successful and happy1 with a roll of yellow bills in his pocket4 ,he said1 8,immediately after you spoke the word1 ,i had a position offered me in a distant city1 and am now demonstrating health1 happiness and supply40 ,a woman's perfect self-expression may be in becoming a perfect wife1 a perfect mother1 a perfect home-maker and not necessarily in having a public career4 ,demand definite leads1 and the way will be made easy and successful4 ,one should not visualize or force a mental picture4 ,when he demands the ,divine ,design to come into his conscious mind1 he will receive flashes of inspiration1 and begin to see himself making some great accomplishment4 ,this is the picture1 or idea1 he must hold without wavering4 ,the thing man seeks is seeking him--the telephone was seeking ,bell6 ,parents should never force careers and professions upon their children4 ,with a knowledge of spiritual ,truth1 the ,divine ,plan could be spoken for1 early in childhood1 or prenatally4 ,a prenatal treatment should be3 8,let the ,god in this child have perfect expression2 let the ,divine ,design of his mind1 body and affairs be made manifest throughout his life1 throughout eternity40 ,god's will be done1 not man's2 ,god's pattern1 not man's pattern1 is the command we find running through all the scriptures1 and the ,bible is a book dealing with the science of the mind4 ,it is a book telling man how to release his soul 7or subconscious mind7 from bondage4 ,the battles described are pictures of man waging war against mortal thoughts4 8,a man's foes shall be they of his own household40 ,every man is ,jehoshaphat1 and every man is ,david1 who slays ,goliath 7mortal thinking7 with the little white stone 7faith74 ,so man must be careful that he is not the 8wicked and slothful servant0 who buried his talent4 ,there is a terrible penalty to be paid for not using one's ability4 ,often fear stands between man and his perfect self-expression4 ,stage-fright has hampered many a genius4 ,this may be overcome by the spoken word1 or treatment4 ,the individual then loses all self-consciousness1 and feels simply that he is a channel for ,infinite ,intelligence to express ,itself through4 ,he is under direct inspiration1 fearless1 and confident2 for he feels that it is the 8,father within0 him who does the work4 ,a young boy came often to my class with his mother4 ,he asked me to 8speak the word0 for his coming examinations at school4 ,i told him to make the statement3 8,i am one with ,infinite ,intelligence4 ,i know everything ,i should know on this subject40 ,he had an excellent knowledge of history1 but was not sure of his arithmetic4 ,i saw him afterwards1 and he said3 8,i spoke the word for my arithmetic1 and passed with the highest honors2 but thought ,i could depend on myself for history1 and got a very poor mark40 ,man often receives a set-back when he is 8too sure of himself10 which means he is trusting to his personality and not the 8,father within40 ,another one of my students gave me an example of this4 ,she took an extended trip abroad one summer1 visiting many countries1 where she was ignorant of the languages4 ,she was calling for guidance and protection every minute1 and her affairs went smoothly and miraculously4 ,her luggage was never delayed nor lost6 ,accommodations were always ready for her at the best hotels2 and she had perfect service wherever she went4 ,she returned to ,new ,york4 ,knowing the language1 she felt ,god was no longer necessary1 so looked after her affairs in an ordinary manner4 ,everything went wrong1 her trunks delayed1 amid inharmony and confusion4 ,the student must form the habit of 8practicing the ,presence of ,god0 every minute4 8,in all thy ways acknowledge him20 nothing is too small or too great4 ,sometimes an insignificant incident may be the turning point in a man's life4 ,robert ,fulton1 watching some boiling water1 simmering in a tea kettle1 saw a steamboat6 ,i have seen a student1 often1 keep back his demonstration1 through resistance1 or pointing the way4 ,he pins his faith to one channel only1 and dictates just the way he desires the manifestation to come1 which brings things to a standstill4 8,my way1 not your way60 is the command of ,infinite ,intelligence4 ,like all ,power1 be it steam or electricity1 it must have a nonresistant engine or instrument to work through1 and man is that engine or instrument4 ,over and over again1 man is told to 8stand still04 8,oh ,judah1 fear not2 but tomorrow go out against them1 for the ,lord will be with you4 ,you shall not need to fight this battle2 set yourselves1 stand ye still1 and see the salvation of the ,lord with you40 ,we see this in the incidents of the two thousand dollars coming to the woman through the landlord when she became nonresistant and undisturbed1 and the woman who won the man's love 8after all suffering had ceased40 ,the student's goal is ,poise6 ,poise is ,power1 for it gives ,god-,power a chance to rush through man1 to 8will and to do ,its good pleasure40 ,poised1 he thinks clearly1 and makes 8right decisions quickly40 8,he never misses a trick40 ,anger blurs the visions1 poisons the blood1 is the root of many diseases1 and causes wrong decision leading to failure4 ,it has been named one of the worst 8sins10 as its reaction is so harmful4 ,the student learns that in metaphysics sin has a much broader meaning than in the old teaching4 8,whatsoever is not of faith is sin40 ,he finds that fear and worry are deadly sins4 ,they are inverted faith1 and through distorted mental pictures1 bring to pass the thing he fears4 ,his work is to drive out these enemies 7from the subconscious mind74 8,when ,man is fearless he is finished60 ,maeterlinck says1 that 8,man is ,god afraid40 ,so1 as we read in the previous chapters3 ,man can only vanquish fear by walking up to the thing he is afraid of4 ,when ,jehoshaphat and his army prepared to meet the enemy1 singing 8,praise the ,lord1 for his mercy endureth forever10 they found their enemies had destroyed each other1 and there was nothing to fight4 ,for example3 ,a woman asked a friend to deliver a message to another friend4 ,the woman feared to give the message1 as the reasoning mind said1 8,don't get mixed-up in this affair1 don't give that message40 ,she was troubled in spirit1 for she had given her promise4 ,at last1 she determined to 8walk up to the lion10 and call on the law of divine protection4 ,she met the friend to whom she was to deliver the message4 ,she opened her mouth to speak it1 when her friend said1 8,so-and-,so has left town40 ,this made it unnecessary to give the message1 as the situation depended upon the person being in town4 ,as she was willing to do it1 she was not obliged to2 as she did not fear1 the situation vanished4 ,the student often delays his demonstration through a belief in incompletion4 ,he should make this statement3 8,in ,divine ,mind there is only completion1 therefore1 my demonstration is completed4 ,my perfect work1 my perfect home1 my perfect health40 ,whatever he demands are perfect ideas registered in ,divine ,mind1 and must manifest1 8under grace in a perfect way40 ,he gives thanks he has already received on the invisible1 and makes active preparation for receiving on the visible4 ,one of my students was in need of a financial demonstration4 ,she came to me and asked why it was not completed4 ,i replied3 8,perhaps1 you are in the habit of leaving things unfinished1 and the subconscious has gotten into the habit of not completing 7as the without1 so the within740 ,she said1 8,you are right4 ,i often begin things and never finish them40 8,i'll go home and finish something ,i commenced weeks ago1 and ,i know it will be symbolic of my demonstration40 ,so she sewed assiduously1 and the article was soon completed4 ,shortly after1 the money came in a most curious manner4 ,her husband was paid his salary twice that month4 ,he told the people of their mistake1 and they sent word to keep it4 ,when man asks1 believing1 he must receive1 for ,god creates ,his own channels6 ,i have been sometimes asked1 8,suppose one has several talents1 how is he to know which one to choose80 ,demand to be shown definitely4 ,say3 8,infinite ,spirit1 give me a definite lead1 reveal to me my perfect self-expression1 show me which talent ,i am to make use of now40 ,i have known people to suddenly enter a new line of work1 and be fully equipped1 with little or no training4 ,so make the statement3 8,i am fully equipped for the ,divine ,plan of my life10 and be fearless in grasping opportunities4 ,some people are cheerful givers1 but bad receivers4 ,they refuse gifts through pride1 or some negative reason1 thereby blocking their channels1 and invariably find themselves eventually with little or nothing4 ,for example3 ,a woman who had given away a great deal of money1 had a gift offered her of several thousand dollars4 ,she refused to take it1 saying she did not need it4 ,shortly after that1 her finances were 8tied up10 and she found herself in debt for that amount4 ,man should receive gracefully the bread returning to him upon the water--freely ye have given1 freely ye shall receive4 ,there is always the perfect balance of giving and receiving1 and though man should give without thinking of returns1 he violates law if he does not accept the returns which come to him2 for all gifts are from ,god1 man being merely the channel4 ,a thought of lack should never be held over the giver4 ,for example3 ,when the man gave me the one cent1 ,i did not say3 8,poor man1 he cannot afford to give me that40 ,i saw him rich and prosperous1 with his supply pouring in4 ,it was this thought which brought it4 ,if one has been a bad receiver1 he must become a good one1 and take even a postage stamp if it is given him1 and open up his channels for receiving4 ,the ,lord loveth a cheerful receiver1 as well as a cheerful giver4 ,i have often been asked why one man is born rich and healthy1 and another poor and sick4 ,where there is an effect there is always a cause2 there is no such thing as chance4 ,this question is answered through the law of reincarnation4 ,man goes through many births and deaths1 until he knows the truth which sets him free4 ,he is drawn back to the earth plane through unsatisfied desire1 to pay his ,karmic debts1 or to 8fulfill his destiny40 ,the man born rich and healthy has had pictures in his subconscious mind1 in his past life1 of health and riches2 and the poor and sick man1 of disease and poverty4 ,man manifests1 on any plane1 the sum total of his subconscious beliefs4 ,however1 birth and death are man-made laws1 for the 8wages of sin is death02 the ,adamic fall in consciousness through the belief in two powers4 ,the real man1 spiritual man1 is birthless and deathless6 ,he never was born and has never died--8,as he was in the beginning1 he is now1 and ever shall be60 ,so through the truth1 man is set free from the law of ,karma1 sin and death1 and manifests the man made in 8,his image and likeness40 ,man's freedom comes through fulfilling his destiny1 bringing into manifestation the ,divine ,design of his life4 ,his lord will say unto him3 8,well done thou good and faithful servant1 thou hast been faithful over a few things1 ,i will make thee ruler over many things 7death itself72 enter thou into the joy of thy ,lord 7eternal life740 ,,denials ,,and ,,affirmations 8,thou shalt also decree a thing1 and it shall be established unto thee40 ,all the good that is to be made manifest in man's life is already an accomplished fact in divine mind1 and is released through man's recognition1 or spoken word1 so he must be careful to decree that only the ,divine ,idea be made manifest1 for often1 he decrees1 through his 8idle words10 failure or misfortune4 ,it is1 therefore1 of the utmost importance1 to word one's demands correctly1 as stated in a previous chapter4 ,if one desires a home1 friend1 position or any other good thing1 make the demand for the 8divine selection40 ,for example3 8,infinite ,spirit1 open the way for my right home1 my right friend1 my right position4 ,i give thanks it now manifests under grace in a perfect way40 ,the latter part of the statement is most important4 ,for example3 ,i knew a woman who demanded a thousand dollars4 ,her daughter was injured and they received a thousand dollars indemnity1 so it did not come in a 8perfect way40 ,the demand should have been worded in this way3 8,infinite ,spirit1 ,i give thanks that the one thousand dollars1 which is mine by divine right1 is now released1 and reaches me under grace1 in a perfect way40 ,as one grows in a financial consciousness1 he should demand that the enormous sums of money1 which are his by divine right1 reach him under grace1 in perfect ways4 ,it is impossible for man to release more than he thinks is possible1 for one is bound by the limited expectancies of the subconscious4 ,he must enlarge his expectancies in order to receive in a larger way4 ,man so often limits himself in his demands4 ,for example3 ,a student made the demand for six hundred dollars1 by a certain date4 ,he did receive it1 but heard afterwards1 that he came very near receiving a thousand dollars1 but he was given just six hundred1 as the result of his spoken word4 8,they limited the ,holy ,one of ,israel40 ,wealth is a matter of consciousness4 ,the ,french have a legend giving an example of this4 ,a poor man was walking along a road when he met a traveler1 who stopped him and said3 8,my good friend1 ,i see you are poor4 ,take this gold nugget1 sell it1 and you will be rich all your days40 ,the man was overjoyed at his good fortune1 and took the nugget home4 ,he immediately found work and became so prosperous that he did not sell the nugget4 ,years passed1 and he became a very rich man4 ,one day he met a poor man on the road4 ,he stopped him and said3 8,my good friend1 ,i will give you this gold nugget1 which1 if you sell1 will make you rich for life40 ,the mendicant took the nugget1 had it valued1 and found it was only brass4 ,so we see1 the first man became rich through feeling rich1 thinking the nugget was gold4 ,every man has within himself a gold nugget2 it is his consciousness of gold1 of opulence1 which brings riches into his life4 ,in making his demands1 man begins at his journey's end1 that is1 he declares he has already received4 8,before ye call ,i shall answer40 ,continually affirming establishes the belief in the subconscious4 ,it would not be necessary to make an affirmation more than once if one had perfect faith6 ,one should not plead or supplicate1 but give thanks repeatedly1 that he has received4 8,the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose40 ,this rejoicing which is yet in the desert 7state of consciousness7 opens the way for release4 ,the ,lord's ,prayer is in the form of command and demand1 8,give us this day our daily bread1 and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors10 and ends in praise1 8,for thine is the ,kingdom and the ,power and the ,glory1 forever4 ,amen40 8,concerning the works of my hands1 command ye me40 ,so prayer is command and demand1 praise and thanksgiving4 ,the student's work is in making himself believe that 8with ,god all things are possible40 ,this is easy enough to state in the abstract1 but a little more difficult when confronted with a problem4 ,for example3 ,it was necessary for a woman to demonstrate a large sum of money within a stated time4 ,she knew she must do something to get a realization 7for realization is manifestation71 and she demanded a 8lead40 ,she was walking through a department store1 when she saw a very beautiful pink enamel papercutter4 ,she felt the 8pull0 towards it4 ,the thought came4 8,i haven't a paper cutter good enough to open letters containing large cheques40 ,so she bought the papercutter1 which the reasoning mind would have called an extravagance4 ,when she held it in her hand1 she had a flash of a picture of herself opening an envelope containing a large cheque1 and in a few weeks1 she received the money4 ,the pink papercutter was her bridge of active faith4 ,many stories are told of the power of the subconscious when directed in faith4 ,for example3 ,a man was spending the night in a farmhouse4 ,the windows of the room had been nailed down1 and in the middle of the night he felt suffocated and made his way in the dark to the window4 ,he could not open it1 so he smashed the pane with his fist1 drew in draughts of fine fresh air1 and had a wonderful night's sleep4 ,the next morning1 he found he had smashed the glass of a bookcase and the window had remained closed during the whole night4 ,he had supplied himself with oxygen1 simply by his thought of oxygen4 ,when a student starts out to demonstrate1 he should never turn back4 8,let not that man who wavers think that he shall receive anything of the ,lord40 ,a colored student once made this wonderful statement1 8,when ,i asks the ,father for anything1 ,i puts my foot down1 and ,i says3 ,father1 ,i'll take nothing less than ,i've asked for1 but more60 ,so man should never compromise3 8,having done all--,stand40 ,this is sometimes the most difficult time of demonstrating4 ,the temptation comes to give up1 to turn back1 to compromise4 8,he also serves who only stands and waits40 ,demonstrations often come at the eleventh hour because man then lets go1 that is1 stops reasoning1 and ,infinite ,intelligence has a chance to work4 8,man's dreary desires are answered drearily1 and his impatient desires1 long delayed or violently fulfilled40 ,for example3 ,a woman asked me why it was she was constantly losing or breaking her glasses4 ,we found she often said to herself and others with vexation1 8,i wish ,i could get rid of my glasses40 ,so her impatient desire was violently fulfilled4 ,what she should have demanded was perfect eye-sight1 but what she registered in the subconscious was simply the impatient desire to be rid of her glasses2 so they were continually being broken or lost4 ,two attitudes of mind cause loss3 depreciation1 as in the case of the woman who did not appreciate her husband1 or fear of loss1 which makes a picture of loss in the subconscious4 ,when a student is able to let go of his problem 7cast his burden7 he will have instantaneous manifestation4 ,for example3 ,a woman was out during a very stormy day and her umbrella was blown inside-out4 ,she was about to make a call on some people whom she had never met and she did not wish to make her first appearance with a dilapidated umbrella4 ,she could not throw it away1 as it did not belong to her4 ,so in desperation1 she exclaimed3 8,oh1 ,god1 you take charge of this umbrella1 ,i don't know what to do40 ,a moment later1 a voice behind her said3 8,lady1 do you want your umbrella mended80 ,there stood an umbrella mender4 ,she replied1 8,indeed1 ,i do40 ,the man mended the umbrella1 while she went into the house to pay her call1 and when she returned1 she had a good umbrella4 ,so there is always an umbrella mender at hand1 on man's pathway1 when one puts the umbrella 7or situation7 in ,god's ,hands4 ,one should always follow a denial with an affirmation4 ,for example3 ,i was called on the 'phone late one night to treat a man whom ,i had never seen4 ,he was apparently very ill4 ,i made the statement3 8,i deny this appearance of disease4 ,it is unreal1 therefore cannot register in his consciousness2 this man is a perfect idea in ,divine ,mind1 pure substance expressing perfection40 ,there is no time or space1 in ,divine ,mind1 therefore the word reaches instantly its destination and does not 8return void40 ,i have treated patients in ,europe and have found that the result was instantaneous4 ,i am asked so often the difference between visualizing and visioning4 ,visualizing is a mental process governed by the reasoning or conscious mind2 visioning is a spiritual process1 governed by intuition1 or the superconscious mind4 ,the student should train his mind to receive these flashes of inspiration1 and work out the 8divine pictures10 through definite leads4 ,when a man can say1 8,i desire only that which ,god desires for me10 his false desires fade from the consciousness1 and a new set of blueprints is given him by the ,master ,architect1 the ,god within4 ,god's plan for each man transcends the limitation of the reasoning mind1 and is always the square of life1 containing health1 wealth1 love and perfect self-expression4 ,many a man is building for himself in imagination a bungalow when he should be building a palace4 ,if a student tries to force a demonstration 7through the reasoning mind7 he brings it to a standstill4 8,i will hasten it10 saith the ,lord4 ,he should act only through intuition1 or definite leads4 8,rest in the ,lord and wait patiently4 ,trust also in him1 and he will bring it to pass40 ,i have seen the law work in the most astonishing manner4 ,for example3 ,a student stated that it was necessary for her to have a hundred dollars by the following day4 ,it was a debt of vital importance which had to be met4 ,i 8spoke the word10 declaring ,spirit was 8never too late0 and that the supply was at hand4 ,that evening she phoned me of the miracle4 ,she said that the thought came to her to go to her safe-deposit box at the bank to examine some papers4 ,she looked over the papers1 and at the bottom of the box1 was a new one hundred dollar-bill4 ,she was astounded1 and said she knew she had never put it there1 for she had gone through the papers many times4 ,it may have been a materialization1 as ,jesus ,christ materialized the loaves and fishes4 ,man will reach the stage where his 8word is made flesh10 or materialized1 instantly4 8,the fields1 ripe with the harvest10 will manifest immediately1 as in all of the miracles of ,jesus ,christ4 ,there is a tremendous power alone in the name ,jesus ,christ4 ,it stands for ,truth ,made ,manifest4 ,he said1 8,whatsoever ye ask the ,father1 in my name1 he will give it to you40 ,the power of this name raises the student into the fourth dimension1 where he is freed from all astral and psychic influences1 and he becomes 8unconditioned and absolute1 as ,god ,himself is unconditioned and absolute40 ,i have seen many healings accomplished by using the words1 8,in the name of ,jesus ,christ40 ,christ was both person and principle2 and the ,christ within each man is his ,redeemer and ,salvation4 ,the ,christ within1 is his own fourth dimensional self1 the man made in ,god's image and likeness4 ,this is the self which has never failed1 never known sickness or sorrow1 was never born and has never died4 ,it is the 8resurrection and the life0 of each man6 8,no man cometh to the ,father save by the ,son10 means1 that ,god1 the ,universal1 working on the place of the particular1 becomes the ,christ in man2 and the ,holy ,ghost1 means ,god-in-action4 ,so daily1 man is manifesting the ,trinity of ,father1 ,son and ,holy ,ghost4 ,man should make an art of thinking4 ,the ,master ,thinker is an artist and is careful to paint only the divine designs upon the canvas of his mind2 and he paints these pictures with masterly strokes of power and decision1 having perfect faith that there is no power to mar their perfection and that they shall manifest in his life the ideal made real4 ,all power is given man 7through right thinking7 to bring his heaven upon his earth1 and this is the goal of the 8,game of ,life40 ,the simple rules are fearless faith1 nonresistance and love6 ,may each reader be now freed from that thing which has held him in bondage through the ages1 standing between him and his own1 and 8know the ,truth which makes him free0--free to fulfill his destiny1 to bring into manifestation the 8,divine ,design of his life1 ,health1 ,wealth1 ,love and ,perfect ,self-,expression40 8,be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind40 7,for ,prosperity7 ,god is my unfailing supply1 and large sums of money come to me quickly1 under grace1 in perfect ways4 7,for ,right ,conditions7 ,every plan my ,father in heaven has not planned1 shall be dissolved and dissipated1 and the ,divine ,idea now comes to pass4 7,for ,right ,conditions7 ,only that which is true of ,god is true of me1 for ,i and the ,father are ,,one4 7,for ,faith7 ,as ,i am one with ,god1 ,i am one with my good1 for ,god is both the ,giver and the ,gift4 ,i cannot separate the ,giver from the gift4 7,for ,right ,conditions7 ,divine ,love now dissolves and dissipates every wrong condition in my mind1 body and affairs4 ,divine ,love is the most powerful chemical in the universe1 and dissolves everything which is not of itself6 7,for ,health7 ,divine ,love floods my consciousness with health1 and every cell in my body is filled with light4 7,for the ,eyesight7 ,my eyes are ,god's eyes1 ,i see with the eyes of spirit4 ,i see clearly the open way2 there are no obstacles on my pathway4 ,i see clearly the perfect plan4 7,for ,guidance7 ,i am divinely sensitive to my intuitive leads1 and give instant obedience to ,thy will4 7,for the ,hearing7 ,my ears are ,god's ears1 ,i hear with the ears of spirit4 ,i am nonresistant and am willing to be led4 ,i hear glad tidings of great joy4 7,for ,right ,work7 ,i have a perfect work ,in a perfect way2 ,i give a perfect service ,for perfect pay4 7,for ,freedom from all ,bondage7 ,i cast this burden on the ,christ within1 and ,i go free6 ,illustration3 ,decoration 8,one secret of her success was that she was
