,,lived ,,again4 ,,by ,,the ,,author ,,of ,,peep ,,of ,,day4 ,,london3 ,,john ,,hatchard ,,and ,,son4 #ahdh4 ,illustration ,,the ,,child ,,who ,,died ,,and ,,lived ,,again4 ,did you ever see a person who was dead8 ,perhaps you have seen one of your own brothers or sisters lying on a death-bed4 ,what a change takes place when we die6 ,no more breath comes out of the mouth1 no colour is seen on the cheeks2 the eye can look at us no longer1 nor the tongue speak to us2 the body soon grows cold and stiff2 it has no more feeling than the ground on which we tread4 ,and why8 ,because the soul is gone out of the body4 ,while the soul or spirit is in us we are alive1 but when it is gone out then we are dead4 ,the soul can never die1 but the body is only made of dust1 and it soon crumbles away and becomes dust again4 ,no one can make a dead person alive again4 ,yet once there was a man in this world who made dead people alive4 ,who was that man8 ,he was called ,jesus2 he was not only a man1 he was ,god too2 he was the ,son of ,god4 ,most people would not believe that he was the ,son of ,god1 though he said he was4 ,yet we are sure he said true1 for if he had been a wicked man he could not have made dead people alive again4 ,god his ,father was with him1 and this was the reason he did such wonderful things4 ,one day a rich man came to ,jesus1 and fell down at his feet1 and begged him to come to his house4 ,he said1 ,my little daughter is dying4 ,he was very unhappy1 he loved his little girl very much1 and she was his only child4 ,his name was ,jairus1 but ,i do not know the name of his little girl4 ,i do know her age1 she was twelve years old4 ,the father thought that if ,jesus only put his hands upon her he could make her well4 ,the ,son of ,god was very kind to people in trouble4 ,he went with the father1 and a great crowd followed him4 ,as he went along the road1 he was pressed on every side by those who wanted to see him and to hear what he said4 ,before he reached the sick man's house1 some people came and said to the father1 ,your daughter is dead4 ,they told him it was now of no use for ,jesus to come4 ,they little knew what he could do2 but ,jesus said to the father1 ,do not be afraid1 she shall be made well4 ,when he came to the house1 he only allowed three of his friends to come in with him4 ,their names were ,peter1 ,james1 and ,john4 ,there was a great noise and bustle in the house2 there were men playing music1 and people weeping and crying out with loud voices because the girl was dead4 ,when ,jesus came into the room where she was lying1 he said to these people1 ,why do you make this noise8 ,the girl is not dead1 she only sleeps4 ,then they began to laugh at him1 for they knew the child was dead4 ,why did ,jesus say she slept8 ,because she was soon to be made alive4 ,her death was like sleep4 ,jesus would not let the people who mocked1 stay in the room1 but he let the girl's father and mother be there1 and his own three friends4 ,there were just these five in the room with him when he went to the bed and took hold of the girl's hand and said1 ,girl1 ,i say unto thee1 arise4 ,immediately her spirit 7or her soul7 came again into her body4 ,then she was alive4 ,she was now quite well2 she was not weak now1 as she had been2 she got up out of her bed and walked about4 ,then ,jesus desired that something might be given her to eat4 ,her parents were very much surprised4 ,they had been afraid that ,jesus would not be able to make her alive4 ,they did not know he could do everything4 ,he made all our bodies and gave us souls1 and one day he will call all the dead people out of their graves4 ,i wonder whether that young girl loved ,jesus4 ,she was old enough to understand what he said4 ,at twelve years old children can understand almost as well as men and women can2 they learn more quickly1 and remember better4 ,though they love play still1 they have a great deal of sense4 ,some children at twelve years old begin to take great pains with their learning2 then they get on very fast4 ,some begin to be very useful2 they can do more now than take care of the baby or run upon errands1 and often they get places as servants4 ,if they are steady1 and tell no lies1 they are trusted and get on well in the world4 ,some children at twelve years old begin to think about their souls and to say1 ,what would become of me if ,i were to die8 ,they go and hear sermons1 and they can understand them4 ,they look in the ,bible1 and they can understand a great deal which they read4 ,then some begin to pray and to say1 ,merciful ,god1 give me thy ,holy ,spirit1 for the sake of ,jesus ,christ4 ,but there are some who at twelve years old will mind their parents no longer4 ,they say1 ,we are not little babies now1 we will do as we please4 ,they forget all the kindness their parents have shown them for twelve years1 and they forget the words that ,god has spoken1 ,honour thy father and thy mother4 ,you can read the history of the daughter of ,jairus in your ,bible in ,mark v4 verses #bc1 #bd1 and #ce to end2 ,luke viii4 #da1 #db1 and #di to end4 ,,the ,,dying ,,child4 ,why do you weep8 ,i am falling asleep1 ,and ,jesus my ,shepherd1 ,is watching his sheep2 ,his arm is beneath me1 ,his eye is above2 ,his ,spirit within me ,says1 ,rest in my love3 ,with blood ,i have bought thee1 ,and wash'd thee from sin2 ,with care ,i have brought thee ,my fold to be in2 ,refresh'd by still waters1 ,in green pastures fed1 ,thy day has gone by-- ,i am making thy bed4 ,extract in ,the ,twin ,brothers4 ,,the ,,end4 and thought4 ,o ,merciful ,lord1 pardon my sins1 ,because ,jesus ,christ1 thy dear ,son1 ,died upon the cross for sinners4 ,give me thy ,holy ,spirit1 ,that ,i may love ,thee1 and obey thy laws4 ,keep
