littleness2 and in this point seeks to resemble the least watch ever made--the least picture ever painted--the tiniest flower that ever grew4 ,it desires to be among books as the humming-bird among birds4 ,as soon as a child's mind is capable of receiving systematic instruction1 this humble work attempts to convey it4 ,from a very early period a pious mother will1 by casual remarks1 endeavor to lead her child to the knowledge of his ,creator and ,redeemer2 and in due time she will impart systematic instruction4 ,it may be at three years of age--it may not be till five--that the child is prepared to listen to these little lessons4 ,but--sooner or later--he will give evidence of his immortality by willingly hearkening to discourse concerning the ,,invisible--the ,,eternal--the ,,infinite4 ,the simplicity of the language may seem unworthy of the sublimity of the subject treated of in these pages2 and some may smile at the contrast2--but the little one will not smile--except with joy to hear of his ,heavenly ,father1 and of his ,incarnate ,redeemer2 for the merry inmates of the nursery are capable of tasting higher pleasures than toys and dainties can afford4 ,,the ,,peep you are like the devil4 ,when you say1 8,i don't care10 you are like the devil4 ,when you think yourself good1 you are proud like the devil4 ,can ,god keep you from minding the devil8 ,yes2 he can3 very1 very old1 indeed4 ,a wicked king caught him1 and put him into a country far away from his friends3 there was water all round1 so that he could not get away4 ,was ,john unhappy there8 ,no2 ,god was with him1 and ,john loved to think of the ,father1 and of his ,son ,jesus4 ,it was ,sunday1 and ,john was thinking of ,god1 when he heard a voice behind him1 like the noise of a trumpet1 very loud indeed4 ,he turned round to see who it was2 and whom do you think he saw8 ,the ,lord ,jesus come down from heaven1 all glorious and shining6 ,when ,john saw him1 he could not speak or stand2 he was afraid1 and he fell down on the ground1 as if he were dead4 ,but ,jesus touched him with his hand and said1 ,fear not2 ,i am he that liveth and was dead1 and behold1 ,i am alive for evermore4 ,then ,jesus took ,john up into heaven1 and an angel showed him most beautiful things4 ,john saw a throne on which ,god sat4 ,there was a rainbow round the throne4 ,there were a great many seats1 and men sitting on them1 clothed in white1 with crowns of gold on their heads4 ,the men took off their crowns1 and threw them down before the throne and praised ,jesus1 the ,lamb of ,god4 ,john saw a great many angels1 more than he could count1 standing round the throne1 singing praises to the ,lamb4 ,but of all the things ,john saw in heaven1 there was nothing so glorious as ,god himself4 ,in heaven there is no sun1 nor moon1 nor candle1 nor lamp4 ,yet it is always light1 because ,god shines more brightly than the sun4 ,the music of harps and sweet singing are always to be heard2 for all the angels can sing the praises of ,god4 ,john wondered at the things he saw and heard2 and he fell down at the feet of the angel who had shown them to him4 ,but the angel said1 ,you must not worship me2 ,i am only a servant of ,god3 you must worship ,god4 ,then the angel went on speaking and said1 ,jesus will soon come down from heaven to judge the world4 ,he will open the gates of heaven to let those people in who mind ,god's word2 but those who tell lies1 and do wicked things1 shall be shut out4 ,all people who love ,jesus wish him to come again in the clouds4 ,do you wish to see ,jesus1 my little children8 ,then you may answer1 ,even so2 come1 ,lord ,jesus4 ,i hope that when you die your spirit will go to ,jesus1 and that when ,jesus comes again1 he will bring you with him4 ,john wrote down in a book the things he had seen in heaven4 ,all that ,john wrote is in the ,bible4 ,at last ,john died1 and his soul went to ,god4 ,he is with ,jesus now in heaven4 ,he is now playing on a golden harp1 and singing with the angels4 ,but when ,jesus comes again in the clouds1 ,john will come with him4 ,when ,john was by the angel led ,to the bright world on high1 ,he saw what joys await the dead ,when up to heaven they fly4 ,he saw them round the ,father's throne1 ,gazing upon his face1 ,singing to harps of sweetest tone ,the praises of his grace4 ,he saw them clothed in robes of white1 ,such as the angels wear1 ,shining like stars of morning bright1 ,and like the angels fair4 ,he saw the city where they dwelt2 7,whose praises can't be told72 ,the walls of precious stones were built1 ,the streets were purest gold4 ,he saw the ,lamb whose blood was spill'd1 ,to give his people rest3 ,with his bright beams the place was filled1 ,and every heart was blest4 ,charm'd with the
