,,so ,,much ,,to ,,him ,,is ,,now ,,humbly ,,offered ,,just ,,before ,,we ,,begin ,at one time 7but ,i have changed my mind now7 ,i thought ,i was going to write a little ,note at the top of each of these poems1 in the manner of ,mr4 ,william ,wordsworth1 who liked to tell his readers where he was staying1 and which of his friends he was walking with1 and what he was thinking about1 when the idea of writing his poem came to him4 ,you will find some lines about a swan here1 if you get as far as that1 and ,i should have explained to you in the ,note that ,christopher ,robin1 who feeds this swan in the mornings1 has given him the name of 8,pooh40 ,this is a very fine name for a swan1 because1 if you call him and he doesn't come 7which is a thing swans are good at71 then you can pretend that you were just saying 8,pooh60 to show how little you wanted him4 ,well1 ,i should have told you that there are six cows who come down to ,pooh's lake every afternoon to drink1 and of course they say 8,moo0 as they come4 ,so ,i thought to myself one fine day1 walking with my friend ,christopher ,robin1 8,moo rhymes with ,pooh6 ,surely there is a bit of poetry to be got out of that80 ,well1 then1 ,i began to think about the swan on his lake2 and at first ,i thought how lucky it was that his name was ,pooh2 and then ,i didn't think about that any more 444 and the poem came quite differently from what ,i intended 444 and all ,i can say for it now is that1 if it hadn't been for ,christopher ,robin1 ,i shouldn't have written it2 which1 indeed1 is all ,i can say for any of the others4 ,so this is why these verses go about together1 because they are all friends of ,christopher ,robin2 and if ,i left out one because it was not quite like the one before1 then ,i should have to leave out the one before because it was not quite like the next1 which would be disappointing for them4 ,then there is another thing4 ,you may wonder sometimes who is supposed to be saying the verses4 ,is it the ,author1 that strange but uninteresting person1 or is it ,christopher ,robin1 or some other boy or girl1 or ,nurse1 or ,hoo8 ,if ,i had followed ,mr4 ,wordsworth's plan ,i could have explained this each time2 but1 as it is1 you will have to decide for yourselves4 ,if you are not quite sure1 then it is probably ,hoo4 ,i don't know if you have ever met ,hoo1 but he is one of those curious children who look four on ,monday1 and eight on ,tuesday1 and are really twenty-eight on ,saturday1 and you never know whether it is the day when he can pronounce his 8r's40 ,he had a great deal to do with these verses4 ,in fact1 you might almost say that this book is entirely the unaided work of ,christopher ,robin1 ,hoo1 and ,mr4 ,shepard1 who drew the pictures4 ,they have said 8,thank you0 politely to each other several times1 and now they say it to you for taking them into your house4 8,thank you so much for asking us4 ,we've come40 ,a4 ,a4 ,m4 ,illustration3 ,boy walking away from
