world1 but he is not here now4 ,where is he8 ,jesus1 the ,son of ,god1 is in heaven2 he is sitting on the throne of ,god his ,father4 ,when did he go there8 ,oh1 it is a long while ago since he went up to heaven4 ,i will tell you how it was4 ,surely you would like to know all about it4 ,on the day that he meant to go up to heaven he took a walk with some of his dear friends4 ,they loved him very much1 as well they might4 ,just six weeks before1 he had been nailed to a cross1 and killed1 and buried4 ,but he had soon come out of his grave2 and now the marks of the nails might be seen on his hands and feet1 and the mark of a great spear in his side1 but the places were quite well1 they did not bleed now1 though once they had bled a great deal4 ,whenever his friends looked at those marks1 they thought of his love in dying for them1 for it was for their sins he died1 and not for theirs only1 but for your sins1 also1 my child4 ,his friends liked to walk with him and to talk to him4 ,about what did ,jesus speak8 ,about his ,father and about heaven4 ,he told his friends he should soon leave them1 but he made them a promise4 ,what was it8 ,he said that he would send the ,holy ,spirit down from heaven to be with them4 ,who is the ,holy ,spirit8 ,he is ,god2 he comes down and fills the hearts of ,god's people4 ,it is pleasant to see ,jesus1 and to walk about with him1 but it is still better to have the ,holy ,spirit in our hearts1 for the ,holy ,spirit makes people good and happy4 ,where was ,jesus when he took his last walk with his friends8 ,he was in a town called ,jerusalem1 and he walked into the country4 ,how sweet is a country walk8 ,children who live in towns are delighted when their fathers say to them1 ,i shall take you to the green fields to-day4 ,then the children think1 ,we shall hear the birds sing1 and we shall gather flowers from the hedges1 and see the little lambs by the side of their mothers2 we shall play about1 and be so happy4 ,and even grown-up people like to go into the country4 ,if they wish to talk about ,god1 they like to walk in a quiet place among shady trees4 ,jesus took his friends by his favourite path2 he led them down into a low place over a little stream1 then by a garden where olive trees grew1--then up a green mountain called ,olivet4 ,when they were at the top he began to pray with them4 ,while he prayed1 he lifted up his hands to bless them4 ,in a moment he was gone--a cloud took him up4 ,his friends looked up1 and the cloud was going up higher and higher1 till at last it looked like a speck1 and then could not be seen at all4 ,but on the mountain-top there stood two men2 they were angels1 dressed in white4 ,no one can tell how bright angels look1 or how sweetly they speak4 ,these angels had come to comfort the friends of the ,lord ,jesus4 ,they said1 ,why do you stand looking up towards heaven8 ,jesus shall come again in the same way that you have seen him go into heaven4 ,has ,jesus come again8 ,not yet2 but he will come4 ,those angels would not have told lies2 they know that ,jesus will one day come down here again1 and that they shall come with him4 ,what a glorious day it will be6 ,some people will be very much frightened when they see him2 they will howl1 and shriek1 and try to hide themselves in deep holes1 but they will not be able to get away4 ,the angels will seize them1 and shut them in that dark and burning place where ,satan will torment them for ever and ever4 ,but some people will be glad to see ,jesus2 they will say1 ,this is our ,god2 we have waited for him4 ,should you be glad1 my dear child1 to see ,jesus this day8 ,we know not when he will come4 ,have you prayed to him to-day8 ,do you love him8 ,but what became of the friends of ,jesus who were standing on ,mount ,olivet looking up into the sky8 ,they could not stay with the angels1 they went back to ,jerusalem4 ,did they go back crying and sobbing1 and saying1 ,we have lost our dearest friend8 ,oh1 no2 they went back quite glad1 for they had not lost ,jesus2 they knew where he was gone2 they knew he would pray to his ,father1 and that he would send down the ,holy ,spirit very soon4 ,so they waited at ,jerusalem as ,jesus had told them1 and in ten days ,jesus did send down the ,holy ,spirit upon his dear friends4 ,there is a sweet name given to the ,holy ,spirit2 it is this1 the ,comforter4 ,why is he called the ,comforter8 ,because he comforts people when they are in trouble4 ,when we are unhappy we like to be comforted4 ,if a little child falls down and hurts itself1 it runs crying to its mother2 it wants to be comforted4 ,and oh1 how tenderly a mother comforts her little darling6 ,she takes it on her knee and kisses it1 and says1 ,tell mother what is the matter4 ,has it hurt its dear little hand8 and then she kisses the hand1 and the child soon leaves off crying1 and leans its head upon its mother's bosom4 ,but no mother can comfort as the ,holy ,spirit can4 ,he tells people that ,god loves them1 and has forgiven their sins1 and will take them to heaven4 ,my child1 ask ,god for his ,holy ,spirit1 and he will hear you4 ,you may find the history of ,jesus going up to heaven in ,luke xxiv4 #ej to end2 ,acts i4 #a--ab4 ,there is a glorious world of light1 ,above the starry sky1 ,where saints departed1 clothed in light1 ,adore the ,lord most high4 ,we're marching through ,immanuel's ground1 ,and soon shall hear the trumpet sound4 ,we hope to meet at ,jesus' feet1 ,and never1 never part again6 ,what6 never part again8 ,no1 never part again4 ,what6 never part again8 ,no1 never part again4 ,we hope to meet at ,jesus' feet1 ,and never1 never part again4 7,hill's ,collection47 ,macintosh1 ,printer1 ,great ,new-street1 ,london4 ,,prayer4 ,o ,father
