the real ,martian behind the scenes1 who dictated the contents of this book through the medium to ,mr4 ,kennon4 ,it was further stated that ,the medium was held in trance for short periods only1 as the medium must necessarily experience the atmosphere of ,mars which is more rarified than that of your ,earth4 ,writes also that the medium seemed to have some difficulty1 and at first pain in breathing while in the trance condition4 ,mr4 ,kennon also wrote in his foreword of the original book that it was not until ,january #d1 #aibj1 it was decided to write the book in which the ,planet ,mars1 its people1 its form of government1 its ,art1 ,industries1 ,philosophy of life1 etc4 would for the first time in the history of this world be given4 ,it appears that ,jesus the ,christed ,one of ,god visited the planets of our ,solar system1 the planet ,mars being one of those visited and investigated4 ,and1 as a proof of this it was ,jesus ,christ who functioned as chairman or presidentat the great ,peace ,conference held in the vast coliseum on the first sphere of the ,heavens of our ,earth4 ,that was in the year #aiab1 as fully reported in ,world of ,tomorrow1 page #ih4 ,it was at that conference ,he stated that ,universal ,peace must be speeded up1 as there were other planets to be investigated3 and that the ,earth stood in the way and was becoming a menace to neighboring planets4 ,,chapter ,i4 ,,the ,,planet ,,mars ,,and ,,its ,,inhabitants ,years ago1 as you measure time1 ,i was an inhabitant of ,mars1 your sister planet4 ,my name is ,eros ,urides 7the latter signifying of ,urid74 ,but a physical name is only an incidental in one's life4 ,in the ,spirit world we are given a name in accordance with our spiritual qualities and gifts and the kind of work we do4 ,i came into material being as the fruit of the sacred union of my parents4 ,it is not necessary to say aught concerning their social status1 for on ,mars all who unfold into a material expression of the ,father are equal4 ,equal in rank1 station1 and in possession of the material fruits of earth4 ,after my education had been completed ,i was1 in accordance with the ,martian system of scientifically determining one's rightful vocation1 assigned as overseer to a section of one of the main canals supplying water from the ,north ,polar cap to an impounding reservoir near the city of ,urid1 the place of my birth4 ,i was in the #cfth year 7,martian reckoning7 of my physical life on the planet when my transition occurred1 which event was the result of my inability to observe1 one night1 warning signals sent out from a central station advising the eve of a tremendous drop in temperature4 ,this occurred in the ,martian autumn1 and ,i succumbed to the intense cold4 ,i was not married1 so ,i left no immediate family except my parents1 brothers and sisters4 ,i have come to your ,earth to give your inhabitants some idea of the idealistic life lived by your more advanced brothers4 ,i use the term idealistic in a relative way only1 for in ,god's universe the degrees of material progress of ,his children are infinite in number4 ,in giving this information to the inhabitants of your world ,i have been assisted by the spirits of many former wise children of your ,earth4 ,the purpose of the information which ,i am about to impart to your people is mainly to stimulate and hasten into material expression the reign of ,god's kingdom on your ,earth4 ,many will reject this information1 but it is ,god's truth nevertheless4 ,but on the other hand1 many of ,god's children now functioning on your planet will accept the statements as true1 and they will be helped and encouraged in their hard struggle for material existence4 ,this struggle1 unequal as it is1 is the result of darkness engendered by the loss of faith in ,god4 ,man's faith in his ,creator1 in the ages preceding your present era of darkness1 was sublime4 ,man's attitude towards1 and his confidence in the promises of ,god was as the faith of a child to its parents1 whom it has always trusted4 ,but selfishness has gained the upper hand1 and is now man's master on your ,earth4 ,to break the chains now binding man to self is the purpose of ,god's holy emissaries1 who have descended from high spiritual spheres to your ,earth to teach and show men the way out of bondage4 ,they will succeed1 for ,omniscience has commanded it4 ,it is under their direction that ,i am now contributing my little part in this movement4 ,i am only too glad to have been able to give the information contained in this book1 and ,i also appreciate the assistance of all those on your ,earth plane who so willingly assisted2 but of course we are all obeying the ,father's command4 ,as life is an attribute of the entire universe1 the material aspect of all ,god's creations are the same4 ,that is1 life on another planet must be thought of as being no different from what experience teaches you4 ,all inspiration comes from the ,father4 ,hence1 the degree of a race's advancement in point of civilization is in proportion to its spiritual enfoldment4 ,therefore the material aspect of life1 which includes ,god's evolutionary and non-evolutionary creatures1 is the same on every habitable globe in limitless space4 ,in telling the story of ,mars you must be prepared to believe that1 from a physical point of view1 the ,martians are just human beings1 differing little from the people of your ,earth4 ,the same may be said concerning the activities of life enjoyed by all of ,god's creatures4 ,martians work and have their recreations4 ,they enjoy the fruits of their earth just as you do the fruits of yours4 ,they have invented labor-saving machinery1 and indulge in a multitude of industrial pursuits1 but with this difference3 their economic system is such that the life of the ,martian is not the struggle for existence you have created on your ,earth4 ,on the contrary it is a pleasurable life in which work is as much enjoyed as is recreation4 ,this condition is due to two causes4 ,first1 ,mars is much farther advanced as a world in its evolutionary career4 ,second1 the ,spiritual enfoldment of its inhabitants is proportionately advanced4 ,as the ,divine ,plan is universal in its scope the physical characteristics of ,mars1 compared to your ,earth are1 in a general way1 the same1 with the exceptions shown later in this book4 ,the inhabitants of ,mars enjoy a blue sky1 mountains1 hills1 rocks and dells1 clouds1 beautiful sunsets1 and in fact most of the physical phenomena witnessed by the dwellers of your ,earth4 ,the ,martians live and have their being just as your people do1 but they are surrounded by a different spiritual and a modified physical environment4 ,they take pleasure in music1 art and the study of physical science1 but with this difference3 the spiritual growth and enfoldment of the individual is considered as most important1 and all material advancement as only an aid to ultimate ends4 ,with main points in view the reader can now readily comprehend the real ,martian character1 although it may be a disappointment to some who have imagined the inhabitants of ,mars as physically different from themselves2 or perhaps1 as semi-spiritual entities1 who have possibly been transplanted from other worlds to undergo a sort of probationary life amid a ,paradise of beautiful surroundings and things4 ,,chapter ,,ii4 ,,population ,,centers1 ,,temperature1 ,,climate ,although ,mars is little more than half as large as your ,earth1 its diameter being #d1bjj miles1 it contains a larger area of habitable land than the latter1 its surface area being approximately #bab1jjj1jjj square miles as against #ea1jjj1jjj miles for your ,earth4 ,hence our globe supports a larger population about #ac1afj1jjj1jjj people4 ,your population is in the neighborhood of #a1fde1jjj1jjj4 ,your land area is #afa1jjj1jjj square miles less than the land area of ,mars4 ,this is for the reason that your oceans occupy a vast surface of your ,earth1 and ,mars has no oceans1 as these dried up ages ago4 ,consequently almost the entire surface of our planet 7with exception of some small areas covered with swamps1 remnants of ancient seas and oceans1 and portions of the extreme ,northerly and ,southerly ,polar caps7 is utilized by the ,martian inhabitants4 ,our planet is gridironed with canals1 many hundreds of the main ones being observable through your telescopes1 and the art of intensive farming is practised by us to a degree of perfection never dreamed of by the dwellers of your ,earth4 ,our winters1 even in the ,equatorial regions are severe1 the temperatures at times descending to as low as #hj degrees below zero4 ,however1 our springs1 summers1 and autumns are mild and nearly twice as long as your seasons1 for the ,martian year is #fhg days long4 ,we grow and mature many crops of necessary cereals1 fruits and vegetables during the spring and summer months1 so that want is never felt by our happy people4 ,our method of irrigation is somewhat different from that practised in the arid portions of your ,earth4 ,we do not1 except in a few instances1 flood our lands as you do4 ,owing to the fact that our atmosphere is much lighter than yours1 the normal air pressure being only about #h pounds to the square inch as against #ae pounds on your ,earth1 evaporation is very rapid1 and the dewfall1 as a consequence of much moisture being in the air1 is very great4 ,this heavy humidity also tends to prevent radiation of heat1 and the temperature at night does not drop exceedingly low1 although frost is not uncommon even in summer4 ,as our vegetation is acclimated and adapted to our environment no damage is done to growing crops by reason of these frosts4 ,the ,martians experience no difficulty in living in a rarified atmosphere4 ,neither have they abnormally developed lungs4 ,god has made ample provision for the comfort of ,his creatures throughout all of ,his infinite creations1 and we of ,mars are not excepted from this ,fatherly care and love4 ,should an inhabitant of your ,earth be suddenly transported to ,mars he could live but a few minutes1 for the reason that his lungs could not assimilate enough oxygen from our light atmosphere4 ,economy is a science with us4 ,nothing is wasted4 ,every possible square inch of ground produces food for man or beast4 ,even the north and south ,arctic regions1 after their seasonal thaws blossom forth with vegetal growth1 as astronomers on your ,earth have observed4 ,these regions produce their quota of food by being utilized as pasturage for our cattle4 ,immense amounts of forage are also gathered for the long ,martian winters1 when a greater portion of either the north or south hemisphere is covered with a mantle of snow4 ,the equatorial regions are always pleasant4 ,no severe wind storms are experienced on ,mars2 neither do we have lightning or other magnetic disturbances such as you experience4 ,as a corollary to the tranquility of our inhabitants living in peace1 ,love and harmony1 and the truths of ,god expressed in our everyday living1 the climate is equable1 the atmosphere clear and beautiful1 the sky serene and sapphire-blue3 the severest winds but gentle zephyrs wafted towards the equator from the more remote portions of our globe4 ,cloudy skies are rare and rainstorms few4 ,there is no lack of ,god's gifts on ,mars4 ,as intensive farming is a necessity on our planet1 plant food or fertilizing elements are plentiful4 ,one of the large white circular spots observed by your astronomers1 located in a region on ,mars named by them ,elysium1 and which has been a puzzle to all observers1 is an immense deposit of fertilizing chemicals4 ,an immense well is located in this particular spot which gushes forth a never-ending saline solution1 highly impregnated with sodium nitrate1 potash and other salts4 ,the country for many miles around is covered with a white precipitate which has been carried by the moist air and deposited on the ,martian earth4 ,these chemical compounds are refined and used to replenish the soil with plant food4 ,there are #aec1jjj centers of population on ,mars1 but these centers are not congested cities similar to those on your ,earth4 ,every individual has plenty of room to thrive and develop the best within him4 ,our cities are not crowded and our buildings are beautiful in their simplicity3 large and roomy1 with an abundance of sunlight and ample ventilation4 ,white marble and metals are employed for building purposes4 ,the inhabitants congregate in centers and1 owing to our more perfect methods of transportation1 go forth daily to their tasks in field or factory1 to return at the end of their allotted period to home and fireside4 ,,chapter ,,iii4 ,,the ,,martian ,,canal ,,system ,the ,canal system on ,mars is comparatively new4 ,the idea of constructing a planetary ,canal system had its incipiency at the time of ,christ's visit to our planet4 ,the ,master warned the people that they must make provision for their future water supply4 ,at that time 7#aj1jjj years ago7 the water supply was becoming noticeably scarcer as time went on4 ,it was nearly #c1jjj years after the ,master's mission to ,mars had been concluded that actual construction of the ,planetary ,canal system was undertaken2 and during the intervening #g1jjj years and up to the present time1 construction on the public waterways has continued4 ,at the present day the system is most complete1 but constant work is required to keep the canals in working order4 ,in addition to the gigantic ,canal system1 provision had to be made for suitable reservoirs to impound the water after the seasonal thaws at the poles4 ,to this end immense reservoirs were constructed at most canal intersections4 ,in some instances the reservoirs are established between parallel canals2 but in every case smaller canals1 or laterals1 always intersect at these points4 ,many of the canals on ,mars are double1 as they appear to your astronomers4 ,these double waterways parallel each other at a distance of about #ge miles4 ,the reason for this is that as the ,martian population is absolutely dependent upon the ,polar waters to irrigate their crops1 any accident to a canal1 such as a landslide stopping the regular flow of water or the breaking of a lock or gate1 would mean a very serious calamity to a great number of people4 ,and for that reason1 soon after the main canals were constructed1 second and parallel waterways were made for the purpose of guaranteeing an uninterrupted flow of water from the ,poles to the ,equatorial regions4 ,the result of this was that on many occasions the foresight of the ,martian engineers who had the water supply of the planet in charge1 saved immense areas from drought4 ,the rainfall on ,mars is almost nil and the immense population 7eight times larger than that of your ,earth7 is entirely dependent on the water supply from the melting ,polar caps4 ,water on ,mars is a most precious fluid and there is none to waste4 ,our oceans evaporated ages ago1 and outside of the precipitation of moisture at the poles in the form of snow1 none is to be had anywhere else on the planet except in very meager quantities4 ,the astronomer ,lowell of your ,earth1 who made a life study of our planet1 called these reservoirs ,oases1 but he was mistaken in his theory4 ,he concluded that these points1 which appear as round disks in the telescope1 were centers of population4 ,this conclusion is erroneous4 ,the centers of population on ,mars are scattered over the entire planet regardless of the position of the so-called ,oases4 ,it is quite true that owing to the rapid evaporation of water in the comparatively thin atmosphere of ,mars1 the dewfall for quite a radius from the center of the reservoirs is considerable1 with the result that vegetation springs up1 giving the ,oases the appearance of a diameter of about #ge miles4 ,the reservoirs are about #fj miles across and hold millions of gallons of water4 ,the same explanation may be given of the ,canals4 ,the dewfall on each side is extensive1 and the vegetal growth which extends the full length of the water-ways and for thousands of miles in some cases1 is most prolific4 ,the water in the canals1 in most instances1 is distributed by gravity2 but recourse is had to a lock system and to immense pumps for raising the water to proper levels4 ,the gates of the lock system and the pumps are operated by electricity1 the control of which energy is well understood by us4 ,in fact1 we are centuries ahead of your ,earth people in the knowledge of the use of ,electro-magnetic energy4 7,more will be given on the subject of ,electricity in a later chapter47 ,another source of mystery to your astronomers has been the appearance of triangular dark spots at the origin of some of the ,martian canals4 ,these have been referred to by your astronomer ,lowell as ,carets1 named so by reason of their peculiar shape4 ,these so-called ,carets are the thoughtful provision for the impounding of a season's supply of water4 ,in other words they are in part a lock system for raising water to the level of some of the main canals1 and embrace also a prodigious pumping system4 ,these so-called ,carets1 as the telescope will show1 are located at the edge of some of what appear to you as very dark areas on our planet4 ,these dark areas are ,mars' old sea bottoms1 and in many instances have been utilized by our engineers as natural reservoirs for water4 ,their convenient location near the ,poles has provided ideal facilities for the preservation of an adequate supply of water4 ,the construction of ,mars' gigantic ,canal system1 planetary in its extent1 might seem to your ,earth people an impossible task4 ,and it might prove so to your ,earth dwellers should you undertake a similar project in the ages to come when your seas dry up1 though it must be remembered that gravity on ,mars1 compared with your ,earth1 is as #ch to #ajj4 ,excavations of large waterways then becomes a comparatively easy task4 ,we have no high mountains on ,mars2 in fact1 none exceeding #c1jjj feet in altitude4 ,owing to the difference in gravity the angle of repose on ,mars is nearly acute as against #de degrees on your ,earth1 which permits of almost perpendicular walls to the canals and lessens the danger of landslides and cave-ins4 ,but above all1 the biggest advantage enjoyed by us in the construction of large public enterprises1 such as are embraced by our ,canal system1 is the solidarity and unity of purpose on the part of the ,martian people4 ,as ,love rules our planet no internal dissension or public misunderstanding exists among its people to retard any undertaking that is necessary for the good of all4 ,it is lamentable that the dwellers on your ,earth are divided against one another4 ,not only are your false ideals of racial1 sociological and religious distinctions a bar to your ,spiritual and material progress1 but your political and economic falsities are as millstones around your necks1 which will ultimately lead you to destruction unless you1 as a people1 retrace your steps and go back to the pathway pointed out by ,christ the ,master #b1jjj years ago1 when ,he came to your ,earth with a message from the ,most ,high4 ,the pathway is ,,love which leads to a true understanding of ,god and the ,kingdom referred to by ,christ4 ,the ,martian canals1 as telescopic observation will prove in almost all cases1 follow straight lines4 ,when necessary1 mountains have been cut through down to a proper level4 ,where the canals cross depressions or old sea-bottoms1 immense aqueducts have been constructed of solid stone and concrete in such a manner that the water1 in most cases1 flows to its destination by gravity4 ,that this has been a stupendous task may be more readily imagined when it is known that the width of the main canals averages from one to twenty miles4 ,this announcement might seem to many unreasonable1 but it must be remembered that the volume of water distributed over #bab1jjj1jjj square miles of territory is immense4 ,you might ask where this large volume of water comes from4 ,the ,,polar ,,caps6 ,during the ,martian winter these extend down nearly to the equator1 and cover about five-sevenths of the planet's surface when at maximum2 and as the snowfall averages from six inches at the edge of the caps to #ej feet at and near the actual ,poles1 some idea may be gained of the amount of moisture taken care of by these artificial waterways4 ,ten feet of snow will make #ab inches of water1 so there exists on ,mars an ample supply for all purposes4 7,,note--,the question as to why many of the canals germinate has been a perplexing one to our astronomers4 ,lowell observed that many of the main canals germinated a short time after the commencement of the ,martian summer1 and for a time it was thought that the phenomena might be an optical illusion1 and the latter theory was considered seriously by some observers until the double canals were actually photographed at the ,flagstaff observatory1 but the cause of the doubling was never solved until the receipt of these revelations47 ,,chapter ,,iv4 ,,planetary ,,economy ,economy is a virtue long cultivated on the ,planet ,mars4 ,on your ,earth you waste more than you use1 not only in food but in the fruits of the ,earth4 ,you are using up your resources at a tremendous rate1 and some day you must pay the penalty4 ,witness the wanton destruction of your beautiful forests1 the depletion of your coal beds and crude oil deposits4 ,all this waste is the result of lack of ,spiritual guidance2 a gross materialism3 an inordinate selfish greed4 ,instead of laying up ,spiritual treasures you are worshiping at the altar of ,mamon4 ,ultimately you will find your hoardings nothing but tarnished brass--an illusion leading you on to ,spiritual destruction4 ,with the ,martians the incentive to live is to express life and be in harmony with the ,creator1 to develop spiritually and build for ,eternity4 ,on ,mars each one strives to live for his brother to the end that all may inherit the promised ,kingdom when yet as a physical being4 ,commercialism with us is unknown1 for no one works for profit4 ,the products of the toil of all the inhabitants are for the public larder and other necessities and even luxuries4 ,as a result of this system of public economy and industrialism1 sweat-shops1 child labor1 poor houses1 public reformatories1 and the long list of pernicious and iniquitous customs in vogue on your ,earth are unknown on our planet4 ,no worries mar the life of the people of ,mars4 ,worry has no place in the ,martian mind4 ,the wants of all are supplied by the ,commonwealth1 and each one contributes his best efforts to the common good1 and in return each individual is supplied his every want4 ,this is in accordance with ,christ's message3 ,seek ye first the ,kingdom of ,god and ,his righteousness1 and all these things shall be added unto you4 ,,chapter ,v4 ,,property ,,and ,,property ,,rights ,on ,mars all property is considered as belonging to ,god1 its ,creator1 who provided it for the enfoldment and comfort of ,his creatures4 ,no individual lays claim to property in the sense that you ,earth dwellers do4 ,through ,god's love does man inhabit a portion of the material universe1 but only for a season4 ,man comes into material being to express life and acquire an individuality1 after which he passes out of material bondage1 when his place is taken by another4 ,at man's transition he takes with him only character1 nothing else4 ,if the things he has striven for during his material life have been but chimeras3 the material things of life3 the fruits of the ,earth1 then in that case he will find himself poor indeed4 ,the only real wealth1 the only thing worth striving for1 is a knowledge of ,god and ,his ,kingdom4 ,and with us ,martians a knowledge of ,god is the ultimate goal sought for4 ,hence all material things to the ,martian are but expedients1 soon to be forgotten4 ,material wealth is an abstraction4 ,its usual evidence is the possession of property1 which may be money1 land1 goods or chattels1 as the case may be4 ,in final analysis this concrete evidence of wealth is not real4 ,money is nothing more or less than a stamped token entitling the possessor to so much human effort1 for the real value behind money1 after all1 is but so much human energy or force1 varying according to its quality and its worth4 ,other forms of property such as goods and chattels1 are the result of human endeavor and may be secured by the exchange of money1 or it may be produced by the owner4 ,wealth represented by lands1 which were created by ,god for the benefit of all humankind1 and not for the individual1 is the so-called right-secured by barter1 exchange or inheritance1 to use or withhold from use1 at the caprice of the owner--of a certain piece or portion of the planet4 ,under a legal fiction the title to land extends to the center of the ,earth and to infinity in an opposite direction6 ,the text3 ,thou shalt earn thy bread by the sweat of thy brow has a deep significance to one who has come into a knowledge of ,truth4 ,drones have no place in the ,divine ,plan4 ,it is not only essential but mandatory1 that each one do his part for the common good4 ,the non-producing rich man is as much a drone as is the vagabond who neither toils nor spins4 ,the ,biblical test concerning the difficulty of the rich man getting into ,heaven means that it is impossible for a drone or parasite to get into harmony with ,god4 ,the possession of wealth is not in itself sinful1 but the possession of wealth is a corollary to selfishness4 ,he who is unselfish will spurn wealth4 ,the individual who accumulates beyond his needs sins against ,heaven when he locks up his goods in strong boxes4 ,the act of hoarding deprives some creature of his just portion1 for ,god has planned there should be sufficient for all who make the effort1 and a system that permits an unequal distribution of ,god's gifts is in opposition to the ,divine ,plan1 and doubly pernicious is a church organization that permits it4 ,only after ,christ has taken up ,his abode in the hearts of the people of your ,earth will surcease come to the suffering millions on your planet4 ,happiness and selfishness are so diametrically opposed that the former is impossible unless the latter is eliminated from your world1 for only real happiness comes after complete surrender to ,god4 ,surrender to ,god means subordination to ,his will4 ,his will on ,earth must be done as it is in ,heaven4 ,all must be self-conscious of this4 ,if ,god's will was adhered to on your ,earth what a different place it would be6 ,instead of a shambles it would be a paradise1 the brotherhood of man and the ,fatherhood of ,god a fact instead of the dream of a few4 ,god loves all ,his creatures1 both evolutionary and non-evolutionary4 ,his love is infinite in extent4 ,we are all ,his children4 ,everything has been provided for us4 ,it is only man's selfishness that deprives any creature of his just dues4 ,man suffers want on account of his lack of faith in ,god6 ,before man lost his faith in ,god he walked and communed with angels4 ,he could do it now if he would but listen to the ,voice ,within--if he would only open his heart to ,christ1 for help is ready whenever one asks for it in sincerity and faith4 ,one of the sources of great injustice to the majority of the inhabitants of your ,earth is the belief in the dogma of ,divine ,right4 ,this dogma includes not only the absurdity of the ,divine ,right of kings1 but the ,divine ,right to the ownership of goods and land through the ,creator's favoritism for a few4 ,this dogma is the mother of untold misery and suffering4 ,out of this ungodly theory has evolved your shameful caste system2 your shameful economic ideas4 ,your ancient feudal system of government has been but little improved upon today over its primitive status1 for you still draw well-defined lines of class distinction between ,god's children--lines of demarcation based on wealth and natal origin4 ,with your inhabitants1 communal standing and social distinction is proportionate to the wealth of the possessor or to the wealth or social standing of ancestors4 ,the monstrous heresy of ,divine ,right is an invention of the powers of darkness and must be eliminated from your world root and branch before your progress forward is assured4 ,god plays no favorites4 ,his love is showered upon all alike4 ,his gifts are for all ,his children4 ,it was never the ,divine intent that a favored few should bask in the sunshine of ,his grace while the majority suffered want and deprivation4 ,these false ideas have been the procurers of darkness3 of the ,stygian gloom now overshadowing your ,earth4 ,spiritual darkness has not always covered your ,earth4 ,in primitive times--ages ago--eras whose history has been lost to you1 man on your ,earth was in harmony with his ,creator4 ,this was in the ,golden ,age when man and the angels of ,god walked hand in hand2 when man communed with ,god1 and when the ,christ spirit was abiding in the hearts of the people4 ,in this age man was spiritually developed to a degree almost unbelievable by you4 ,then the time came when man listened to the temptor 7his baser self71 and through the workings of the law of ,atavism man degenerated almost to the level of his animal prototype4 ,this incident in your world's history is the source of the legend of the ,fall of ,man in the ,garden of ,eden4 ,man disobeyed ,god by listening to self1 by giving himself over to his selfish desires4 ,he slew his brother1 figuratively speaking1 when he abandoned himself to selfish ends and took advantage of his fellowman4 ,he has been guilty of that sin ever since4 ,,it ,,is ,,now ,,inherent ,,in ,,his ,,make-,,up2 ,,this ,,selfish ,,instinct ,,must ,,be ,,eliminated ,,before ,,he ,,can ,,again ,,find ,,the ,,father',s ,,kingdom4 ,no fences or other evidences of individual ownership surround the millions of homes on ,mars4 ,no lines of demarcation divide one plot of land from another4 ,the millions of beautiful homes--beautiful in their simplicity1 for over-ornamentation such as the dwellers of your ,earth practise1 is not tolerated on our planet--belong to the ,commonwealth4 ,the same are allotted to the individual as a life tenure only4 ,the same custom prevails in the matter of personal property4 ,should a ,martian have use for a flying machine1 also used by another1 or other kind of property for personal use1 he does not ask the use of same in the spirit that your ,earth dwellers borrow from one another4 ,use of the needed article is requested with the idea that it belongs to the community3 that all material possessions are the common property of the entire race4 ,,the ,,millions ,,of ,,martians ,,live ,,as ,,one ,,family4 ,,it ,,is ,,this ,,solidarity1 ,,this ,,filial ,,consideration ,,that ,,one ,,holds ,,for ,,the ,,other ,,that ,,has ,,made ,,the ,,stupendous ,,and ,,gigantic ,,public ,,works ,,on ,,mars ,,possible4 ,in the absence of a universal unity of purpose intelligent life on ,mars would have become extinct centuries ago1 when the last remnants of its oceans and seas dried up and a planetary irrigation system became necessary in order to utilize the frozen ,polar moisture4 ,,chapter ,,vi4 ,,distribution ,,of ,,commodities ,barter and trade are unknown on ,mars4 ,the entire race of ,martians is cooperative1 and the production of all necessities is based on the needs of the ,commonwealth4 ,specialization in different branches of industrial activity is centralized1 as is the case of your ,earth4 ,that is1 some particular parts of the planet1 owing to climatic and other conditions1 are better adapted for the production of some special kind of raw material used in the manufacture of clothes or other necessities of life1 or the production of some particular foodstuff4 ,but in every case the incentive for industrial activity is not material profit4 ,on the contrary the real incentive is compliance with the ,father's will4 ,transportation is effected by means of flying ships actuated by the control of gravitational attraction4 ,these vehicles of the air1 beside your crude affairs#a are most perfect1 and the amount of freight carried is unlimited1 for the reason that the gravitational attraction of the cargo is nullified as well as that of the ship4 7,a more extended explanation concerning this matter is given in another section of this book47 ,another motive power used is ,cosmic1 or ,universal ,energy4 7,we shall refer to this later47 ,immense warehouses and depots are scattered throughout the entire planet4 ,these are centers of distribution4 ,these warehouses are filled with what all the people of the entire planet need in the way of food1 clothing and other necessities of life4 ,these depots are in charge of trained and competent workers who attend to the issuance and distribution of all commodities4 ,when a ,martian is in need of any particular commodity he makes application to have his want supplied to the depot nearest to his habitation4 ,he immediately receives the needed article4 ,if the quantity and nature of his requisition is too large for him to carry personally1 the same is delivered at his domicile by the ,commonwealth's ,transportation ,department4 #a ,,note--,yes1 #ce years ago1 but not today1 #aiee4 ,,chapter ,,vii4 ,,clairvoyant ,,visions ,,of ,,mars ,in connection with the revelation contained in this book concerning the physical characteristics of ,mars1 the compiler of this volume1 as well also as the medium1 was given much information concerning this advanced planet by means of clairvoyant visions4 ,these pictures were given the writer at different times1 commencing early in #aibj1 and continuing until the book was finished4 ,as has been explained by the controls who have been instrumental in giving the information about ,mars1 the purpose of these clairvoyant pictures was to give the compiler of this book real visual evidence as to life on ,mars2 and in particular1 real pictures setting forth its topography1 which could be elucidated in no other way4 ,written descriptions of scenery and of human activities necessarily fall short of the reality1 especially when an attempt is made to record a series of events or a point of view outside the realm of our experience4 ,the first picture realized by the writer1 and for that matter the most important one1 was the view given him of ,urid the ,beautiful1 one of the most ,important centers of population on the planet ,mars4 ,it was while lying in bed one morning the writer was contemplating the many messages being received from the ,martian1 who is the dictator of the subject matter of this book1 that he found himself at a strange place1 suspended as it were in the air over a beautiful lake of blue water1 whose surface was broken by gentle ripples1 due to the soft1 balmy breeze blowing over the surface of the water4 ,the writer was facing what seemed to be a westerly direction2 and at a distance of about five miles there arose a series of small mountains about #b1ejj feet in altitude4 ,these mountains skirted the shores of the lake4 ,the sky was a beautiful blue1 bluer than the sapphire-tinted skies of our own desert lands4 ,the mountains were tinted red from base to top1 except where the moisture near the shores of the lake had stimulated a vegetal growth1 whose green contrasted most harmoniously with the red of the soil4 ,two white clouds floated majestically near the peaks of the highest mountains4 ,the atmosphere was impressively clear and all objects seemed to stand out in sharp definition1 a condition seldom seen by dwellers on our ,earth except in extremely dry and arid regions4 ,on top of a small plateau1 forming the crown of a low-lying hill at the base of one of the highest mountains1 and about #a1ejj feet from the shore line1 ,i was startled to see a large city4 ,the thousands of closely nestling buildings seemed to be built of white stone4 ,the writer was lost in admiration1 for there in front of him the pure white of the city1 contrasting so vividly with the red soil of this faraway planet1 stood the habitations of an advanced race many millions of miles removed from my own world4 ,the writer was impressed with the fact that1 with but few exceptions1 the buildings of gleaming white were all one story in height1 and it became instantly evident that crowding is not tolerated by the inhabitants of this progressive planet4 ,a few structures towered above the rest4 ,these1 as the writer was informed later1 were the public buildings dedicated to the use of the people as lecture halls1 centers for music and art1 etc4 ,on a subsequent occasion the writer was shown a close-up view of ,urid4 ,flowers1 grass and green foliage abounded everywhere4 ,the long streets were broad and well paved1 and flanked on two sides with long rows of one-storied buildings of white stone1 beautiful in their simplicity4 ,no extreme ornamentation is carried out in the erection of buildings on ,mars4 ,on the contrary1 the simple square outlines characteristic of our own ,old ,mission architecture seems to prevail on the planet ,mars4 ,the same simple style prevails with the public buildings1 except that massive stone columns marked the portals of same1 reminding one of our own early ,grecian architecture4 ,many palm-like trees grew all over the city1 especially in the neighborhood of the public buildings4 ,a week after the occurrence of the above incident the writer was shown1 in the same manner as before1 one of the many canals that gridiron the ,martian globe4 ,this particular canal is one of the main waterways on ,mars1 and appeared to be about a mile wide at the point of observation4 ,the water was of a deep blue color1 denoting great depth4 ,along the banks of this waterway could be seen many houseboats or floating dwellings4 ,some of these houseboats were very large and evidently housed large families4 ,the writer was informed that many ,martians who have charge of the waterways dwell in these habitations4 ,the banks above the canal were covered with green grass and many flowers4 ,on subsequent occasions ,i was shown other canals and reservoirs1 and the manner in which some of the canals were cut through the mountains4 ,in some instances the walls of the canals were almost perpendicular4 ,steep cuts1 even in soft ground1 seemed to be characteristic of all the waterways observed by the writer4 ,on another occasion the writer was given a view of the ,north ,polar regions4 ,at that time the deep snows that covered the ground everywhere were melting4 ,the country seemed to be very hilly4 ,as far as the eye could reach ,i observed low-lying hills covered with a white mantle of snow4 ,patches of reddish earth here and there indicated that the thaw was general and that the snow had thinned out in spots4 ,between the hills ,i observed a large body of water1 and was informed that this was an artificial reservoir which had been created by the damming of a large valley4 ,the sky on this occasion was hidden by a mist1 a very natural phenomenon in view of the fact that many thousands of square miles of the country1 covered with snow on this part of ,mars1 was undergoing a rapid thaw4 ,that the large dark-colored areas on ,mars1 supposed by early observers to be seas1 are nothing more or less than low1 swampy land covered with rank vegetation1 was evidenced to me on one occasion when ,i was permitted to see the true character of these portions of the planet4 ,the rank vegetation was about three feet high and of a greenish red color4 ,interspersed throughout the mass of coarse-leafed plants were high1 dry stalks the remnants of an earlier crop of ,martian flora4 ,the season seemed to be advanced and all plant life was taking on autumnal tints4 ,it was in ,december #aiai that ,i saw the first close-up picture of a ,martian--a woman4 ,her head was covered with a thin veil which came down to her well-formed mouth4 ,she seemed to be a most beautiful woman with most expressive eyes4 ,her hair was black4 ,her skin was unusually white1 which contrasted with the dark hair4 ,she wore no jewelry1 or other ornaments that ,i could see4 ,on a subsequent occasion ,i was permitted to see a ,martian male4 ,he was playing a flutelike instrument1 and as he was quite close to me ,i could observe the wax-like texture of his skin4 ,this semi-transparency of the skin is characteristic of the ,martians1 and evidences a life that is free from the many bodily ailments that afflict humanity on our ,earth4 ,the ,martian was dressed in graceful but loose-fitting clothes of a reddish-brown color4 ,his eyes were a deep blue and his lips seemed to be unusually red4 ,in respect to stature he was1 ,i would say1 about five feet nine inches in height4 ,in fact1 on subsequent occasions ,i have observed crowds of ,martians gathered together and they appeared no different from the inhabitants of our own world except as to clothing1 which is much simpler1 but more graceful than our styles4 ,i was informed by the spiritual control that the fauna of ,mars is varied1 but that all animal life is domesticated1 there being now no wild animals on the planet4 ,it was shortly after ,i had seen the ,martians1 described in the foregoing paragraph1 that ,i was shown two cat-like animals1 which at the time of my vision were engaged in playing about the feet of a ,martian4 ,they did not exactly resemble cats1 but were more feline than canine4 ,they were about the size of a large ,airedale1 and of a dark1 reddish-brown color with deep black stripes1 similar to the markings of our tigers4 ,they were very playful and cavorted about just as our own dogs and cats do when endeavoring to attract the attention of their masters4 ,on the morning of ,january #bj1 #aibj1 ,i was shown another ,martian canal4 ,on this occasion ,i observed a large building on the banks of the waterway near my point of vision4 ,this building was more of a grandstand with a roof than anything else ,i can compare it to4 ,it consisted of a large framework painted white1 and was as high as our two-storied structures4 ,a multitude of the people were inside the building1 some sitting1 some standing4 ,they all seemed to be intently gazing in a ,northerly direction1 up-stream4 ,much green foliage and varied-colored flowers lined the banks of the canal1 especially in the neighborhood of the building4 ,the people all seemed to be attired in holiday garb1 and it was evident to me that a celebration was going on4 ,later ,i was informed that what ,i had witnessed was an annual celebration observed by the people of ,mars on the occasion of arrival of the first water from the ,north ,pole after commencement of the ,martian ,spring4 ,it appears that this occasion is a very important event with the ,martians1 as the arrival of the life-giving moisture from the ,arctic and ,antarctic regions of the planet insures a season of plenty for the inhabitants4 ,the water arrives at the equatorial regions in a little less than a ,martian month 7#fj days7 after the commencement of the ,polar thaws and after a season of thanksgiving to the ,father has been held by all in appreciation of ,his bountiful gifts4 ,the ,spiritual leaders of the different communities preside at these gatherings4 ,the foregoing is in remarkable agreement with a statement on page #cge of the late ,professor ,lowell's book titled ,,mars1 as follows4 ,the ,canal quickening on ,mars occupied #eb days1 as evidenced by the successive vegetal darkenings which descend from latitude #gb degrees ,north and latitude #j1 a journey of #b1fej miles4 ,the rate of progression is remarkably uniform1 and this fact that it is carried from near the ,pole to the ,equator is sufficient tell-tale of extrinsic aid1 and the uniformity of the action increases its significance4 ,on the morning of ,january #ba ,i witnessed another interesting ,martian scene1 which was almost identical with the previous vision of the ,arctic regions of this planet1 except that the warm season was more advanced1 and ,i was permitted to see the country from another angle4 ,i was facing ,east4 ,most of the ,polar snow had disappeared1 and the low-lying hills were now covered with a growth of dark green vegetation1 except at a few isolated points which showed small patches of snow4 ,the sky was less misty than on the previous occasion4 ,on the evening of ,january #ba ,i was shown a flock of ,martian sheep4 ,the herd was small and ,i observed five of the animals at close range4 ,i call them sheep for the reason that the animals resembled our sheep in every particular4 ,the wool was very long and of a dark reddish-brown color1 except underneath their bellies which was yellowish4 ,on the evening of ,january #bi ,i had a vision of a beautiful woman with a child kneeling at her feet4 ,she was seated on a chair and held a book on her lap4 ,the symbolism of the vision was later explained to me by the controls1 who said3 ,verily ,i say unto you whosoever shall not receive the ,kingdom of ,god as a little child1 he shall not enter therein4 ,god's truths are perceived only by those who can acquire the simple faith of a child4 ,it was about the same time ,i had a vision in which ,i saw ,sergius for the first time distinctly4 ,he is the principal control dominating the writing of this book4 ,he appeared very patriarchal with a long beard4 ,his features were decidedly semitic4 ,his countenance was most spiritual and beautiful4 ,on ,february #aj ,i had my first vision of ,mars' two moons1 known to our astronomers as ,diemos and ,phobos4 ,the latter appeared as a satellite about half as large as our full moon1 and the former like a star brighter than the first magnitude1 and could be compared with ,jupiter as seen from our ,earth during a favorable opposition of that planet4 ,the latter satellite sheds considerable light on her primary4 ,an interesting explanation of these two moons will be found in a later chapter of this book4 ,on ,february #ag ,i was shown the actual appearance of our sun from the planet ,mars4 ,what ,i saw disproves the theory that owing to the distance of ,mars from the sun the latter would be viewed by the ,martians as a disk about half the size as seen from our ,earth4 ,the ,solar ,orb appeared as to size and brightness1 about the same as viewed from our ,earth1 and seemed to give forth its heat with the same intensity4 ,i was facing the sun and its brilliance blinded my eyes for an instant4 ,on the evening of ,february #bi ,i had a vision of a strange looking creature ape-like in appearance4 ,the form was about five feet tall1 very hairy1 his body being covered with a thick coat of woolly hair of a grayish color4 ,he was smoking what appeared to be a cigar-like roll of something1 probably some sort of leaves rolled up into a convenient form for smoking4 ,on the tips of his pointed ears were little tufts of long hair1 which gave his head a lynx-like appearance4 ,there were quite a number of large yellow spots on his hairy chest4 ,his nose was very stubby1 and his entire face was decidedly apelike4 ,i was later informed that ,i had seen an inhabitant of the planet ,mercury1 where life has not yet evolved to a very high degree1 and where man has not yet wholly emerged from his primary beast-like state4 ,concerning the flora of ,mars ,i have on various occasions viewed orchards of growing fruit trees4 ,the trees were set out in rows similar to the methods adopted in our own orchards4 ,the trees were dwarf-like1 being not over five or six feet high4 ,i was informed that this particular species of tree was cultivated for its fruit and for the fiber obtained from its large leaves1 which is made into cloth1 thread and cordage4 ,on one occasion a short time after the chapter dealing with the transmission of ,electro-magnetic energy by wireless was received1 ,i was shown two immense towers on the planet ,mars which are used for the purpose of distributing power throughout the planet4 ,the two towers were very close together1 probably #ajj yards apart and #ajj feet high4 ,they resembled two immense round smoke-stacks1 such as are common in our factory districts4 ,the tops of the towers were surmounted by oval caps1 transparent as if made from glass1 and protected by a system of grill work4 ,while ,i was intently observing the towers there occurred a blinding flash of light simultaneously from the two oval caps4 ,the surrounding country was covered with high trees1 and it was impossible for me to observe the base of the two structures4 ,,chapter ,,viii4 ,,knowledge ,,of ,,god ,,comes ,,from ,,within ,mars1 with its teeming millions of inhabitants1 whose dwellings1 factories1 storehouses1 etc4 cover most of the entire area1 has no watchmen1 policemen or other guardians of the peace to prevent unlawful acts on the part of its people4 ,as all property is considered as belonging to the ,father1 and is held in common by the people of the planet1 there exists no incentive for anyone to steal4 ,each individual has all he requires for his comfort4 ,hence1 why should anyone covet what is in the possession of his brother8 ,there is no temptation on ,mars for anyone to take more than he needs1 for selfishness has been entirely eliminated from our planet4 ,selfishness has no place among really civilized beings4 ,it is a relic of the jungle where it is necessary to perpetuate the lower animal life4 ,you of your ,earth have reverted or degenerated to a primordial condition or state through the law of ,atavism4 ,this is a part of your fall from ,divine ,grace4 ,and to induce man on your globe to realize his pitiful condition and redeem himself is the work of the ,spirits from the higher ,spheres who are now with you4 ,mars has no ,church system and no ,ecclesiastical ,hierarchy4 ,all ,martians recognize and worship one ,god1 the ,eternal ,father4 ,each individual is taught from infancy to seek ,god through the doors of his own soul1 which is an institutional faculty possessed by everyone4 ,jesus ,christ1 who came to your ,earth #b1jjj years ago with a message1 is known to us4 ,the ,christ is one of the greatest powers in the ,universe--next to the ,creator4 ,your sectarian church systems are a hindrance to the proper spiritual development of the individual4 ,these systems engender an element of dependability on the individual which holds back his spiritual enfoldment and perverts his true individuality1 which must grow and unfold before real progress upwards begins4 ,all knowledge of ,god should come from within and not through the instrumentality of imperfect individuals1 such as your religious teachers are4 ,the present lack of interest 7in #aibj7 in sectarian matters on the part of the inhabitants of your ,earth is evidence of a slow but sure disintegration of a system that has held your people in mental and spiritual bondage for centuries1 and presages the dawn of a better day for humanity on your ,earth4 ,,chapter ,,ix4 ,,mars ,,has ,,no ,,political ,,system ,when ,love rules a community of people there is no need of administrative bureaus for the regulation of the lives of the inhabitants who make up the population of a planet4 ,for the same reason ,mars has no gubernatorial or political administrative center4 ,this announcement may1 in a measure1 be a disappointment to many readers who have imagined that no considerable number of human beings could live and prosper without the aid and guidance of a complex administrative system such as you have on your ,earth4 ,bureaucracy and autocracy are evils resulting from an undeveloped civilization1 and have no place in a community where selfishness has been eliminated4 ,when each individual of a vast population1 such as that of ,mars1 is actuated and guided by the ,light ,within there is no need for a horde of political parasites to direct the destinies of the race4 ,this lack of an administrative system on ,mars also applies to its industrial and economic side4 ,the law of supply and demand determines just how many factories there should be1 and just what output is necessary for a given period4 ,but it must be remembered that the law of supply and demand on our planet has no relation to a competitive system such as yours1 for we have no competitor1 a fact that will be impressed elsewhere in this book4 ,it is true that certain of our people who have been specially singled out by the dominating influence of the ,invisible ,world are occasionally appealed to by those in doubt as to what is best for their individual welfare1 or the welfare of the community at large1 to act in advisory capacities4 ,these are the ,spiritual ,advisers of the planet1 and are really ,god's prophets4 ,there was a time when your race was guided by similar individuals1 as is evidenced from mention of them in your sacred ,scriptures4 ,but their usefulness was lost when man on your ,earth forgot ,god4 ,it was then that man mistrusted the ,light ,within1 and disregarded the unwritten laws graven in the soul by the ,creator4 ,he clamored for a ,code of ,laws and received them 7through ,moses74 ,his next downward step was taken when he admitted it was necessary to have interpreters of the ,law3 for if the spirit of the ,law had been kept there would have been no misunderstanding or juggling of the letter4 ,soon there was so much of this turning and twisting to suit man's growing selfishness1 that there was need for someone in authority over all the interpreters1 whose word should be final4 ,so your people cried aloud for ,kings4 ,and you have them1 and your law has grown to immense proportions1 as have also the clever sins of your selfishness4 ,,where ,,there ,,is ,,no ,,sin ,,there ,,is ,,no ,,need ,,of ,,laws2 ,,for ,,the ,,righteous ,,man ,,is ,a ,,law ,,unto ,,himself4 ,it must not be imagined that because of the lack of a political system on ,mars1 such as you deem necessary on your ,earth1 that all is chaos and life a sort of happy-go-lucky existence4 ,on the contrary1 the ,martian existence is controlled by the acme of system1 which is in accordance with the law of ,divine ,harmony4 ,a system from which has been eliminated all the useless wheels which so clog up your lives and make your progress slow indeed4 ,,chapter ,x4 ,,mars ,,is ,,ruled ,,by ,,love ,and now abideth ,faith1 ,hope and ,love3 these three2 but the greatest of these is ,,love4 ,paul to the ,corinthians4 ,,there ,,is ,,but ,,one ,,law ,,on ,,mars4 ,,that ,,law ,,is ,,love4 ,this law is not written in a code for the guidance of the people4 ,it is graven in the hearts of the inhabitants1 and is reflected in the countenance of every individual4 ,this law is the incentive before the entire population and urges each individual onward to the completion of the task before him4 ,there are no rulers to bow before3 neither is anyone better than his brother4 ,there is no evil1 for all are good3 all are equal4 ,god endows every individual expression of life with the ,divine ,heritage of a pure soul4 ,it is the individual's concern to keep this heavenly gift unstained in its descent into matter4 ,the love force of the ,spirit is the potent agent that does this for the individual when allowed to permeate and radiate the entire being4 ,when individuals have learned to bathe their innermost beings in the ,father's love1 then it must follow that a nation made up of such individuals will be governed only by such precepts as are evolved from this dominating ,love-force4 ,it is of no import to the individual on this planet what his particular task may be1 for all work is for the ,father2 and the humblest vocation 7humbler from the point of view of the dwellers on your ,earth7 is as important and as honorable as the highest4 ,,mars ,,is ,,ruled ,,by ,,love1 which is in accordance with the ,divine ,intent4 ,it is the desire of the ,father that every world in limitless space inhabited by ,his children be ruled by that ,divine ,principle4 ,for when ,love is the supreme law of a world1 as it is of the ,universe1 there is no need of a system of complex laws and a horde of judicial officers to interpret and enforce them4 ,when ,love enters into the life of a community selfishness makes its exit3 misery becomes a stranger and pain and sickness vanish4 ,from the cradle to transition the ,martian is dominated by ,love and guided by the ,father's will4 ,the result of this ,love-rule is individual and communal happiness4 ,but above all1 a ,spiritual progress that unfolds the individual in accordance with the ,cosmic ,intent4 ,to die1 in the sense of passing out of one's physical environment1 is the destiny of every created being4 ,hence1 in that sense1 death exists on ,mars as it does on your ,earth4 ,but the real death referred to by ,christ3 a ,spiritual death imposed on man by his fall from ,grace1 a penalty for having forgotten ,god1 is unknown on this planet ,mars4 ,we are in harmony with the ,father4 ,those who are spiritually dead are cut off from the ,father as a result of their indifference and ignorance of ,spiritual ,truth4 ,the religion of the ,martian may be expressed in two thoughts3 ,,love and ,,thy ,,will ,,be ,,done1 ,,not ,,mine4 ,the true definition of ,religion is a ,,rule ,,of ,,life1 and as our lives are guided entirely by ,love and the ,father's ,will4 ,,we ,,have ,a ,,religion4 ,you1 on your ,earth1 have created a ,religion to satisfy your conventionalities4 ,truth is simple1 but you have made it intricate4 ,it is free1 yet you buy it from the would-be disciples4 ,both you and we must approach ,him in simple faith3 ,unless ye become as little children ye cannot enter the ,kingdom of ,heaven4 ,speaking of children1 ,i desire to give expression to a thought that may appear to be outside the subject3 it is this3 ,the beauty and simplicity of youth is wonderful1 and to be admired by all3 but in the sight of the ,heavenly ,father1 and those who have progressed to higher realms1 it is not so wonderful as those older characters who have waded the marshes of life1 as it were1 and who have trod the dirty steps without losing faith4 ,this is to encourage those who sometimes think when they look back on their lives that all is dark4 ,their strength is being tried in the darkness4 ,therefore their courage and faith is so much more4 ,we who are giving you these messages have passed beyond the stage you are in1 and do not have to be tried on every hand4 ,we look upon you who are struggling through the pitfalls created by your false systems with pity1 knowing how great your trials are4 ,do not think that because we have gone on to higher planes of life that we are out of sympathy with you4 ,the more we bask in the sunshine of ,love the more tender we become to those in the shadow4 ,and if you would only realize how strong you are1 with the ,father's love and ,his real consideration for you1 you would try so much harder to better your condition by meeting ,his ,love with ,love4 ,we of ,mars have learnt to keep the right pictures before the minds of our youth that they may not be so sorely tried1 but on your planet you have not even the beginning of a system whereby there could be kept continually before the minds of your children the real goal to be striven for4 ,i make exception of the few homes on your planet where the parents are in spiritual growth1 but these homes are not ideal--just a beginning of ,idealism4 ,but they are better far than the masses in their home conditions on your planet4 ,now1 we are ready to do all we can towards stimulating the living of the ,christ-life among all souls in the ,universe when it can be so arranged3 but it will take aeons of time on some planets1 and many decades on yours before we can scientifically teach you4 ,to be sure1 we are giving you all we can for this book1 but it will not be universally accepted1 although it will bring great joy to those who have faith4 ,if you can keep some of the pictures we are giving you of the wonderful happiness we possess it will help you in the sordidness of your own life4 ,picture beautiful things and your heart must be beautiful4 ,strive with all your mind to hold beautiful thoughts1 for it is well worth your every effort towards faith4 ,,chapter ,,xi4 ,,education ,,and ,,training ,,of ,,the ,,individual ,the people of ,mars have a spoken and written language1 but not so filled with complexities as yours1 for the reason that owing to the high development of the mental faculties thoughts are almost as audible as words4 ,hence1 converse between individuals on our planet is not altogether a series of vocal ejaculations4 ,on the contrary1 among the older members of the race1 communication between individuals is in some cases audibly imperceptible4 ,printed books are used1 but mostly for the very young1 as information is usually transmitted impressionally4 ,education on ,mars begins at the mother's knee4 ,the first knowledge imparted to the young is ,spiritual4 ,the first lessons given to the child are3 ,one's absolute dependence on ,god1 and that the few years before the individual are but an unfoldment1 or an individualizing of the entity into a separate and distinct unit4 ,the ,spiritual lessons are amplified as the child grows and grasps these truths4 ,this procedure continues until the pupil is ready to enter an institution of learning4 ,,the ,,home ,,is ,,the ,,primary ,,school1 ,,just ,,as ,a ,,physical ,,existence ,,on ,a ,,planet ,,is ,,the ,,kindergarten ,,of ,a ,,never-,,ending ,,life4 ,,the ,,parents ,,are ,,the ,,first ,,teachers4 ,the primary education consists1 as already said1 in lessons on the necessity of expressing ,god in our lives in truth and righteousness in order that the mind of the individual be so moulded and fashioned that absolute faith is placed in ,god's promises through the ,master1 ,christ4 ,the keynote to the education of the individual is that one must first seek ,god's ,kingdom1 and that all knowledge and wisdom1 which is the ,divine ,heritage of all1 will be easily attained3 and that coming into a knowledge of ,god means health1 happiness and wisdom4 ,after the individual has grasped the primary lessons1 which result in an unfoldment of the spirit within1 he is then sent to a school2 but a school system different from anything you have on your ,earth4 ,the task of the teacher is1 not to teach knowledge but to assist in bringing out what is already latent in the soul1 rather than a set routine1 for every individual is considered a master in some line of thought and activity4 ,the pupil is led into knowledge instead of being taught directly4 ,the individual is left to his own tastes and volition4 ,the harmony of music of ,god's laws1 which embrace ,astronomy1 ,physics and of ,life1 together with a knowledge of the laws of ,electricity1 is especially brought to the attention of the individual4 ,you of the ,earth know as yet very little concerning the true nature of ,electricity4 ,your methods of handling and generating this wonderful force are crude indeed1 by comparison with the deep knowledge attained on ,mars with the subject4 ,and so with the study and development of the ,harmony of ,music1 we of ,mars have developed a high spiritual sense1 and are able to hear and see many intermediate degrees of vibration that do not exist at all for you4 ,of course there are some exceptions among the few of your ,earth who1 after having striven hard for light have been favored by ,god's angels in the development of a higher ,spirituality4 ,our teachers are guides who look after their charges in an atmosphere of ,love and1 as a result1 right conceptions of ,truth are acquired by the pupil4 ,thought is the expression or fruit of the ,spirit1 and ,martian children are never allowed to forget their ,spiritual growth4 ,as a consequence of this they are easily led into true knowledge1 and having a broad vision are able to see all things in their true relations4 ,they begin at the cause and work towards the effect1 which is the opposite of your system4 ,no set rules of discipline are used in the schools4 ,indeed they are not necessary for the reason that the one ideal3 the one goal impressed on the mind of the pupil is the complete expression of the ,father ,within1 for to express the ,father is to have perfect life1 life in abundance4 ,concentration of mind1 economy of time and energy are studied and learned by the child in the early part of his career4 ,astronomy on our planet offers an ideal field in seeking an understanding of the reign of immutable law through the ,infinite ,universe of ,god1 and owing to the clear rarified atmosphere of ,mars1 unusual opportunity is presented to students in visual observations of the ,heavens4 ,entire classes of advanced students1 accompanied by their teacher guides repair to the open at night when the canopy of ,god's ,heavens is ablaze with scintillating points of light4 ,the different constellations as viewed from our planet present the same general appearance as to configuration as they do to the dwellers on your ,earth2 but the view is decidedly more vivid by reason of a more advantageous viewpoint4 ,the so-called ,superior planets1 such as ,saturn1 ,jupiter1 some of the larger asteroids1 and ,uranus and ,neptune1 are nearer to ,mars than to ,earth1 and for that reason are more easily discerned from this vantage point4 ,some of the satellites of ,jupiter are easily seen with the naked eye4 ,your ,earth appears to us about as ,jupiter does to you1 and with our observing instruments we are able to see your continent and oceans when not covered by a cloud canopy4 ,as to the so-called ,inferior planets ,venus and ,mercury1 the former presents the appearance of a star of the first magnitude1 but being so near the sun it is only visible an hour before or after sunset1 depending upon its position4 ,but ,mercury1 being so near the ,solar ,orb1 it is rarely its position is favorable for observation from our planet1 and then only with our more perfect telescopes4 ,our students view the phenomena of eclipses of the sun and our planet with the greatest interest1 just as your astronomers do4 ,mars' two moons present what would appear to you a most striking phenomenon1 for one rises in the ,east and the other in the ,west1 passing each other at times within view of observers4 ,the most distant satellite of ,mars is known to us as ,laster1 to which has been given the name of ,deimos by the first observers on your ,earth4 ,approximately #acb hours elapse between its rising and setting at any particular point on our planet1 as a consequence of the fact that it revolves in #cj hours #ah minutes at a distance of #ad1fjj miles more or less from its primary2 and as ,mars rotates in #bd hours #cg minutes from ,east to ,west the motion is almost neutralized by the circulation of this satellite4 ,during the time of its rotation it changes four times from full to new and new to full4 ,the appearance of this satellite to the ,martians is equal1 if not a little brighter than the view of ,jupiter from your ,earth4 ,the second satellite1 known to us as ,benii1 and to your astronomers as ,phobos1 sheds considerable amount of light on the ,martian landscape by means of its large size and close proximity1 being distant about #c1gjj miles from the surface of ,mars4 ,this satellite is shut out from view beyond #fi degrees latitude by reason of the curvature of its primary4 ,its period is #g hours and #cj minutes--less than one-third the time of the rotation of ,mars4 ,it rises in the ,west and courses across the ,heavens in #aa hours1 during which time it undergoes one entire cycle of its phases and gets through half another4 ,its disc appears to us as a little more than half of the moon's disc on your ,earth at full appears to you4 ,the realm of ,physics presents another interesting study to the ,martian student4 ,we have advanced to the study of ,nature's laws to a point which would appear to your understanding most incomprehensible4 ,long ago we mastered the knowledge of the method of releasing ,interatomic ,energy1#b a knowledge which in the brain of an unscrupulous person would be most disastrous1 not only to himself but to those about him4 ,the energy locked up in an atom of matter is tremendous1 and the release of this power is only a matter of knowing the law4 ,the inhabitants of your world will have to bide a long time before the key that will release this giant is placed within their reach4 ,not until you have eliminated your inherent selfishness2 not before you have learnt the lesson as ,christ taught it will you be permitted to harness one of the mightiest forces in the universe1 a force equally as great for evil as it is for good4 ,this knowledge we have1 and we have utilized it in the construction and building of our mighty planetary projects4 ,this ,interatomic ,energy is the source of the sun's continuous heat4 ,if it were combustion the ,solar orb would have burnt itself out ages ago4 ,all your theories to account for the continuity of solar radiation are in error4 ,the release of ,interatomic ,energy in the sun at a definite rate is the reason why its heat never increases or diminishes though millions of years come and go in endless procession4 ,and this process is not the working of a blind1 senseless force1 some of your scientists would have you believe1 but the ,creator3 ,omnipotent1 ,omniscient1 ,omnipresent is the ,dominator3 the ,directing ,intelligence1 who sees to it that all is provided for ,his children4 ,on your ,earth you have thus far discovered some #he elements4 ,in order to complete the list of #ib1 to conform to the so-called ,periodic ,table1 there are yet seven elements to be found by your scientists4 ,on ,mars the most elementary school pupil is well informed on the subject1 and has knowledge of the complete list among the new elements yet to be discovered by your chemists1 and which exist in appreciable quantities on your ,earth1 is one which has the peculiar property of neutralizing ,gravity4 ,this neutralizing is accomplished by screening off the gravitational pull when interposed between the ,earth and the matter sought to be made immune from the attraction1 just as you would insulate against the flow of electricity by interposing a non-conductor between two conducting metals4 ,the knowledge and use of this element on ,mars has been utilized in the solution of our transportation problem4 ,instead of cumbersome railroads consuming energy at a great loss1 we use an almost perfect flying or floating ship4 ,it is made buoyant by being screened from the gravitational pull of the planet4#c ,another subject of importance1 that takes no little time to understand by the ,martian student is the part played by the planet's satellites in the generation of ,electro-,magnetic energy4 ,the sun together with its circulating family of planets is a huge ,electric motor1 so a planet and its satellites are minor generators of ,electric energy4 ,satellites have a higher importance and necessity than the mere creation of moonshine4 ,all the planets have their satellites1 although your astronomers have not yet discovered any in the case of ,mercury and ,venus4 ,the latter planet has a satellite whose distance is so close to its primary that its presence is lost in the intense reflection of light caused by ,venus' cloudy atmosphere1 which is much denser than that of your ,earth4 ,in the case of ,mercury1 owing to its extremely close proximity to the sun1 its satellite probably never will be seen by observers on your ,earth1 as it is lost in the intense brilliance cast by the ,solar ,orb on this planet4 #b ,the ,popular ,science ,monthly1 ,may1 #aibj1 printed the following--,sir ,oliver ,lodge thinks that man is not yet civilized enough to use the energy hidden in ordinary matter4 ,the time will come when atomic energy will take the place of coal as a source of power4 ,the man who spoke thus before the ,royal ,society of ,arts in ,london was ,sir ,oliver ,lodge--one of the towering figures in modern science1 a man who has devoted the better part of his life to the study and interpretation of the atom4 ,this new form of energy1 which our great-grandchildren may utilize instead of oil and coal1 has possibilities so appalling that ,sir ,oliver almost rejoices that we do not know how to release it4 ,i hope that the human race will not discover how to use this energy1 he says1 until it has brains and morality enough to use it properly1 because if the discovery is made by the wrong people this planet would be unsafe4 ,a force utterly disproportionate to the present source of ,power would be placed at the disposal ,or the world4 ,,note 7,by the ,editor in #aibj7--,this article was published more than two months after the revelation above was received1 but is another striking confirmation of the truth of these revelations4 #c ,in the ,february issue of the ,electrical ,experimenter1 7#aibj7 which was published about a month after this information was received by revelation1 the following article appeared--another startling confirmation of the truth contained herein1 and points to the possibility that whatever is possible on one planet1 is also possible on another1 depending upon that planet's type of civilization and real knowledge1 not superficial theory3 ,recently a cable dispatch from ,rome brought the announcement that ,prof4 ,maiorana discovered that lead balls swimming on a pool of mercury lost a certain amount of weight4 ,it was explained that the weight was lost due to a screening effect which the mercury produced on the lead balls4 ,in other words1 mercury acts as a sort of insulator against the earth's gravitational waves4 ,for gravitation certainly is propagated the same as other forms of energy1 i4e41 in wave form4 ,prof4 ,t4 ,j4 ,see1 famous investigator of ,mare ,island1 ,california1 in an address before the ,california ,academy of ,sciences1 announced recently that his researches on gravitation in #aiag and his latest researches on molecular forces confirmed ,maiorana's claim that the screening of gravitation has been shown to exist4 ,in #aiag1 says ,professor ,see1 ',i explained the fluctuation of the ,moon's main motion by the circular refraction of the sun's gravitation waves1 as they are propagated through the solid body of our earth at the time of lunar eclipses4' ',i found also from dealings with capillary forces that quicksilver is indeed very resistant to the waves which produce molecular action1 and this developed a new theory of the depression of the mercury in capillary tubes4 ,this would tend to confirm ,maiorana's claim that a basin of mercury beneath a suspended mass of lead may decrease the gravitation of the lead by a small amount4 ,my researches on ether show conclusively that gravitation is due to waves in the ether1 and certain very resistant bodies in the line of action may thus introduce a slight screening effect4' ,this reasoning opens up new avenues of thought of what may be accomplished in the future when we have found a perfect screen against gravitation4 ,,chapter ,,xii4 ,,education ,,and ,,training ,,of ,,the ,,individual1 ,,vocational ,,determination1 ,,school ,,age1 ,,marriage ,,and ,,science 7,continued7 ,everyone goes to school until the age of #af1 that is1 the length of time on ,mars would correspond to #cb years on your ,earth4 ,the ,martian year is nearly twice as long as on your globe4 ,there are many universities on ,mars where students enter direct from their homes1 where the primary and preparatory education is first inculcated in their minds4 ,wonderful teachers have charge of the students1 and many truths not yet known on your ,earth are taught4 ,special and particular attention is given to the subject of the development of ,spiritual gifts to the end that all may come into man's ,divine ,heritage1 the ,,peace1 ,,power ,,and ,,plenty of the ,,kingdom ,,of ,,god4 ,each student is selected for his or her proper vocation1 and this vocation is determined scientifically and accurately1 for what benefits the individual also benefits the entire community4 ,each individual is trained to perform his part in a manner that will ensure the unity and harmony of the entire industrial system of the planet1 and each unit understands the dignity and importance of his position1 no matter what that position may be1 for on ,mars no activity of human endeavor is considered menial2 no one position in life is less important than the rest3 all is ,god's work4 ,and so each gravitates to his special liking in the realm of physical activity1 for ,god has created each individual for some particular work4 ,six hours is a day's work1 the remainder of the time is devoted to recreation1 music1 lectures1 and those general activities that best develop the highest spiritualities with the individual4 ,for the ,martians realize that life on the material plane is but temporary the isolation of the individual ,divine ,spark from the ,infinite whole to the end that the personality may become for all ,eternity self-conscious and in harmony with ,god1 which means the inheritance of ,god's ,kingdom for all time4 ,failure to come into harmony with ,god is destruction of the individuality1 but not of the ,divine in man1 for that is indestructible3 it always was and always will be4 ,education on ,mars is inculcated with a view principally of developing the individual spiritually in order to prepare one for the spiritual progress after the completion of the material probationary period as well as having life in greatest abundance during that period1 and with this main end in view the subject of marriage1 the rearing of children1 receives special consideration and attention4 ,the pivotal idea is that when the time for mating arrives the selection of a wife by the prospective husband must be in accordance with true conjugal harmony1 and this is not possible in the absence of ,spiritual development4 ,hence1 divorces are unknown with us1 and to that end is special care taken in the matter of teaching the truth concerning the marital relation1 the rearing of children and their ,spiritual growth4 ,the marriage age for both sexes is about #ce years1 in terms of your time measurements4 ,the result of this early training is that the young couple just embarked on the ,sea of ,matrimony1 are true mates and go through life without the usual occurrence of domestic turmoil so characteristic of your ,earth's people4 ,marriage on your ,earth1 with but few exceptions1 has degenerated from ,god's holiest of institutions to a happy convenience for the gratification of the animal passions2 and the rearing of children is an accident rather than a preconceived reality4 ,such marriages are unholy and destructive1 and unless your people respond to a ,spiritual awakening such as ,god's workers are now trying to inaugurate on your ,earth the growing degeneracy will be augmented rather than diminished and the extinction of the race will be inevitable4 ,the curriculum of our schools embraces all branches of ,domestic ,science1 as well as all the sciences1 with the difference from your system that ,spiritual development must be the principal task of those having supervision over the studies of the young4 ,one of the subdivisions of ,domestic ,science receiving particular attention on ,mars is the ,,preparation ,,of ,,foods4 ,with an atmospheric pressure of only eight pounds to the square inch1 water boils at #age degrees on our planet4 ,this temperature is inadequate for cooking foods properly1 especially the coarser varieties4 ,but recourse is had to the cooking of food in vacuum or under pressure1 as the exigencies of the occasion demand4 ,electrical energy is used most generally for producing heat1 and the variety of foods1 both animal and vegetal1 are as extensive as on your planet1 for the flora and fauna of ,mars differs little from yours4 ,martians are not excessive eaters1 as their bodies do not require the gross foods so characteristic of your ,earth4 ,there are two reasons for this4 ,in the first place the difference in the gravitational pull on ,mars being thirty-eight one-hundredths to that of your ,earth1 obviates the necessity of supplying as much fuel to the human body as your physical make-up demands4 ,in the second place the ,martians partake of food to keep the body alive1 and not for the vulgar pleasure afforded by the consumption of victuals4 ,we eat to live3 whereas most of your ,earth tenants live to eat4 ,although each individual has his particular place in the universe where he will excel in some kind of activity1 there being no two persons in all ,creation exactly alike1 the student on ,mars is given an opportunity to obtain a broad and comprehensive knowledge relating to all subjects1 both material and spiritual4 ,the study of matter1 divided as it is into a number of elements1 offers an interesting field for study and research work1 as does also its concomitant ,cosmic ,energy4 ,compared to your ,earth1 industry on ,mars1 by the aid of labor-saving devices is perfect3 and as a consequence the use of energy is considerable1 especially so in the realm of ,synthetic ,chemistry4 ,but it must be understood that the individual is taught that dependence must be placed rather on one's own dexterity1 born of that ,god-given faculty of ,intuition1 than on the perfectness of a man-made machine1 the creation of finite mind4 ,for it has so happened to races on other planets that complete degeneration and final extinction has come about by the entire dependence of the individual and afterwards of the entire race1 on machinery to do the work required of the individual by the ,creator1 such dependence finally terminating in almost complete atrophy of the worker's intuitional faculties4 ,this calamity will surely overtake your future generations if a halt is not called on the over-zealous adoption of automatic machines for most every line of industrial activity4 ,you are now getting to the stage where the most simple and elementary mathematical problems are solved by merely pressing a few buttons or turning a crank1 the operator understanding little or nothing of the fundamentals underlying the solution of the problems in hand4 ,this means1 in the near future1 brain atrophy through disuse4 ,and so with other lines of industrial activity4 ,not one among a thousand workers engaged in making shoes can do other than make a heel or perform some simple operation1 one of hundreds of units in the completion of a pair of shoes4 ,and perhaps it would be impossible to find one individual whose intuitional faculties were developed to the extent that he could turn out the perfect1 completed article4 ,in order to explain how far we have succeeded on ,mars in harnessing a mighty universal force to the end of utilizing the same in turning our factory wheels1 lighting our domiciles and giving warmth to our homes in winter1 it might not be amiss to state a few facts concerning our knowledge of matter and energy4 ,we have learned that material life simply amounts to functioning in an ,effect world4 ,the ,cause world is the ,reality which is invisible to all while hampered with a physical body2 that all forms of matter are but the manifestation of the same ultimate ,essence2 that this ,essence is but a ,divine ,impulse--a thrust1 as it were1 in the ,ether4 ,that although we observe with our sensory organs many different kinds of matter1 consisting of elements and compounds of elements3 if we were able to resolve any of the different forms of matter before us into their ultimate units1 these ultimate particles would all turn out to be the same thing1 the ,divine ,impulses just mentioned4 ,now you can best grasp the idea by imagining yourselves immersed in an ,infinite sea of such ,divine ,impulses1 just as a fish is immersed in an ocean of water4 ,everywhere1 all about us1 is a teeming maelstrom of motion4 ,there is not a cubic centimeter of space that you can call at rest4 ,all is eternal motion4 ,all is ,energy4 ,and out of this inexhaustible ,cosmic ,reservoir do we ,martians draw our energy4 ,and as the ,divine ,impulse is the ultimate essence of all matter and all energy1 therefore you might imagine matter in its different aspects as ,electrical in origin4 ,as ,electricity is a manifestation of the ,divine ,impulse1 then the only ,reality in the ,universe is ,,god4 ,we have learned to utilize this ,cosmic ,energy by getting into harmony with its origin--,,god--for only through ,god can true knowledge be obtained4 ,on your ,earth you have devised a very crude method for utilizing ,electrical ,energy4 ,you expend more energy by burning coal or using water power than you derive from your electrical pump3 for a dynamo is nothing more than a pump4 ,your machines do not generate electrical power for1 as stated before you are immersed in an ,infinite sea of energy4 ,on ,mars we have learned to draw directly on this ,infinite reservoir of energy4 ,we have learned the law as you some day must4 ,located at convenient points on our planet are high towers1 capped with suitable receiving apparatus4 ,in turn this energy is transmitted to different parts of our globe where it is used4 ,we do not require wires to transmit energy4 ,our landscape is neither disfigured with unsightly wires1 nor is it covered with a pall of black smoke4 ,we devised a more perfect method of power production and transmission4 ,the relativity of time1 space1 motion and matter is an actuality brought to the attention of advanced students on ,mars4 ,an understanding of this truth exemplifies the unreality of the world of gross matter and the importance of gaining knowledge concerning ,spiritual truths2 for the latter are the only real tangible treasures worthy of one's efforts in their acquisition4 ,already a knowledge of these truths is beginning to be sought for by some of the more spiritually enlightened inhabitants of your ,earth2 but so immersed in the unreal things of life is the vast majority of your ,earth people that it will take a long time before the present seed-sowing toward this end will bear fruit4 ,the seed-sowing referred to is the work of enlightenment now going on by a mighty group of ,spiritual intelligences who1 at the present day1 have in hand the task of ,spiritual reformation on your ,earth4 ,only ,truth can stand in the end4 ,all that is unreal or false must ultimately give way to truth1 and ,omniscience has willed that the day when error shall be no more shall be hastened4 ,there are other planes of existence for the ,spirit3 many of them4 ,but they are simply extensions beyond your limited vision2 for as long as you function in a world of unreality and error your ,spiritual vision is incapable of discerning what lies beyond your present horizon1 and must remain dormant4 ,material eyes are but the windows of the ,soul1 and your environment has so beclouded your vision that you grasp but little of the real things beyond4 ,,chapter ,,xiii4 ,,music ,,an ,,expression ,,of ,,the ,,father ,all material expressions of the ,father1 from the simplest chemical element to the most complex compound2 from the one-celled protoplasmic life germ to the most complex organism1 are ,vibratory in their ultimate nature4 ,as has been stated elsewhere in this book1 material life is the vibratory reflection from the ,cause world into an ,effect world4 ,the universe is a vibratory expression of an absolute ,reality--,,god3 a material expression of ,divine ,harmony4 ,and as ,harmony is an expression of the ,father1 its antithesis1 ,discord1 is the creation of man4 ,of all the vibrations that more fully express the ,father and arouse the ,emotional within the soul1 ,music must of necessity head the list4 ,owing to man's degeneration or fall1 on your ,earth1 he has lost all receptibility to the more refined vibratory tones of the chromatic scale4 ,and for the same reason he has lost receptibility to intermediate vibrations in the ,,color spectrum1 which has clouded or stultified his visional faculties4 ,the long waves of the ,infra-red and the short waves of the ,ultra-violet ends of the spectrum are invisible to your ,earth people except in rare cases of developed mediumship1 though your photograph plates are somewhat sensitive to these vibrations4 ,you are immersed in commercialism and other selfish pursuits while all around you is a beautiful ,,rainbow ,,universe1 vibrating with music too heavenly for your dulled perceptions to enjoy4 ,on ,mars the development of the ,musical talent is held to be of primary importance4 ,the laws of ,harmony are part of the curriculum of all schools1 and all necessary paraphernalia for its proper exposition are provided4 ,we have instruments for measuring tone vibrations of so delicate a pitch that the existence of these tones would be a blank to the gross material ears of the inhabitants of your world4 ,music arouses the innermost emotions of the soul and its effect on the individual is proportionate to his degree of spiritual development4 ,music is harmony1 but it also creates an atmosphere of harmony4 ,the music of the spheres is a living reality1 for ,harmony is the very essence of the ,cosmos4 ,by ,music of the ,spheres is meant the harmonious interrelation of all spiritual planes4 ,every unit in the universe is in perfect accord one with the other1 and all are functioning in perfect unison4 ,every ,solar ,orb and every ,planet responds to ,harmonious law4 ,the ,cosmos as a whole is the expression of a ,divine ,symphony4 ,when man's spiritual progress has attained a degree of enfoldment entitling him to come into possession of his ,divine ,heritage then will the sublime vibrations of the spheres be a reality to him4 ,on ,mars divers instruments are used for producing musical harmony1 and much of this harmony is of such a subtle nature that your crude instruments could not give expression to it4 ,we have a means of producing harmony of the highest order by utilizing ,ethereal ,electric ,vibration which produces light vibrations corresponding to tone production1 for true ,electric ,vibration is real music4 ,this device resembles a series of globes1 all transparent1 colorless when not in action4 ,but immediately they are allowed to produce music they become units of color and tone work that would give you the impression of ,,seeing ,,and ,,hearing ,a ,,rainbow ,,simultaneously4 ,you are not ready to receive the scientific explanation of this phenomenon1 but we are ready to give it to you at any time4 ,singing is also highly developed on our planet1 for it is the first expression of harmony that the child is taught4 ,this is true for the reason that vocal music is the most natural expression of harmonious vibrations4 ,much time is devoted to ensemble work among our people of all ages4 ,this chorus work is of great benefit to all partaking1 for individually and collectively much inspiration is received2 and the tremendous ,love-force loosened by this united expression of harmony becomes a phenomenal power and stimulus--a purifying agent for soul and body4 ,this will help you to realize why disease is unknown to us4 ,in the development of the musical talents of the individual on ,mars the pupil is impressed with the necessity of expressing the true self1 and the original improvisation or composition is the method by which the pupil expresses his understanding of the subject4 ,no one attempts to ape the technique or genius of another1 for on ,mars all are geniuses4 ,this is true in every form of activity4 ,all must be creators to express individuality4 ,when an individual on ,mars has surpassed all others in some special expression of ,divine ,harmony the product of his genius is for the benefit of all1 hence copyrights and patents are unknown on our planet4 ,,chapter ,,xiv ,,aeronautics1 ,,inhabited ,,planets1 ,,sectarianism ,a great deal of interest is being manifested in your city this morning 7,april #be1 #aibj71 over the ,aeronautical ,show4 ,you imagine the ,flying machines wonderful mechanisms2 but in their present state they will not lift you out of your atmosphere4 ,you have yet to perfect a real airship4 ,your ,flying machines are cumbersome and awkward1 and they consume lots of fuel and make a deal of noise4 ,it can hardly be said they are harmonious with the music of the spheres1 but then it is only a sample of your ,earth's development4 ,you have seen the seagulls soar over the water seemingly without motion2 and yet they go up and down1 turning this way and that without effort4 ,this is the best idea ,i can give you of our airships1 which really soar4 ,no sound1 no discordant vibrations disturb the quiet of the ,martian atmosphere1 and the tranquility of the ,mars people4 ,when you have learned the secret of how to tap the ,universal ,reservoir of ,cosmic ,power1 then will you evolve a perfect ,flying machine such as we have4 ,a great deal of interest is also being centered on an attempt to signal ,mars1 and your apparatus is not fine enough to receive our waves4 ,but success will come to you in another decade1 and we will be able to get something through for your scientific world4 ,it is gratifying to know that a large portion of your population entertain the belief that ,mars is inhabited3 and also that the possibilities point to the fact that other planets are inhabited4 ,you have advanced a long way to come to that belief1 but you are yet a long way from the truth4 ,you are on the eve of an awakening and much will come through the discoveries of scientists who are devoting their lives to the study of ,truth4 ,it is true that only a few of that number are bold enough to proclaim all they discover1 and they must bear the brunt of much harsh criticism4 ,in the end1 however1 ignorance must give way to ,light4 ,we look upon your inventions with much amusement1 and yet with great interest1 just as you would look upon your children's finest toys4 ,we are much older than you and are doing all we can to help your scientists by impressing them with thoughts that will lead them to discover new truths1 and our interest never flags4 ,how could it if we are doing the ,father's work8 ,for it is the ,father's great pleasure to give ,his children all they can receive4 ,if you could cut loose from your world conventions and could perceive new ideas2 if you would but disregard man-made theories and open your minds and souls to the ,father's ,revelations1 it would not be long before your sin-cursed and forsaken ,earth would be changed into a ,paradise4 ,but the tendency among you if to think as your forefathers thought rather than cut new paths4 ,however1 your children of this generation are of a different sort1 and they must be taught the importance of ,,developing ,,the ,,spiritual ,,intellect4 ,there is ,,more ,,individualism being born into the world today than ever before4 ,,there ,,are ,,fewer ,,children1 ,,but ,,they ,,are ,,stronger 7the year #aibj74 ,,these ,,children1 ,,with ,,their ,,originality ,,and ,,esoteric ,,tendencies ,,will ,,bring ,,on ,a ,,revolution ,,on ,,your ,,planet ,,that ,,will ,,end ,,by ,,destroying ,,your ,,threadbare ,,dogmatism4 ,this tendency is evidenced by the recent failure of the ,interchurch movement4 ,it has been the habit on your planet that you cannot accomplish anything without raising immense sums of money4 ,it is not money that does the real work but rather ,,personal ,,service4 ,people are inclined to give almost everything than personal service4 ,if each person lived the ,christ ,life there would be no need of money4 ,a close study of the ,mars ,economic system will demonstrate that truth4 ,,chapter ,,xv4 ,,life ,,an ,,attribute ,,of ,,the ,,entire ,,universe4 ,,the ,,planet ,,jupiter ,,life ,,is ,,an ,,attribute ,,of ,,the ,,entire ,,universe4 ,go forth on a moonless night and behold the firmament emblazoned with its myriad of scintillating stars1 solar orbs1 nebulae1 world-systems in the making3 the galactic circle1 a jeweled band athwart the canopy of ,heaven2 a seething maelstrom of ,light3 countless suns in space all expressing the one reality1 ,,omniscience4 ,only presumptuous man can question the ,divine ,intent in the creation of the ,infinite number of giant suns1 stupendous worldwide systems1 and place his particular world-unit at the center of the ,cosmos4 ,man contemplates this handiwork of ,god as a mere adjunct 7more ornamental than useful7 to his terrestrial environment1 conceitedly thinking that the ,father's only consideration is centered about himself4 ,as these life-giving orbs are countless in number1 their orbits extending as they do to ,infinity in all directions1 so is it with the habitable worlds in space4 ,some there are where life is not yet possible3 worlds not yet far removed from their primitive state3 not long since condensed from fire mist3 others where life has just begun3 others on whose surfaces live teeming millions of ,god's creatures1 just as you live and others have lived before you4 ,and there are other worlds whose life-cycle has been run2 where intelligent life has ceased3 where world-disintegration has set in4 ,for this is in accordance with the universal law of ,growth and ,decay--a law that exempts neither the one-celled amoeba1 nor the complex ,solar system whirling yonder in ,infinite space4 ,for all that comes from the ,father into material expression must some day revert to its primordial state4 ,you have thus far received much concerning the idealistic conditions on ,mars1 whose planetary career is now reaching the zenith of its ,cosmic cycle1 and whose denizens have progressed to a degree of ,divine unfoldment not yet attained by many worlds4 ,it is necessary that you now receive some information relating to one of the less-advanced planets belonging to the family of our sun1 in order you may be able to learn by contrast something of the wonders of ,god's work4 ,,jupiter1 owing to its prodigious size1 being nearly eleven times larger than your ,earth1 but whose density is proportionately less1 might well be styled the ,master ,planet of our system4 ,jupiter is well blessed with satellites1 having eight1 a description of which is not necessary at this time4 ,this planet is in what might be styled its primary evolutionary stage where life has just begun4 ,this life has not evolved beyond the unicellular1 or amoebic stage2 and it will be only after the lapse of a long period of time1 measured in ,geological units1 when more complex organisms will appear3 and many of these periods will come and go before this planet's surface will have attained a proper development for the propagation of intelligences capable of being classed with the denizens of your ,earth4 ,long before that age arrives ,jupiter's surface and atmosphere will undergo a tremendous change4 ,mighty planetary cataclysms will raise new mountain ranges2 new continents will appear1 and the present land surfaces on this planet will sink1 to be covered with slime and water1 to rise again in the centuries to come1 for the ,father's love and solicitude will provide1 as it has in the case of all ,his ,celestial ,creations1 a bountiful supply of stored-up radiant energy1 such as coal and petroleum1 and other elements1 for the comfort of those who will inhabit this giant among the worlds of this system in time to come4 ,jupiter still retains much of its internal heat1 which gives this planet a very high mean temperature4 ,its atmosphere is still very dense1 and owing to the very rapid evaporation of water due to the extreme heat a constant cloud canopy covers its surface1 which only dissipates occasionally in a slight degree1 at which times only the sun penetrates to the surface of the globe4 ,by reason of the constant thick cloud canopy over the surface of ,jupiter the planet is enveloped in deep gloom and darkness4 ,as radiation is arrested to a marked degree by the clouds and atmosphere the temperature is very humid as well as hot4 ,in this steam environment grow forests of fern and fungus-like trees and rank vegetal growths which will in the course of time be preserved as coal for the races destined to inhabit this planet4 ,this vegetal growth is a flora that knows not bloom or seed1 but is propagated by root and spores1 a flora most primitive in type1 but which will in time evolve through the law of mutation and adaptation into a diversified and useful vegetal kingdom for the races yet to come on the planet4 ,owing to the tremendous gravitational pull on ,jupiter present organisms are1 and future ones will be evolved along specially modified lines1 in order that they may encompass the least possible volume1 just as the denizens of the extreme depths of your oceans have evolved4 ,the modification is necessary that organisms mat be able to function on a planet where the difference in gravity is as one to three compared with your ,earth4 ,in other words a minimum density is necessary to produce maximum lightness4 ,as there is no lesser or greater in the economy of ,nature 7,nature is ,god ,manifest71 the most infinitesimal mote in the universe is as perfect within itself as is the most gigantic sun4 ,size is but relative4 ,the anatomy of the midget is as perfect and complex as is that of the mammoth1 and so there exist in the universe inhabited worlds that are relatively very small4 ,circulating around the sun in orbits between ,mars and ,jupiter are numerous small planets or asteroids4 ,one in particular1 which is known to your astronomers as ,vesta1 is encompassed by an atmosphere and is inhabited by diminutive people and a correspondingly diminutive fauna and flora4 ,the diameter of ,vesta is about #ejj miles1 although your astronomers give its size1 erroneously1 as much smaller4 ,while the subject of these discourses is mainly ,spiritual you are getting many scientific facts1 and although not a volume of them you are getting a proper understanding of the ,cosmos4 ,the universe with all its suns and planets is analogous to a perfect watch4 ,each sun and planet moves over a prescribed orbit in a given time mathematically proportional to the movements of all the other celestial bodies1 just as the geared wheels of the watch conform to their prescribed movements4 ,the celestial bodies are seemingly actuated by invisible gears and are held rigidly in their proper places by a mighty force whose power is incalculable4 ,this is evidenced by the fact that all celestial bodies conform to that inexorable law1 ,divine ,harmony4 ,that all planets describe equal areas in the same time in their ceaseless journeyings1 and that the square of the time of their periods is as the cube of their distance from their common centers1 is an exemplification of the reign of ,god's harmonious laws4 ,you must remember that ,empirical knowledge is but a perverted view of ,truth4 ,all the fleeting things of life are but dross3 their apparent reality an illusion4 ,material life is but a projection from the ,cause world into the ,effect world4 ,man is but a reflection of a reality that transcends his material vision4 ,you are on the threshold of a great awakening on your planet1 which is yet in great darkness1 but the dawn of a better day is nigh4 ,christ is coming into ,his ,kingdom1 which must be in the hearts of the people4 ,his ,second ,coming means that ,he will come into your lives with the ,power of the ,spirit4 ,this can only become possible through an awakened understanding of ,spiritual laws4 ,although man on your ,earth is in great darkness it is not the darkness of ,jupiter1 which planet must undergo many changes before it reaches your evolutionary stage4 ,,communication ,,between ,,planets in our system and your ,earth will be realized in a short time1 and the ,,initial ,,message ,,will ,,be ,,from ,,mars4 ,this event will herald ,a ,,new ,,era for the people of your ,earth1 for it will be an important factor in the ,,breaking ,,down ,,of ,,the ,,medieval ,,dogmatism of the past1 ,a ,,narrow-,,minded ,,theology built upon a perverted corruption of ,god's limitless universe3 a universe narrowed down to your ,earth and the inhabitants thereof4 ,man's presumptuousness and sophistry is in direct ratio to his ignorance1 and that is one reason why materialism holds sway among a majority of your so-called learned scientists and the people generally4 ,but the materialism of the masses is not so degenerating and destructive as the impossible dogmas entertained by your numerous sects ,,who ,,have ,,made ,,god1 ,,who ,,is ,,infinite ,,love1 ,,an ,,anthropomorphic ,,monster4 ,these dogmas are priestly inventions created to frighten ,god's children2 to make of man1 created after the image of ,god a crawling1 servile creature1 instead of what he really should be1 the highest manifestation of the ,divine1 the culmination of ,god's handiwork4 ,,chapter ,,xvi ,,the ,,risen ,,christ ,easter ,sunday1 ,april #d1 #aibj ,your ,earth's inhabitants are celebrating today the ,resurrection of your ,savior--by gratifying the desires of ,self4 ,we of ,mars do not have such events to commemorate for we never crucified ,him4 ,we opened the door to ,his wonderful ,truth4 ,not one of your ,earth's inhabitants can perform the miracles ,christ did1 but we can4 ,our leaders1 who are our advisers1 guides and ,spiritual teachers are ,christlike men who can do all the works that ,christ and ,his disciples did4 ,he said4 ,these signs do follow them that believe1 and we have never stopped believing4 ,your condition is pitiful4 ,there is nothing but darkness between you and the ,truth ,christ tried to give you4 ,christ is only an idea on your planet and not a reality in the hearts of your people4 ,their whole thought1 for weeks past1 has been devoted to their personal adornment1 and in preparing festivals for this occasion4 ,in your churches1 where they seem to observe the period of ,christ's suffering1 it is only a form4 ,they go through their vain repetition of prayers1 that have no soul in them1 and your six weeks of so-called ,lent is only a mockery of its real significance4 ,if you would live the ,christ life you would not crucify ,him daily in the flesh1 but would come to that consciousness that ,he is risen in your soul4 ,you are continually crucifying ,christ all over your planet in the same way that you crucified ,jesus ,christ1 for you either deny ,him or pervert ,his ,truth to suit your selfishness4 ,all of the people on ,mars have lived on other planets before1 except your ,earth4 ,the ,earth has not advanced enough to be placed in the line of progression yet4 ,however1 the time is near when you will experience that progression4 ,it will be after you are high enough spiritually to receive word from the ,martians through mediums4 ,this work evidences the fact that you are beginning that experience now4 ,take hope1 for after the obscure darkness must come the dawn4 ,your whole ,earth is now in terrible travail1 but the result will be the birth of the new ,christ ,spirit4 ,you get glimpses now and then of the real ,christ ,life1 but do you1 or can you realize what life on a planet is like when all the inhabitants live the ,christ ,life every day8 ,that is why we have the wonderful manifestations of the ,father's ,love in our intricate and delicate mechanisms1 and in our utilization of ,cosmic ,energy4 ,it is thus that we receive the ,father's wondrous gifts4 ,but ,mars never became what it is until ,god purified it by ,his ,son's example1 and we accepted ,him as our ,savior ,,without ,,murder4 ,your planet damned itself to many bloody aeons by the rejection of ,him1 and your ,religion has been blood1 blood1 blood6 ,in your last five years you have been given enough blood to drown all the martyrs you have given to your bloody god4 ,your planet is in slavery4 ,you are slaves to your conventionalities4 ,they are like shackles on your souls3 like bands of iron4 ,and yet you cling to them until it seems you do not want freedom4 ,it is only ,truth that will free you2 and as long as you cling to false ideals and sham systems you must expect to be slaves4 ,pin your faith not in material money1 but in ,spiritual ,wealth4 ,take no heed of the morrow4 ,be of good cheer4 ,,make ,,wide ,,the ,,opening ,,to ,,the ,,spirit6 ,,he ,,will ,,enter6 ,,chapter ,,xvii4 ,,physical ,,environment ,,the ,,result ,,of ,,spiritual ,,causes ,for they have sown the wind and they shall reap the whirlwind4 7,hosea1 #h3g7 ,the ,creator and ,dominator of the entire ,universe is ,,divine ,,mentality4 ,the only real actuality that confronts sentient beings is ,,mind4 ,we are born1 live and have our being amidst physical surroundings that in final analysis are mere illusions4 ,this idea is not new4 ,it forms the base of most systems of philosophy from the dawn of civilization to the present day4 ,our physical environment is the result of our mental attitude4 ,mars is blessed with a climatic tranquility that would surpass the understanding of an ,earth dweller4 ,but this was not always so4 ,in proportion to the spiritual unfoldment of the inhabitants of a planet so is the degree of climatic tranquility enjoyed by them4 ,this may1 at first reading1 appear far-fetched1 but it is true nevertheless4 ,those who live on a material plane are immersed in the ,effect world4 ,the dominating and primary influence that gives rise to all material phenomena have their inception in the ,cause world--the world of ,spirit4 ,hence the turbulence of the elements originate1 through the law of ,vibration1 deep down in the mentalities of those who make up the population of a planet4 ,cloudbursts1 severe wind storms and other disturbances of ,nature are all adjuncts of the spirit of war and rapine4 ,when a race has discarded the pursuit of false ideals and comes into harmony with the ,father then there occurs a corresponding change in its physical environment by reason of the vibratory influences at work4 ,these influences have their inception in the mentalities of sentient beings who are doing the ,father's work in the advancement of the races of men throughout the entire physical universe4 ,this same vibratory law is at work throughout all physical planes1 and a knowledge of this law was referred to by ,christ when ,he said3 ,,the ,,kingdom ,,of ,,god ,,is ,,within ,,you4 ,on ,mars1 owing to the high spiritual state of its inhabitants1 who are in harmony with their ,creator1 climatic conditions are1 compared with your world1 most perfect4 ,however1 there was a time1 measured in terms of your millions of years1 when the elements on ,mars were as agitated and capricious as they are today on your blood-stained globe4 ,that was before man on ,mars had enfolded spiritually4 ,as the ,martians progressed and unfolded spiritually there occurred a subsidence in the roughness of the elements3 and today our planet is blessed with a tranquility proportionate to the high ,mental state of its inhabitants4 ,,chapter ,,xviii4 ,,material ,,life ,a ,,lesson ,at the expense of what may appear as painful reiteration it is my desire to impress upon the readers of this book this ,truth3 ,material life is necessary to unfold character1 to develop the real self1 the ,divine part in man3 the only principle that endures forever4 ,there is a lesson in every phase of work1 in every joy1 in every sorrow4 ,that lesson is ,,love4 ,until you have fully realized this truth you will not become full heirs in the ,kingdom of ,god4 ,he that loveth is born of ,god4 ,christ taught that the ,kingdom was not of your ,earth1 and that all material things are transitory and would ultimately vanish like mist4 ,the story of ,mars is a lesson to you as to what may be accomplished towards a more harmonious relation with the ,father3 towards a truer realization of ,god's real ,kingdom4 ,but in any event you should not idolize the ,mars people1 for the ,father's ,kingdom is more perfect4 ,mars' idealism is only a degree in the progress in the ,cosmic ,family of worlds4 ,the soul must really strive for a higher goal4 ,the ,martians1 after ages of time1 have mastered their natural passions in suppressing self1 but they have other heights to scale4 ,but he who conquers a sordid environment2 he who rises from a black pool of iniquity2 he who finds the ,father's ,kingdom amidst an uncompromising warfare with sin deserves more credit than he who is favored by circumstances of birth with more congenial surroundings and a higher ,spiritual environment4 ,you must remember that the individual on ,mars1 although living amidst an idealism1 is beset with problems of life also4 ,our problems are more subtle and of a very different character than you are accustomed to deal with4 ,every plane of life has its complexities4 ,if this were not so1 the stimulus for growth would be weak indeed4 ,your most apparent problems are material only to your understanding1 since you are living under a most pernicious social and economic system1 a system which puts a premium on selfishness4 ,all sentient entities are functioning in a universe of ,relativity1 and the perfectness of the ,martian character and the ideal material and spiritual aspects of the planet are so by comparison only4 ,martians are self-conscious of their shortcomings and aspire to higher things in ,god's ,kingdom1 for progress is eternal and the ultimate goal is never reached on the material plane of action1 for the pinnacle of all progress is ,god4 ,,be ,,ye ,,perfect1 ,,even ,,as ,,your ,,father ,,in ,,heaven ,,is ,,also ,,perfect4 ,,chapter ,,xix4 ,a ,,martian ,,home ,the ,,home is the moulder of ,character in the individual1 and in most cases the ,home influences determine the future of the man4 ,home influences are the most lasting and abide by the individual unto the end of his material career4 ,all the habitations of the people of ,mars are beautiful1 and a brief description of one will give our reader an understanding of the other millions of homes on the planet4 ,i will take you into a ,martian home in the city of ,urid the ,beautiful4 ,the rooms are large and commodious4 ,sunlight1 which has been filtered through translucent glass to temper and rob it of its glare1 floods every room4 ,there are no stairs to climb1 for the five or six rooms--depending on the size of the family--form a rectangle with a court in the center4 ,there is a fountain in the center of the court1 and beautiful flowers grow in profusion4 ,birds of vivid plumage fill the air with their song4 ,in one of the large rooms a mother sits at a sewing machine making a garment4 ,for the ,martians use these machines too1 although they are a great improvement on yours4 ,not all the clothing is made in the homes1 but much of it is1 and this is easily understood when you recall that the ,martians are true artists and possessed of great originality4 ,the mother's attention is now and then centered on a very small child who sits on a velvety carpet4 ,this carpet would be a most wonderful acquisition in the home of a man of wealth on your ,earth4 ,it has a soft1 fluffy pile two inches thick1 and makes a most comfortable floor for the baby to play upon4 ,this baby is about #ah months old1 and plays with toys just as your ,earth babies do4 ,a beautiful young girl enters the room4 ,she is dressed in a simple becoming gown of white1 and she carries her school books with her4 ,after removing her hat and putting her books away she begins to tell her mother of the wonderful things learned at school that day4 ,she is studying the ,harmony of ,music1 particularly the relationship between ,electro-,magnetic ,vibrations and ,music4 ,the mother shows much interest1 and from her store of knowledge clears up many doubtful points in the mind of her daughter4 ,and so the hours pass quickly until the father comes home and joins the family circle4 ,the walls of the room are white1 and are relieved here and there by the most beautiful tapestries4 ,the few furnishings of the room express beauty through the artistry that is born of ,love4 ,there is a lack of useless furniture and bric-a-brac in the room4 ,a table1 a few chairs and a receptacle for books1 also a couch1 complete the furnishings4 ,but this simplicity in the matter of furniture adds a spirit of freedom to the home4 ,there is no kitchen drudgery in store for the ,housewife4 ,the family repair to a dining-room where food is served by the mother4 ,the food has just arrived from a central depot in a mechanical contrivance which runs underground4 ,after the meal has been partaken of1 the soiled dishes are returned in the same manner by which they were conveyed to the home4 ,later in the evening the family prepares to attend a lecture or musical concert nearby4 ,or perhaps a visit to some distant part is considered1 in which case an airship is ordered from a public aerodrome4 ,,chapter ,,xx4 ,,art ,as ,harmony is an expression of the ,father1 its coexistent1 ,art1 is an expression of the laws of ,rhythm through the individual when permanently registered in a material way4 ,the more a created object conforms to the laws of ,harmony the more pleasing it is to the eye4 ,the artist gives expression to his soul within with paint brush1 chisel or loom1 and the quality of his production is proportionate to the development of his spiritual nature4 ,all of ,god's creatures are artists1 although only a small percentage of ,his evolutionary creatures are able to express materially what lies hidden in the soul4 ,hence1 a beautifully executed painting1 statue or tapestry appeals to and interests almost everyone1 even though few are able to execute their own artistic impressions4 ,the reason for this is that the average physical makeup is defective and therefore affords a poor vehicle for the expression of the real entity4 ,then again1 artistic ability is a question of individual development4 ,primordial man's efforts to depict that which delighted his soul were crude indeed1 compared with the creations of your world's foremost artists today4 ,but in a relative sense only1 for the state of your art is as far behind the art of the ,martians as are the carvings of your prehistoric cavemen behind the productions of your ,michael ,angelos4 ,as man unfolds spiritually there is a corresponding advance in his artistic point of view4 ,this is evidenced by the fact that art has flourished more on your ,earth among those races and individuals who are spiritually inclined4 ,the products of the monastery and cloister in the ,middle ,ages are witness to this fact4 ,amongst a materially inclined people whose selfish instincts have stultified their souls2 a people whose ultimate goal is the acquisition of material things2 a people whose only ambition is to satisfy self3 a people whose ideas of real happiness are the pursuit of material pleasures1 art has little place except as a fad4 ,this is the condition today in many parts of your world1 and especially so on your ,western continent4 ,prize fights and the sensualities of the stage interest many more people than do ,art galleries and the beauties of ,nature4 ,the fact that ,god is the ,supreme ,artist of the ,universe can be established not only with the microscope1 but with one's natural eyes4 ,divine ,art is expressed in every atom comprising the universe2 and poor indeed is he in ,spiritual gifts who fails to feast his eyes on ,god's handiwork4 ,as ,art is an expression of ,god's law of ,harmony it can be said that its development on ,mars has been a stimulus to the development of every line of planetary activity and enters into every phase of ,martian social and industrial system4 ,as every one of ,god's creatures is an artist in the making1 every ,martian is a developed artist4 ,hence1 every product of the loom or forge on our planet is an artistic production1 and reflects in a material way the soul of the creator4 ,the incentive before the ,martian is to work for the pleasure of working1 which in ultimate analysis is ,god's work4 ,of course such a system of industrial activity would be impossible among a partially developed people4 ,art on ,mars typifies man's spiritual and material progress on this planet4 ,this planet's past history and present achievements are woven into the products of the looms4 ,the warp and woof of our beautiful tapestries1 so much in evidence in every home1 express the ,spirituality of the ,martian people2 as do also the creations of the ,martian sculptors1 and the works of those who use brush and paint4 ,some of the most beautiful productions of ,mars art in painting1 sculpture or tapestry depict the scenes and various episodes incident to ,christ's visit to ,mars #aj1jjj years ago4 ,they show many wonderful works of the ,master1 but we do not call them ,miracles for1 as later art shows1 the leaders of ,martian spiritual attainment were and are true disciples and do also the works of the ,master4 ,mars' past has been one of achievement spiritually1 and naturally in a material way also1 so when the ,martian artist weaves the story of the past in his loom there are no misgivings1 for the ,martian past is not fraught with hate1 sin and suffering4 ,,chapter ,,xxi4 ,,scientific ,,sophistry ,for we are of yesterday1 and know nothing1 because our days upon ,earth are a shadow4 ,job #h3i4 ,the term ,scientific ,sophistry well fits your multitude of theories concerning ,truth4 ,science which connotes a higher wisdom of hidden things has degenerated on your ,earth from its original purpose 7the overthrow of ignorance and superstition and the development among intelligent beings of a near approximation of ,ultimate ,truth7 to an orthodox dogmatism1 which today is on a par with the unreality which this selfsame science has sought to eliminate from the shallowness of the human mind4 ,it is quite true that the modern scientific method of investigation3 that is1 along the lines of ,observation1 followed by the formation of a theory1 and finally by demonstration1 has resulted in the release of millions of souls from a darker thraldom than that which now besets them1 but nevertheless1 the human race on your planet now undergoing its probationary experience1 is to be pitied for its blindness in matters of real import1 namely ,,spiritual ,,truths4 ,your scientific methods instead of leading you onward towards the ,central ,sun of ,spiritual enlightenment has so beclouded your vision that your race today--that is1 the so-called enlightened and learned portions of your population--have been deflected from the main path1 and they will soon find themselves pursuing an illusionary will-o'-the-wisp4 ,another result of the adoption of the modern scientific method has been the tendency of those endeavoring to bring light into the dark nooks and crannies of human existence1 to immerse themselves in an abysmal materialism from which rescue is almost hopeless4 ,this condition is the result of a loss of ,spiritual vision1 and is the final effort on the part of scientists to explain the riddle of human existence in accordance with a cleverly thought out1 but most amazingly deficient1 mechanistic conception of life4 ,since the inception of modern ,science on your ,earth1 based on the scientific method of investigation1 its devotees adopted a spirit of skepticism concerning all problems of human activity not susceptible to measurement with the foot-rule1 or analysis with the test tube1 with the result that the newer ,science of ,psychology was invented to supply a reasonable and material explanation for the subtle and mystifying phenomena of the human mind4 ,that the conceivers of this science of ,psychology have been successful is attested by the many remarkable explanations given to account for everyday manifestations of human and animal mentality4 ,i will venture to say that this idea applies to all branches of modern science as there seems to be no class of phenomena in the entire universe1 whether in the realm of chemistry1 physics or psychology but what can be clearly elucidated to the satisfaction of all scientists with the aid of an adequate terminology4 ,so1 today your ,science in final analysis1 has degenerated into a system of clever word-juggling4 ,it is true there are today in the ranks of your foremost investigators and ,god-inspired men who are seeking ,truth4 ,their names and their achievements will be treasured by a grateful posterity1 and it is to be regretted that their declarations1 based upon tireless investigation and honest opinion1 are derided by their fellow-workers in the ,realm of ,truth4 ,all your scientific theories are based upon certain postulates that in time are out of agreement with observed facts1 and you are compelled to cast those postulates aside1 adopt others and theorize anew4 ,this fruitless search for ,truth must go on until a divergence is made from the blind trail and the right path is found that will lead you to the ultimate goal4 ,be not surprised1 then1 that the revelations in this book will meet with the usual criticisms launched at every new idea of ,truth that has been given to your world from the time man first walked erect and beheld the stars in the firmament of ,god4 ,error must and will dissolve presently in the presence of ,truth1 which will abide with you for all time4 ,,help ,,hasten ,,the ,,day ,,of ,,the ,,lord4
