people who worked well with him1 and did all in their power to lessen his labours4 ,they were a prayerful people1 and thought no work too arduous1 and no sacrifice too great1 which would bring honour and glory to the ,saviour's name4 ,whilst in this state of peaceful prosperity1 the attention of this little flock was aroused by hearing of a new tenant1 who had come to reside at a farm1 two or three miles from the little village4 ,in due time he was visited1 but much to the astonishment and deep sorrow of the people1 they found him to be very sceptical in his notions2 nay1 worse1 he was all but an infidel4 ,great was their distress when they discovered this2 they did all in their power to try and make him see the truth4 ,tracts1 bibles1 and many other books were sent2 letters1 and invitations to attend the chapel1 but all of no use1 he took no notice1 and at last they almost gave way to despair1 for nothing seemed to move him4 ,one night1 after a public meeting in the little village chapel1 ,mr4 ,s--1 one of the members1 went into the vestry to the minister and said1 8,sir1 what must we do for ,mr4 ,r-- to make him see his danger8 8,nothing more10 replied the minister1 8can be done2 we have done all we can do1 and now we must leave it in the hands of our ,heavenly ,father40 ,mr4 ,s-- then went home1 but felt that he had not done all he could1 and would therefore try again4 ,he retired to his own room1 and paced up and down the whole night in great agony of mind4 ,no prayer would escape his lips1 but with his hands convulsively clasped and his head raised to heaven1 he inwardly wrestled with ,god in prayer for the conversion of his erring brother4 ,the following morning he saddled his horse and rode off to see ,mr4 ,r--1 who was busy at work in his fields4 ,he dismounted1 and after the usual salutations1 stood for a moment gazing at him without speaking4 ,he knew not how to say that which he had on his mind--he felt quite unnerved1 the tears came into his eyes and rolled one after the other down his cheeks1 but no words would come2 at last with a desperate effort he exclaimed--8,sir1 ,i'm greatly concerned about your soul40 ,then as if he were ashamed of shewing his emotion he hastily mounted his horse and rode off without another word4 ,mr4 ,r-- stood motionless after seeing this outburst of feeling1 repeating1 8,greatly concerned about my soul1 greatly concerned about my soul1 then surely it is time ,i began to be concerned myself40 ,he went on with his work1 and tried to forget what he had heard1 but the words still kept ringing in his ears1 8,i'm greatly concerned about your soul40 ,he went home and occupied himself with books1 and did all in his power to drive off what he considered disagreeable thoughts2 but on they came1 faster and faster1 allowing him no peace4 ,all that day and night1 that important sentence was uppermost in his mind1 and he lay tossing on his bed exclaiming--8,oh6 why am ,i not concerned about my own soul80 ,as soon as morning dawned1 he rose1 and having breakfasted1 went to the little village and called upon the minister4 ,he related what had passed1 and then said1 8,oh sir1 why am ,i not concerned about my soul1 and yet others are for me80 ,minister4 8,because you have never prayed to be made so40 ,mr4 ,r--4 8,but will ,he whom you call ,god1 answer the prayers of one who has never acknowledged ,him all his life80 ,minister4 8,yes1 if you ask in faith1 and for the sake of ,his ,son ,jesus ,christ4 #8,seek1 and ye shall find1 knock1 and it shall be opened unto you4'0 ,mr4 ,r-- then left1 but returned again in a few days saying that he had prayed earnestly to ,god to awaken him to a sense of his danger1 and he was now anxious to devote himself to his ,saviour4 ,minister4 8,do you believe in ,christ80 ,mr4 ,r--4 8,with all my heart40 ,minister4 8,are you willing to give up all to ,him if ,he should require it80 ,mr4 ,r--4 8,yes1 all40 ,minister4 8,how can you account for this great difference in your feelings in so abort a time80 ,mr4 ,r--4 8,after ,i had left you the other day1 ,i still kept pondering over those words1 #8,i'm greatly concerned about your soul1' but still did not feel very anxious myself4 ,i was more struck with the idea of a comparative stranger being so deeply anxious about what concerned me so little4 ,but ,i thought of what you had said1 and ,i began to pray4 ,suddenly a strange fear came upon me2 ,i felt ,i was in danger1 and needed some one to rescue me4 ,i continued almost agonizing in prayer1 #8,lord1 save1 or ,i perish2' and as ,i prayed1 ,he who stilled the tempest1 also stilled the tumult within my heart and gave me peace4 ,i felt ,him to be near unto me1 and even as ,jacob did1 ,i wrestled for a blessing4 ,i sought my bible1 and then the whole plan of salvation became clear unto me1 and now ,i want to begin to serve my ,maker with all my power40 ,time passed on1 and each day that once sceptical man grew in grace1 and in the knowledge of his ,saviour2 he became an earnest disciple1 and went about telling to the world around what a dear ,saviour he had found4 ,there we see an instance of how much good we may be the means of doing1 if we will only try4 ,seven words were the means of arousing that man4 ,the most lengthy and eloquent discourse will often fail1 but a few words spoken in love and with earnest prayer for their success1 may pierce the hardest heart4 ,unconverted reader6 ,i'm greatly concerned about your soul4 ,how do you intend to answer the questions put to you at the last day8 ,how will you dare to say1 ,i knew the way1 but ,i would not walk in it8 ,do you ever think of the future8 do you remember that there must be an end to your life1 and that you must live again either in happiness or misery8 ,oh6 stop and think2 ere you leap the fatal precipice1 pray for mercy6 and remember that you may live without ,christ1 but how will you die without ,him8 ,let me tell you again 8,i'm greatly concerned about your soul10 and earnestly pray that our ,heavenly ,father will1 ere it is too late1 make you concerned about your own soul4 ,m4 ,a4 ,c4 99 99 99 99 99 ,price #d;d4 per
